There is a movie that I love that takes place during the London Blitz. It centers around a family having to live their lives worrying about whether or not they'll get bombed on during WW2. Very historically accurate.
Hope and Glory
What period does your DD like? That would help. If she's a WWII buff or would prefer Vietnam or the Civil War or the Colonial period or maybe the Salem Witch Trials or the Gold Rush or the Old West. . .
Also, some of the movies some PPs have suggested are NOT historically accurate, even if they are from a historic period, so be careful about that.
Something the Lord Made, starring Alan Rickmen and Mos Def. It's about the first pediatric open heart surgery (happened at Johns Hopkins, and the folks there consulted for the movie, so it's pretty accurate). It's really a fantastic movie, too! One of the leading figures is a woman cardiologist, so it would be great for your daughter to see the difficulties she faced as a female doctor in the early/mid 20th century. It's also a move many of her classmates are unlikely to pick, so that's a bonus!
"The King's Speech" was a great movie. (Oops - just re-read the post - needs to be related to US history - this is still a great movie...just not US History)
