which one would you pick for a mid June vacation....just to let you know we already have HHI reserved but may change..which would you pick given the time of year and give me your reasons...i know i know personal choices blah blah blah.....

Well both of them are going to be extremely hot (weather wise) but I would prefer HHI. But I have to say anytime of the year I prefer HHI over VB. I am sure there are many others who feel totally opposite of me.

To me there is so much more to do on the Island...rent bikes and ride everywhere, lots of different good places to eat, and I love having two different pools to be able to use. I feel VB the pool is way too small for the resort and that might be because folks go along the seashore more...:confused3

Well there's my opinion, I am sure you will get many more!

If you had said May or July I could have given you a decisive answer. June is kind of the end of VB peak and the beginning of HHI peak. I can't pick one over the other in the month of June. We just went to VB in June and our next trip will be to HHI next June. So I say... I don't know... :)

If you have the ressies keep them. Or maybe you could do a split stay :upsidedow

Actually, June is not bad temperature wise in either. Mid July thru August is worst.

Both are great resorts and the CM work very hard offering a variety of activities to make up for the fact the kids aren't at WDW with the theme parks to keep them amused. For up to 3 days stay IMHO it's a coin toss, past 3 days UNLESS you're a huge beach or lie by the pool fan there is a chance you'll get antsy/bored at Vero Beach , it's a beautiful resort but Hilton Head has a lot more things to do as well as a number of interesting towns to visit nearby. Vero has a couple of good restaurants on property, however they are a little pricey. HHI has no full service restaurant on the property, however the Shelter Cove area is only 100 yards walk over the Islands bridge where there are several well priced restaurants and bars that often have live music. Again Disney's Vero beach dining options are fine for a 2-3 night stay but may get a little samey (and expensive) if that stay is 4,5 or more days long. There are a lot of good restaurants in the Vero Beach area, however they are either a 15 minute drive away or if you want a couple of beers or glasses of wine a mid priced cab ride away.

We love HHI. We prefer the gentle ocean at HHI to the bigger waves at VB. Plus, we just love the bike trails at HHI.

Subscribing!

(We are considering the same - between HHI or VBR, but for May of 2009.)

We just made reservations at VB yesterday for our first trip. I've heard that 3 days is enough to spend there though. I'll let you know after our trip!

HHI=heaven on eartrh, great beach - great golf - great dining [all price ranges] - great ice cream [HHI ice cream co.] - great biking - great nature activities- and the rooms are very nice. as you can see I am partial to HHI.

We did visit VB last month and had a very relaxing time 4d-3n vaca. ocean front - good food selection -good [childern] activities - lake bb ball and tennis across the street . Downtown VB is a very nice walking area - one block in from the ocean. and approx a 10 min. drive from the resort. A lay back kind of place. great staff.

Whichever you choose - have a magical stay !!!!!:cool1:  :dance3:

We go to Vero for a week nearly every July. When the week is up we do not want to leave. Sure it's hot, but it's hot in N.Y. in July as well. I tend to not break too bad of a sweat going from the pool to the cooler to the ocean to the cooler to the pool etc. There is plenty to do at Vero. I could stay three weeks NO PROBLEM.

We are going for the weeknd at VB tomorrow for our first visit and we are excited. :cool1:

We stayed at VB for a week in August and really did not want to leave. JP

I would have to say HH. DH and I went to Vero for 5 days in May and we did have a great time but were looking for stuff to do after day 2. We like the beach at HH better because it is flat and easier to walk for a long distance. We didn't have our DD with us so we didn't explore the activities provided by the resort. HH just has a more laid back feel but still plenty for DD to do.

Both are great resorts, but very different from each other. If you're a beach person, VB is better because you can walk right to the beach. At HH you have to walk (long walk), bike, drive, or take the shuttle. The beach is probably a little over a mile away from the resort.

Hilton Head Island itself has a lot more things to do than Vero Beach area. The VB resort is a ways away from town. There's really nothing within walking distance of the resort itself so if you don't have a car, you're basically stuck at the resort whereas HH has a number of things at Shelter Cove.

If your stay is to include shopping and dining then HH is better. If it's more to enjoy the pools and the beach, then VB might be your choice. Activities for kids are probably a toss up as both resorts have a full range of kids activities.

If you like to ride bikes, then it's HH hands down. Also the sand at HH is hard enough to ride a bike right on the beach, although some of the bike rental places don't allow that as it can get salt water/sand on the bike. You'd need to ask first.

Whichever one you choose for your first visit, you'll have a great time.
