We are going to Hilton Head in a couple of months with family but NOT staying at the DVC resort - :sad1:

Will they let us come over and shop in the gift shop since we are members - I'd love to get some HH DVC goodies even if we aren't staying there.

Will they give us a tour if we call ahead and schedule - we've never seen the HH property.

Thanks for any info anyone has!!

Provided you are not going on a Tuesday night during the summer months, you should be able to walk into the resort without a problem. Tuesdays are fireworks nights and the resort has CM stationed at the resort entrance to keep non-guests from walking the grounds to find a fireworks spot.

My advice would be to use the Shelter Cove parking lot and walking over the bridge to Longview Island (no more than a 10 minute walk from the parking lot).

You can try calling, but as the resort is sold out, any tour would have to be given by a CM who is not cast to do so.

I've read on other posts (that I don't have the time to reference right now) that members have been turned away from the gated entrance if they are not staying at the resort, but this is most likely due to the lack of plentiful parking on the resort property.

IMHO, the mercantile has been carrying less and less HHI specific merchandise the past few years and more and more Disney Parks (non-branded) merchandise, but there are still shirts, mugs, and if you're lucky, pins.

Regards

If you have bikes you could ride into the resort from where you are staying as they have bike paths all over thie island. If you have to cross the busy road in front of the resort they have a path that goes under the road thet is how we ride to the beach house. Also the store is not that large @ the resort.

Just drive on into the resort. At the gate just tell them you are DVC members and just wanted to walk around and look at the resort. I've done this at both HHI and VB and they let me in both times with no questions. I then talked to the folks at the front desk and they gave me maps, resort information, etc.

Thanks so much - this is all great info and very encouraging - I really wanted to take a look at this resort while I was there (and maybe pick up another DVC goodie to tide me over until my next visit to the world!).

Thank you - thank you - thank you!!!

:thumbsup2
