HoJo Pool Question

Ok, WHOMEVER thinks that the castaway cove is JUST for kids is silly. Plus you are not getting into the spirit of the WHOLE TRIP!! I will be the brave one and admit that I (DD-32) had a GREAT time in the cove!! I think that the time playing with my kids int he dump bucket and slides are some of my BEST memories!!
At first i got a couple of looks from other parents when they saw me running around, but I think they didn;t realize that adults were allowed. But within a few minutes there were 2 other dads hold their kids in the splash zone! Great times!!!

I wholeheartedly agree that Castaway Cove is for all ages, and I emphatically recommend giving the S-curvy slide a try! pirate:

Hi Lorealle,
I must say that I'm very surprised that you are aware of the thread and yet you made no effort to post a response. That surprises me because the one thing that I've always said was the biggest positive about Hojo is that you all were very customer service oriented. I actually thought that perhaps you didn't see the thread and that's why you didn't respond. I guess I'm surprised because I've seen you post many responses (and solutions) to other people when they've posted about problems they've had with their hotel rooms. I do hope that the foaming issue is really from the soap, etc. It was the brown stuff floating on top of the foam that was really gross. So since I didn't get a response on my thread, I guess I'll ask here: what did the GM have to say about the dust in the bathroom air vent?

Hi DisneySuiteFreak! :cutie:

I know that we've already talked about this in the other thread, but I just wanted to link to my response here in case there are new readers who might be confused. :goodvibes

I'm really sorry that you're taking so much heat for your review, and I really do want to thank you again for posting it. And you know what? You're right- people will thank you for it in the long run! :thumbsup2

I thought I heard about a new hot tub opening soon by the garden pool. Anyone know when that's happening?

I also hope that HoJo's reevaluates the pool temperature. I've been on the fence between Candy Cane Inn or HoJo for our Dec. trip, and while HoJo has many things going for it (including customer support by people like the lovely Lorealle) the pool temp is one of the factors swaying my decision to CCI.

Hi Lorealle, Thank you for posting that. I meant to edit my original post in this thread, but I lost track of it. I'm sorry if it sounded antagonistic, but yeah, I was taking a lot of heat at the time. That's one thing for sure, there are definitely a lot of Hojo loyal fans on this board! And BTW, I am still one of them! I appreciate your high level of customer service at Hojos; that has never, and hopefully will never, change!:goodvibes

Sorry didn't read the whole thing, but I wanted to also second the idea that the pool is really very cold! We were there in August, it was really hot out, and the pool was super cold. The kids didn't really even want to go in.

I too would love to see it warmer, such that we could swim (pirate area is very cold too!) in October when we come again! The Cove Pool at DLH (not the big one) is a wonderful temp - we swam there over Thanksgiving last year!

It looks like there are several of us who think the Garden Pool temperature needs to be a lot warmer. Lorealle, HoJo rep, posted in the thread earlier and indicated that she'll be bringing this to the attention of the hotel's GM. We're hoping to get an answer from her soon and much warmer water by our trip, too!

We're going in November and one of the reasons I picked Hojo's is because the girl I talked to when reserving told me the pool is heated. I hope they get it warmer by then, my kids really love swimming!

I switched from Desert Inn, which has an indoor pool, to Hojo because of all the Hojo Hype. I am going in December and if the pool is too cold then maybe I should go back to the indoor pool. My kid LOVES to swim and will be very upset if he can't

Hope we hear some positive news on the Garden Pool temperature soon...... ;)

Just bumping this thread back up in hopes of some solid info from the HoJo in the near future....

Our GM has promised to don a swimsuit himself and take a dip to see what the water feels like- so I'm still waiting to hear back from him on this experiment! I'll keep you guys posted! :goodvibes

This is why we continue to stay at the HoJo - outstanding customer service! Hurray for your work on this project and hurray for the HoJo's GM! I can hardly wait to hear the results of this experiment. :cool1: I also think taking a quick survey of guests in the pool area on any given day would also be a great idea. If the GM's swim agrees with my experiences in the Garden Pool, things should be warming up quite a bit. :) Hopefully, all of this will take place before my arrival ten days from now.......

Lorealle, thanks for all you do! There is hope for heat!

I just booked with HOJO today! We have never been to Disneyland before and are so so so excited.

Seriously - I am from Canada - Alberta - where we've had snow already and my feet are already in permafrozen mode. I cannot even imagine swimming in an outdoor pool anytime before July. I will be in HEAVEN in January - and I will be swimming and LOVING IT! My kids will be too!

I think its beyond impressive that you are responding to comments here and are so nice! I am glad we made the choice to stay at HOJO's!!!

ps: if I have requests for floor level - should I just call back and ask? :) And I didn't see anything about suites, do you have those? Thank you!

I just want to add my two cents...we stayed the first week of May this last spring... Our room was ready when you guys said it would be! You even told us that we could play in the cove while we waited! My husband and girls played in the castaway cove and I have to commend you on having such a place for families. It is so refreshing to see a business, which is so family friendly. I have a family of 6 and it is really hard to find somewhere that we call all be together and my children can act like children without unfriendly looks. Your customer service was awesome. Even my husband, who is in customer service himself, was very impressed! Your rooms were clean! Every morning I saw all sorts of staff cleaning and taking care of the property! I even printed out my reservations and had them waiting to make sure I would get my Entertainment rate (when we checked out) but it was all there in their computer. The only thing that could make your hotel any better would be a continental breakfast! ; ) Hehe!

BTW Not everyone’s washer’s gets all of the soap out in the rinse cycle and the soap tends to come out of our swimsuits and causes suds in the hot tub. Brown floaters are most likely the result of dirty kids feet getting in and out of the tub... I wouldn't be alarmed about it. Our girls swam in the Garden Pool and loved it! My girls are "fish" so I may not be the best judge of the pool temperature! But I commend the GM for getting into the pool and would love to see a pic!!!! LOL!!! Now THAT is customer service!!! :worship:
: ) Thank you Hojos! : )

We leave in 5 days so I'm bumping this back up. I really hope we hear some news on the Garden Pool water temperature soon.

Any news from the HoJo?

He still hasn't jumped in, yet! He's been pretty swamped this past week and this week he's got a lot of stuff on his schedule- but I'll put a little bug in his ear about it again. :]

Lorealle

PS- Although I can't blame ANYONE for not wanting to get in the pool right this second as it is RAINY and COLD outside! *BRRRRRRR!*

OK, thanks so much for trying but to be honest, I'm kind of disappointed. This thread was started several weeks ago and we were really hoping to have a warm pool to enjoy in time for our trip. FYI, DH found this info on pool temperatures:

Outdoor Swimming Pools in Cool Temperatures
Hotels and resorts usually keep pools at a temperature of 84 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit for leisurely swimmers and guests. Lap swimmers, however, may prefer a lower temperature (between 80 and 82 degrees Fahrenheit) so that they do not become overheated.

Outdoor Swimming Pools in Warm Temperatures
75 degrees Fahrenheit is recommended for lap swimming, while 80 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit is appropriate otherwise. Conditions such as wind may alter the preferred temperature.
