HIS and HERS trip report for the ages: Disneymoon 1/8/07-1/13/07- Completed!!!

I just caught up with this report! Great TR! :thumbsup2 Its sounds like your honeymoon was very magical! Can't wait to hear about Wishes from the Astro Orbiter platform. I know it sounds silly, but that's actually one of my favorite rides. I have to go on it every trip.

More please!:happytv:

I can't wait to hear about Wishes from the Astro Orbiter. My best friend and I are going at the end of April and one of the things that I want to try and do is ride the Astro Orbiter (if they run it during Wishes) while the show is going on. Also, congrats on your wedding, a good friend of mine spent his honeymoon in Disney in October and had a blast!

It was definitely running for at least part of the show while we were up there watching Wishes, so you might be in luck! I think they close the queue line at closing exactly, and then just run until that line full of people is all done! (at least thats the feeling I got!)

Congratulatons!! :tink:

What a wonderful trip report!
Thank you for sharing your DisneyMoon memories, adventures and photos.
I look forward to reading more.....

Thursday January 11th 2007: Part IV

We pushed our way though the insane crowd to get to the Astro Orbiters in plenty of time. We met up with Barbara, and another CM that had another family with her. We all met and shook hands, and all headed up to the platform together.

Now, I have never been on the Astro Orbiters before, but once you go up, we stood on the platform to the right when you come out of the elevators about halfway around, so that we were all leaning up against the bar staring directly at the castle.

Wishes started, and we got the BEST view of Tinkerbelle’s flight, and a wonderfully magical viewing of Wishes. At the part where there are heart shaped fireworks, Barbara leaned over to Joe and me and whispered “Those ones are for you!” I have rarely been able to make it through Wishes without shedding a tear, and now I know every time from now on when I see those heart shaped fireworks, I will well up even more.

At the end of the show, we were presented with a Magical Moments certificate. Barbara told Joe and I that we were going to ride the Astro Orbiter now, all alone. We said goodbye to Barbara and the other family as they took the elevator down. Now we were up there with just the CM operating the ride. We picked our rockets, and with all the other rockets empty, we were off.

It was incredibly magical, and even a little eerie, to be the only ones riding, and pretty much the only people within sight. Talk about Disney Magic!!

After the ride, we thanked the CM and started to head out of the park. The boat lines were terrible, so we decided to walk to the Contemporary and then take the boat from there. It was very quick, and I recommend it, assuming you have the energy for the short walk!

Goofing off at the contemporary!

After some snacks, we laid down our heads to dream about our magical day!

After Spectro, we turned around, and realized that the place was packed behind us! I was nervous that we were going to miss out on the Astro Orbiter! We did manage to make it in plenty of time though....The view from up there was awesome, I was pumped up for Wishes now, and it did not disappoint! I think we both got a little teary eyed during this one, how could you not? The Astro Orbiters were sweet too! I think we're going to have to ride them now, on every subsequent trip, just to remind us of the magic!

The walk to the Contemporary was only like 10 minutes....We would've been waiting an hour to get on a boat at the MK...good move by us!

Was it scary up that high in the Astro Orbiter? Would a height phobic like myself freak out at that altitude?

I was fine on the platform. In the rockets, you control your height yourself (kinda like Dumbo and the carpets), so at the highest point, it was pretty high up . . .so maybe. And it spun pretty gosh darn quick!! I was quite suprised! I was a little dizzy when I got off.

Got all caught up on the trip report! Sounds like you guys had a wicked awesome time at the MK. That is awesome that you got to watch Wishes from the top of Astro Orbiter and then get to ride the ride!!! Can't wait to see the honeymoon pictures...I have thought about doing it but didn't know if it is worth the money...what do you think?

I thought it was worth the money. Of course it is expensive, but what isn't at Disney. I have a feeling it can be hit or miss depending on who you get for a photographer. We loved our guy. He was just great and made us feel at ease. And we got the beautiful photo album the other day filled with the pictures and a bunch of extra prints too.

You can see for yourself soon what you think of his shots. I am going to post the link in the next installment, although, I don't think it will be ready until tomorrow! Sorry! I will try to get it out as soon as I can!!

Friday January 12th: Part I

One of the last mornings of the honeymoon, and yet one of the earliest! We were meeting our Honeymoon Photographer at the Rose Garden in the Magic Kingdom right at 9:00am. Since I wanted to be on time, and look a little cute for the photos, we got up around 6:30am. UGH! We showered up and got ready (which took a while, because I blow dried my hair and put on makeup), and were on our way to the Magic Kingdom by 8:00am.

While we were at the boat dock waiting for the boat to the Contemporary, we got to see the geyser erupt. We made it to the Magic Kingdom with good time, and watched opening, before hurrying back to the Rose Garden. Dean was our photographer, and he was just fantastic. We loved him. He was fun, clearly loved Disney, and had plenty of ideas. He made us feel at ease- and soon we didn’t feel too silly posing for him while other park goers walked by. We took photos in the Rose Garden, Belle’s Story time area, Cinderella’s Wishing Well, the Carousel, with the Sword in the Stone (my personal favorite!), the Haunted Mansion and quite a few more.

I can’t say enough good things about Dean. We spend our 45 minutes together getting to know each other, and really learned a lot about him. I would definitely request him again if I did any other photography at Disney. He even told us that he was the one who did the entire still photo shots of Rascall Flatts when they did their “Life is a Highway” music video for the Disney Channel.

We finished up with Dean at about 9:45am or so and ran right over to Pirates to ride one last time. Amazingly enough, everybody followed the ‘No Flash Photography’ rule!! It was the best ride in a long time!

After that, we made our way out of the park and headed back to the Wilderness Lodge running into Brier Fox along the way.

We were the only ones on the boat on the way back, and it was a nice relaxing ride watching the world come to life. We grabbed a quick lunch at the Roaring Fork (the only time we ate there all trip!) before heading back to the room to change into more comfy shorts and t-shirts and head over to MGM for the rest of the day.

We were in MGM by about 12-12:30pm or so, and headed right back to the Tower of Terror to grab fastpasses for later. It seemed like today the parks were busier than any of the other days this week.

I wanted to do the Great Movie ride next, as it is always a must do for me, but the wait time was ridiculously long. We headed back to poke around One Man’s Dream, since you always have to pay tribute to the man who started it all. We were going to stay to watch the movie, but at the last second changed our minds, since we have seen it about 3-4 times now.

Next time on ‘His and Hers Trip Report for the Ages’: Is MGM not all it is cracked up to be today, dear?

Dean was fantastic, he really did make us feel at ease at some of the sillier poses he had us doing. I would recommend him to anyone looking at the Honeymoon Package, or any other pro photography job at WDW. We recently got in the album too, and the pics look even better in person than they do online! Well worth the $$$. We did feel a little gilty though because neither one of us thought to tip Dean until after the shoot was over and we were walking away. Of course we didn't have any cash on us either...figures! So, Dean, if you're reading this.....we're sorry and we'll ask for you again if we get to do an Anniversary shoot!

Everyone really should at least walk through One Man's Dream, even if they don't stop for the movie. It's nice to pay homage to the man who gave all of this to us!

Loved the photos, thanks for sharing. Where could I find a price list for this service? I would love to do this. Can't wait to hear more about your trip.

You didn't tell me you got the album in! I can't wait to see it!!

The pictures were great!!! I really liked the Sword and the Stone ones!! Now is makes me think about doing the package...hmmm better start putting some money aside along with Dean's name. Were you able to choose where the pictures were taken??? I would rather have a different area than the Belle reading area thingy...but I loved the Haunted Mansion ones also! Thanks for sharing!

can't wait to read about the rest fo your day at MGM.

We picked the Magic Kingdom (you get to pick the park) and were told to meet Dean in the Rose Garden. Once we got there, he asked us if there was anything specific that we wanted, and if we did, he would be sure to TRY and do those, if not, he had plenty of ideas. Since we didn't know what to expect (we had booked on the fly a few days earlier), we didn't really have any ideas of what we wanted, so we just went with whatever he suggested!
