HoJo Pool Question

OK, thanks so much for trying but to be honest, I'm kind of disappointed. This thread was started several weeks ago and we were really hoping to have a warm pool to enjoy in time for our trip. FYI, DH found this info on pool temperatures:

Outdoor Swimming Pools in Cool Temperatures
Hotels and resorts usually keep pools at a temperature of 84 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit for leisurely swimmers and guests. Lap swimmers, however, may prefer a lower temperature (between 80 and 82 degrees Fahrenheit) so that they do not become overheated.

Outdoor Swimming Pools in Warm Temperatures
75 degrees Fahrenheit is recommended for lap swimming, while 80 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit is appropriate otherwise. Conditions such as wind may alter the preferred temperature.

Thanks for this info! I will definitely pass this along to him!

Also, to be fair our GM- he just found out one week ago that he was going to need to jump in, so I'm trying to remember that even though we have known about it for a little while, he's only just come up with this plan. I did remind him though, and I'll keep checking in with him*.

[*This may be partially because I really don't want to jump in the pool while it's raining! :rotfl: ]

one more bump!! we leave on Friday and I would sure like to know if we should include pool time in our plans!!!!!!!

We will be arriving on Friday as well, but I pretty much know I will not be in the pool. From experience I know that for me, anything less than 90 is uncomfortable. (In water you loose body heat 25 times faster than in air.) 80 degree water sounds warm, but it does not feel warm. :scared1:

My problem is I know my kids will be in the water no matter how cold it is. I don't want them getting chilled when it's not so warm outside.

Sure wish we could get an answer....

I think the answer is that he got in the pool, and yes it is freezing. :)

Our GM got sick, so I volunteered to jump in- and I got sick. Today is my first day back, and I'm still not feeling up to snuff, so I'm not going to jump in and risk getting other people/myself sick again.

Hopefully by Thursday I'll have an all clear for a morning dip. I promise that we haven't forgotten about this- we're just trying to keep ourselves healthy. :]

Thanks for your patience, guys!

This is just too funny. Not that you got sick, I mean the whole water temp discussion

It may be funny to some, but I take this discussion very seriously. Swimming is lots of fun and something we look forward to on vacation. Freezing is not fun. We were there last week and having a warm pool to swim in would have been a big plus. I really like the HoJo and hate to move to another property but we are thinking about it for our next trip because of the pool.

Lorealle, I appreciate the fact that you are looking into this issue and hope that it will be resolved soon. Better dig your coat out for the swim. :rotfl:

Desert Inn and Suites has an indoor pool. Warm enough to swim in in Dec. Hot tub could be warmer though

Thanks for the info. Is the hot tub usually full of kids? Because of the proximity of the water playground, the hot tub at the HoJo is usually filled with kids trying to warm up after standing under the freezing bucket of water that drops every few minutes.

no. most of the kids are in the pool since it is warm. The hot tub could stand to be a little warmer but since it is indoors it's not that cold. I like my hot tubs HOT not just good and warm. Maybe it 's just me. Anyway I like Desert Inn for a winter trip because of the pool

Thank you so much for this info! We are staying at HoJos for our Disneyland trip in December. I had no idea you had a water park. I forwarded this to my sister since they are staying at HoJos too. Can't wait!

Since the water in the waterpark area isn't heated at all, I can't imagine that it's usable in Dec. But I guess that would explain why the nearby hot tub is full of kids because they've frozen themselves in the water park area! We'll also be there in Dec, but don't plan on any pool time at all then. We are hoping for some pool time in March when we're back though!

Well- I took the plunge, but I don't think I'm going to be very popular! :\

I felt fine while I was in the pool. It felt cold at first when I got in, but after I got my head wet- I was fine. I was very cold when I got out, but that had everything to do with the temperature outside- and unfortunately, we cannot control that aspect.

Now you guys are all wishing I hadn't gotten in!
