I bought the Slush Express and made some home made slushs this week. Using V8 Splash Diet and frozen Mangos and Pineapple. They are WONDERFUL. I could drink one of these in exchange for a meal they are that good! Similar to say a slimfast. Am I missing something, is there hidden carbs, sugar, etc I should be worried about or are these guilt free?

These are about 8oz servings, maybe 10 oz. Using 2-3 oz juice and 5 mango chunks, 5 pineapple chunks.

If I could drink this for breakfast and lunch (with something else, maybe salad) and a healthy dinner would this work?

I tried slim fast before because it was so fast/easy but it tasted HORRIBLE.

If I could use this instead I would be elated! I know Slimfast provides protien that this wouldn't but could I add say a small serving of fat free cottage cheese to my meal or yogurt? To make up for that. Of course I'll be taking vitamins.

Ideas?

Sounds yummy! I agree with adding protein with the slush. Maybe try adding in a scoop of vanilla protein powder?

I agree with the previous poster about adding protein powder. Otherwise it sounds good.

How do you like the Slushie machine? I recently saw those in a store and thought they looked like a lot of fun. I like to do liquid meals sometimes because they are quick and easy.

Becareful with fruit slushies. They are marketed as being healthy, but the majority of the calories come from sugar. IMO, they are not something you should be eating regularly if you are trying to lose weight.

But if you are making them at home with fresh fruit and a diet drink base (or skim milk of fat-free yogurt), they are not so bad. I've made smoothies in my blender while following WW and the points are quite reasonable. I'm not sure how the calories are for the protein powder, I've only had that in the smoothies at the gym.

I hear what you are saying if you are talking about the commericially made smoothies. I got a small Dunkin Donuts Tropical Fruit smoothie the other day and almost died when I looked up the "nutritional" information when I got home:scared: I knew it wasn't going to be good, but I was shocked at how BAD it was!

The sugar in fruit is the same, even if you make them at home. :) Even milk is loaded with simple sugars and most yogurts as well. If you are drinking smoothies with fruit, yogurt and milk, the majority of those calories are coming from sugar. Fruit should be used sparingly by anyone that is trying to lose weight.

My experience with Weight Watchers is to use fruit carefully but not to avoid it all together. Most fruits are a great source of vitamins, especially the berries. Therefore, I've used it in this way and paid careful attention to portion size and it has worked well for me. Same with skim milk.

I didn't understand what you meant the first time though, thank you for clarifiying.

I see what your saying now. Didn't understand before either. I can tell you've I've lost 3.6 pounds in a little over two days but not sure if it's because of the volumn of food I'm eating or it's working for me. I feel much better though.
