HoJo, Desert Palms, or Del Sol

Can you please help me choose the best place for my family with 2 small children (3 and 5) to stay in a couple weeks? HoJo, Dessert Palms, and Del Sol are all right around the same price so those are the ones I'm looking at since we're trying to do this DL trip on a budget. Del Sol appears to be the closest so the location is a plus but it looks like a tiny little motel and I don't see much comment on it.

A decent bed for my husband who has a bad back is a plus, as well as a close enough location for walking back and forth to the park with little ones. Thanks!

Well, if location is your top concern--- Del Sol all the way. We stayed there with our 4 & 7 year olds and I definately would NOT have wanted to walk any further. We were able to come back in the afternoon for a swim and relax with no problems. I think that the HoJo would have been just that much further that walking would have been a real problem.

That said, the HoJo has a GREAT pool area and looks like a great place for younger kids. They also have super rates if you can get the Entertainment rate.

What are your dates?

HoJo is one block up the street from the crosswalk. You can cross up there at Manchester and go in the entrance where the shuttles pull in-- it's less crowded. The walk is about 5 minutes' difference than the crosswalk hotels like Del Sol.

Del Sol gets less than stellar reviews on Trip Advisor: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Re...s-Anaheim_Del_Sol_Inn-Anaheim_California.html Although, as always, you have to remember that many people post only their negative experiences there-- plenty of people also said it was fine.

HoJo is an older hotel also, but recently renovated, and nicer than the rest of the Harbor Blvd. hotels. The best deal about them is the Entertainment book rate, if you can get it, usually midweek and low season. Here's the link to the website with the available dates: http://www.hojoanaheim.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=14

We just stayed there two weeks ago (with the ent rate, we paid $79 a night for a premium, Disney view room with balcony, fridge and microwave). Free parking and internet. With your kids' ages, I'd really consider it, since their brand new water park playground is SO FUN! Even my DD13 loved it. It's next to the hot tub so you can relax while the kids play. Then there's the regular swimming pool on the other side of the property.

Beds in the deluxe and premium rooms are brand new pillow tops, and super comfy! I don't usually sleep well in hotels, but I slept great here. Another thing I loved was that there were FOUR high quality pillows on each queen bed, each with a different firmness, so you could pick your favorite kind of pillow.

Yeah, I'm shameless HoJo fan. ;)

Hope that helps!

We've stayed at the Del Sol a few times, but once we found the Hojo's, we'll never go back! Yes, Del Sol is closer, but the customer service, beds, pool area, etc are so, so, so much better. If you want a comfortable stay, I'd highly suggest Hojo's.

After a day of searching rates and everyone's great input, I finally found a good discount for Carousel Inn that brings the price into the same ballpark as the others, so I think we're going to go that route - thank you everyone!

Has anyone had the Carousel's continental breakfast lately? One trip it was hot/cold cereals, milk, juice, coffee, pastries, bagels, toast, fruit, etc. and the next time it was just a couple little danishes and apples. The front desk says they should have a big variety, but you never know....

We have gone with Hojos mainly because of the pool area, combined iwth a good price.
