Historically, has MLK weekend been blacked out from room only discounts?

Looking specifically to try & book with AP discount or Bounceback, but thinking that holiday weekend may be blacked out. Anyone know?

I have gone the last 3 (maybe 4-can't remember) MLK weekends and have always gotten a discount. We have done a room only discount. The overall prices may be a little higher at some resorts for that weekend, but they were still eligible for a discount.

How was the weather that week? Thinking of going the week of MLK so kids miss one less day of school and hoping for free dining. But we were hoping for warmer type weather!

Thanks for the info - how did you feel the crowds were? I now it will be busy since most school are off then, but I was wondering if it's Christmas/Easter type crowds, or much lighter than that.

Weather- It can really be hit or miss. It has been fabulous the past few years. The first time we went over MLK was in 2005. It was awful! It was highs in the 50s and rained alot. When we went in 2009 it was much warmer than I had planned. It was in the 80s and sunny. The past 2 years have been nice and we have been able to swim a couple of times. Evenings maybe are a little cool and you need a lightweight jacket or sweatshirt.

Crowds- That seems to be progressively getting worse year after year. We used to go the last week of January and that was heaven! We have switched to MLK because of school. We also get an inservice day, so it is a 4-day weekend and causes less absences. The Saturday of MLK weekend is so crowded. Even the Saturday after MLK was crowded (but that just may be any Saturday). We try to travel Sat-Sat, so we don't have to spend the whole day at the parks on those days. The Sunday of MLK isn't much better, but it's doable with good planning. MK has some crazy hours that weekend also. One night they are open to 2 or 3am(EMH)! Not that we can take advantage of that with small children, but I can dream. I seem to really notice the crowds getting better by Tuesday.

We get Friday off as an in-service day too so we'll head down Thursday evening & leave Monday afternoon so no school is missed.

We love late (ok early am) EMH - the latest we've made it is til 2am, so we'll aim for 3am this time LOL! DS15 could do it easily, it's DS12 & myself that get rather cranky that late! This past Spring Break was crazy busy so we changed up our touring style. We slept in til 10am, hung around the resort & pool til about 3 or 4, then headed out til 1-2am. It sounds like we might be doing that again!

That is how we would love to do it! Alas, my kids are 8,5, and 3 years old.

I have stayed for a week with MLK weekend in the middle many times with a discount. The crowds on the weekend itself are pretty busy, but the days before and after were OK.
