Posts like yours are valid and extremely welcome on this thread. You have a real point to make and a real reason for supporting your candidate. Don't worry, we only bite the nasty people.

As for the specifics, why is Obama's stance on NAFTA significantly different that Clinton's? It seems to me that both platforms are almost identical on the issue.

Thanks, the last time I was here I was riled up and had ruffled some feathers so decided to respect you all and just stay away, but this whole thing just hits too close to home to stay quiet. but here goes (again I don't want to be seen as bashing your candidate on your thread, but since you asked...;) )

I know they are basically identical in their plans. HOWEVER, it really does bother me that while Sen. Clinton claims to be anti-trade (or however you want to phrase it) she seems to have no problem spending the HUGE amount of money dear ol' Bill has earned on behalf of it and all the meetings she had while he was in office to push it to ME, is a total hypocrisy and just another reason why I don't think having her in the White House will change anything.

I admit that Obama is inexperienced, and is not perfect, he may not be a good POTUS, honestly who really knows, but then again he may. God knows we can't get any worse than we have these last 7+ years. I am a big believer that change is good, so his message really resonates with me. It's not because I am uneducated, or a kool aid drinker or a cultist. I guess because we KNOW Sen. Clinton, is what scares the heck out of me. There has been so many scandals and doublespeak from her and BIll that I can no longer trust them to run the country in OUR interests instead of theirs.

All the changing of who matters based on where she has or has not won and whether it was a primary or causcus...I'm sorry but don't we ALL matter?? I thought she was running for the Pres. of the UNITED STATES not just Pa, Oh, Tx and Fl. I guess if she only wants to lead those states, she should try for governor not POTUS.

Again , I'm not trying to bash her, those are just MY reasons for deciding to not support her.

I do respect your reasons for supporting HRC, just as I hope you can respect mine for not.

To the poster who asked why I had to state I wasn't bashing, Yes I did because there are a few posters here who feel any Obama poster on this thread is only out to troll , so I wanted to clear the air beforehand.!! but thanks for being so nice about this!

Just a comment on "all the states" discussion.

There has been a hard & fast reality the past several elections. There are red states - seemingly Republican for the foreseeable future - and same goes for the blue states - on the democratic side.

I'm sure no one meant that the votes shouldn't count in the red states that had democratic primaries - but the reality is - they most likely aren't turning blue! So while Obama was winning big in those states - with the limited caucus (where you had to show up at a certain point in time or your vote didn't count) adding delegates who will vote for his nomination - chances are - he's not going to win those during the general election.

Even Hillary's win in TX (even though she lost in delegates which still boggles my mind) - mattered in that - it showed she should still stay in the race - the party hadn't decided yet - but is TX turning blue? I'd wager - probably not.

Are we going to look back and see that red state delegations nominated Obama for the Democratic nomination - but he ended up losing those states in the general?

Now anything could happen - that is true. And I know there's a groundswell for Obama among the elected democratic establishment - as well as new young voters - can he turn enough red states blue to win the electoral college?

There appears to be some "signs" that Hillary could turn OH blue and maybe FL - thus sealing the deal.

I fear that the democratic party may find a way to lose this thing - when it should be a slam dunk for us. I've longed for both candidates to form a "unity" ticket - but that is doubtful from happening......

I just wanted to address this point. If we all matter, why have so many Obama supporters called -I mean- demanded that she withdaws her candidacy for months now, before so many states and thousands of people get to state their preference?

I see the difference as being its his SUPPORTERS saying that, not Obama himself... OBAMA has said time and again, and I agree , that she should stay in as long as she wants. , you can't control what you supporters say (even when its your spouse), but you can control what comes out of your own mouth. And you can't honestly think that if the shoe was on the other foot and HRC had all the majority of wins and all the #"s and it seemed a long shot for BO, that her supporters wouldn't be calling for the same thing? We both darn well know that they would be. And because of who she is it would be even more so and he might actually have been forced out. So to me thats a moot point..

Has BO said some things I don't agree with ?? Yeah, but he has also said some things that are very true, but are purposely getting twisted by HRC to rile people up. And Hillary has had her share of things I bet she wishes would have never come out of her mouth (Bosnia for starters). Neither one are innocent when it comes to speaking before thinking.

BOTH candidates need to quit the petty he said she said crap and tell us what THEY will do and how they will do it.....I don't need to be told why I SHOULDN"T vote for Obama.(and vice versa)..I want to hear why I SHOULD vote for YOU.

Jarn, I see your point about the "big" states, but I am optimistic that this year will be the exception instead of the rule. I seriously doubt we will win TX and probably FL...OH very well could swing dem no matter who the nom is just because of the general disgust with the Rep party especially if whoever we get can push the lack of McBush's knowledge of the economy which IMO is HUGE in OH. The big blue states will be big blue states no matter which dem gets the nod. I have seen several reports that even if BO can't win OH and FL, he very possibly could forge a new path to the WH this year by winning those red and purple states that are fed up and ready for a shakeup in Wash. (especially the western states)

Really none of us has that crystal ball (however if any of you do can I borrow it for lottery #'s lol) to really know which way it will go which is why all we can do is go thru the process and let it play out.

I do agree that the dems are there own worst enemy right now...WHile I don't think the drawn out primary is hurting, it's giving everyone a voice...the petty bickering and getting offended over the slighest perceived injustice on BOTH sides is just getting ridiculous. Both need to focus on their own message and not worry about the other person and let the voters see who you are and make a decision based on that , not the he says she says crap.
You can bet your last dollar that the reps are taking notes for the GE. It needs to stop and stop now. Whether it be BO or HRC we REALLY need a dem in the WH again.

Anywho, thanks for some meaningful discussion that seems to be rare these days. It's refreshing to talk to someone of a different view with an open mind and without nastiness.

And may the best man win ;) .

Thanks for your own contribution to some meaningful discussion! It's certainly possible here and some people actually seem to want it very badly.

By the way your line is very clever. :thumbsup2

Because so many of the Obama supporters can't see the outside world from the sunshine being blown up their bums. I think they're in for a really harsh reality when the sunshine starts to go away and the real world seeps in and the pink ponies and rainbows go away.

My mom started swaying towards Obama for about half a day, we all got the hope and change email from her. We had her straightened out by the end of the day, the sunshine and one speech got to her and she was moved, the facts moved her back. :rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:

You know it is posts like this that cause us all to argue and accuse the other side of all kinds of things. I;m glad that I realize there are posters on this thread that can accept (though not agree with) that there are Obama supporters who know it isn't all sunshine and smilies (oh wait isn't that in the title of THIS thread) and can still have a meaningfull conversation. And you know what BelleBoo, after the last 8 years, I would think we are ALL ready for some sunshine.. :rotfl: :rotfl: :lmao: :sad2:

I have to laugh. That's exactly it, isn't it? Sunshine and Rainbow Bright...for a generation raised on Care Bears and Smurfs. :rotfl: :lmao:

You've had your chance to tell your side, and that's fine, but you're not a Hillary supporter and I really don't see the need for you to be here honestly.

Furthermore, you don't know me or what I've gone through for the last 8 years, but I'll give you a brief version. My husband has a stable job, that he spent years in college not to mention moving to the other side of the world to get. We have at times been the only support system for my unemployed mentally ill father, also an Obama supporter though I don't think the mental illness and Obama support necessarily go hand in hand. As an aside, his birthday present to me last year was another suicide attempt, happy 30th to me. As soon as he was diagnosed as bi-polar my worthless older brother ran for the hills. There have been times where my husband and I have been left picking up the pieces and holding the bill to get my father a place to stay or he would be homeless. So the last 8 years have been taking care of my dad and our three kids, one of them requires frequent and expensive medical care - out of pocket. So yeah, it's not a walk in the park, but we still make it work.

I was raised by hippies, I've had enough sunshine and hope blown my direction to last me a lifetime. I want real change not a lot of talk without proof to back it up. I'm tired of all talk and no action, I've had it all my life and I'll be damned if I'm going to hop on the hope bandwagon for a politician that's doing the same thing I've been spoonfed my whole life - no thank you!

Not only does this article explain Obama well...it gives him a good name....

SNOB-AMA!!!!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

"Having grown up in one of those small Pennsylvania towns Sen. Barack Obama sneers at, I know what really makes people there "bitter." It's slick-talking politicians who look down on their beliefs and values.

Small-town people get doubly "bitter" when those pols have the gall to ask for their votes while demeaning their lives. See, even hicks don't like being played for suckers

Snob-ama is not just out of touch. He's from another planet.

He might consider going back there, because the White House now looks out of reach. All the more so because he later added opposition to gay marriage as another sign of benighted bitterness.

Snob-ama's lame concession yesterday that his mistake was "I didn't say it as well as I should have" only makes the repeated smear worse. He should get off his Ivy League horse and apologize to the millions of Americans he insulted. As it stands, he has confirmed he doesn't understand or respect them

As gaffes go, they don't get much bigger. Then again, it's not a gaffe when you believe what you're saying, as Snob-ama clearly does.

Such a dark view of heartland hearts is not very Christian and suggests Snob-ama really did hear the rants of his pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright. The mentor who led him to Jesus Christ seems a bitter man who wraps his hate for America in the trappings of religion"

I posted this before, and riled a few feathers. Obamas campaign is "Lets take the Good Ship Lollipop, follow the yellow brick road all while singing "Tommorrow"!;)

I lost my mind for about thirty second, I went to the Obama thread, then turned around quickly. I didn't realize they are they higher class of the democratic party. Wow, I feel so...blah now. ;) :rotfl:

You know, I don't know you and I do feel for your situation  . However, I posted here in a polite way until YOU decided I had something coming out of my butt ( ok that is pretty funny how you put that) because I wasn't voting for your chosen one. And no offense, really but how is your problems Obama's faults??? Or Hillarys for that matter?? My dad has issues that are TOTALLY related to the NAFTA type policies that are a direct result of a CLINTON policy -and her denial of supporting it while spending almost a million dollars earned from it really hit a sore spot. And I am voting for Obama because he I feel he is the one to be able to get us back on track...Do I think he will cure everything? Heck no and I really don't even think it will be fixed in the next 5-10 years but I DO feel that with Hillary, we are in for more of the same.

As for dis rules, it has been pointed out time after time that anyone can post
on any thread...I normally do stay out of here, but this recent garbage of calling Obama an elitist (who has a $109 million income again??) and pretending every thing is all peachy keen in Pa (you do realize that on Mar. 20 Rendell pretty much said that Pa was in deep trouble, but miraculously last night all is well and good...and that doesn't raise eyebrows?? check his website if you want to see what he said it;s quite interesting.) and other towns across the country when I have first hand experience that it isn't, really hit home.

So, since you want to play dis police, I"ll go ahead (again) and go..Thanks Jarn, Planogirl, Merry Poppins and the few others who welcomed me here despite my opposite views., I thought maybe we could all have some rational discussions, but unfortunately, your fanatics have other ideas. They would rather name call and play school games, and frankly I don't want to stoop to that level. I'd like to believe I am more mature than that. Maybe another time.!! Thanks anyways...It was nice while it lasted.

I just ventured to the Obama thread. You know what I find interesting? Numberous times Obama's supporters have blasted us for talking more about Obama than Hillary. Ummmm, there is sure more talk about Hillary on their last few pages than talk about Obama. Interesting that they're guilty of what they accuse us of.

Sorry that Obama supporters don't feel like they are welcome here. Personally, I don't mind having them around if they can play nice. And I don't think we should say mean things to them. Unfortunately, most seem to want to say nasty things about Hillary and I think that's why some of us aren't friendly.

I have no problems with how you view your candidate. We here also feel passionate about ours. As for the recent comment from Obama I personally did find it insulting. Although I am well off financially as Hillary is( no not as much:rotfl2: ) my roots came from a poor family. that is where my values still lye. I am still poor in my roots. I have many friends that are millionaires and many of them came from nothing. They still hold there values of how money was for them at one time. kinda like if you look at a basketball player or football player or even a lottery winner that came from nothing and know has everything...the person who they were does not just leave because they know have money.

So I did take offense. And was more upset when he said that he meant what he said but not the way he said it. To me it is who he is. But no one here is asking you to change your mind about how you feel about it. That is your choice. But you wont be able to change some over here like me that disagree with you.

We all have different life experiences and interpret things like that on how we have lived and seen. As for NAFTA she does not agree with it and has even fought Bill on it has told him that not even he can change her mind on how she feels. Obama and she are planning on revising it...it is McCain that is not. So if you need to be upset about NAFTA you need to look at McCain.:thumbsup2

I think that the Obama and Hillary supporters need to concentrate on bringing in McCain info to each others threads and discussing him and keeping Hillary and Obama remarks from going into the others. It only causes us bad blood and we get no where. JMO

I agree and in addition...we will never agree with either ones candidates....we are divided into 2 different parties for know. Funny how ever that Obama is the one to say that he will unite us all. :confused3 well where is all the uniting at. If I had seen it he may have gotten a hold of me....

The OS say well it is the Hillary supporters that are not letting that happen ...if she would just leave it would. Well ummm if he was a true uniter than no-re Hillary or anyone else could stand in the way of that.

His thoughts to him and his supporters are clear...but only to his supporters is there unity. He has not united the Rep to him either....I wish that all he has said and hoped for would have been true because he would have had me lock stock and barrel...but that has not been down to be except for in words.

As Obama has said....Words mean everything.....well they do to me also and his words on his last comment told me everything. He feels like he is better than me. But I have seen that from the beginning and that is one of the things that turned me off to him and his wife....were the look of this :snooty:

I saw that same look many times growing up in a wealthy town and going to a wealthy HS of people and kids look down on me and others because I/we were not ONE OF THEM....and did not belong to a Beach club.

I have a bitter taste in my mouth from that. And know that I have money we donate and volunteer and server food with my kids at soup kitchens. They have friends that are struggling everyday and so do I and we get it

We look at no one like this :snooty:

Okay, so I'd admit, I didn't read all of the pages, just the first and last one. But I wanted to put in my two cents worth. I plan to vote for Hillary for Pres. GO HILLARY!

If you decide to check back (bet you will - I would! ;) ), realize that there are all kinds of supporters on both sides and these supporters all have different viewpoints and approaches. Lots of Obama supporters (not all!) are ready to throw all of us under the bus so sometimes we might be a little leery and gunshy of any of you.

As for what Hillary supposedly did, I can't see blaming her for her husband's policies. People do things at times because they believe that these things will work and then later they find out that they most definitely did not work. All the good intentions in the world won't help people like your Dad but I believe that Bill did not intentionally plan to hurt anyone. Lots of people bought into the NAFTA myth and unfortunately way too many people are paying for it now. We have to decide who seems most likely to help the situation and move forward IMO.

Some of them go on and on about Hillary! I wish that I had that much time to constantly attack someone.

Many of them are very rational and articulate though. You just have to weed through the constant slams which is too much work IMO.
