Marathon Weekend 2027

@camaker Love the idea in any iteration.

To throw yet another idea into the ring for brackets, I just like the symmetry of 2 animated categories and 2 live action categories.
  1. Traditional Hand drawn Animation (including Don Bluth films now owned by Disney)
  2. CGI (both Pixar and Disney)
  3. Disney Live Action (Ex. Mary Poppins, Pirates of the Caribbean, live action remakes, Old Yeller, Parent Trap, 2,000 Leagues Under the Sea, ect.)
  4. Disney Acquired Live Action IP (Ex. Star Wars, Avengers, Aliens, the Muppets, Indiana Jones, ect.)
I like this way of breaking it up. I always participate, so however you do it, I'm in @camaker

Another vote for traditional animation vs CGI. And I think some of the movies that started straddling thr CGi line should fall under traditional so long as at least some of the movie was hand animated.
Oh yeah, didn't even think to clarify the dividing line in animated vs cgi.

I was thinking films like Aladdin, Tarzan, Treasure Planet , ect. that were hand drawn with cgi enhancement went in the animated category, and films that are full cgi like Toy Story, Tangled, Brave, the Good Dinosaur ect would be in the cgi category.

Fully photorealistic cgi (like the "live action" The Lion King remake) would fall under the Disney live action category.

My thoughts exactly. Might be a little tricky in some cases but I think your description makes the most sense .

Raiders is my favorite movie of all time

It is, objectively, the best movie ever made.

ETA: To answer the original question, I think it will be fun, will definitely participate, will definitely go into far too much detail as to why I’ve made my choices, and will burn this board to the ground if Raiders is included but doesn’t win.

This is exactly why I suggested excluding pre-acquisition movies. We are a friendly board but I fear the Raiders of the Lost Ark/ Star Wars / Classic/ 90s Disney factions may collide.

Please don’t make me pick sides. I like y’all.

Edit: small typo

Raiders vs Empire vs Toy Story vs Lion King would be a hell of a Final Four
