I also feel that McCain is the best person out the 2 when it comes to security....as for making peace around the world....you cant make peace with Religious fanatics that want anyone dead that does not agree with there religion.

My DH and I were talking yesterday about all the moneys ...billions that is to help other country's. That is great and yes we need to help but heck....doubling it is with the state we are in at this time.

So when I say I am 50% for McCain that is because of security. Both have just about the same experience when it comes to the Economy.

The debates I am hoping will push me one way or the other. Otherwise I will not vote or end up standing in the voting booth for hrs.

I need to figure out what I am going to do about our big Senate election. The mudslinging ads have already been in full force here. The thing is I can not stand the current Senator Norm Coleman (R) and I just can not get myself to support Al Franken (D). Looks like I will be voting Indpendent for the Senate race (need to research the guy some more before I commit to that though).
This might be the first time I didn't vote for ANY Democrats in an elections.
It's actually sad because I used to be proud to be a Democrat. Don't know if the party has changed or maybe I just grew up and opened my eyes or maybe some of my beliefs have changed

I totally agree with your thoughts on economy. I really do not think either of them know what to do about the economy.

WOW my brain is ready to burst with just one election..if I had to I think I would just melt I'ts funny, In the morning I wake up and say I will vote for Obama . The DEM side gets the best of me and I rationalize why I should vote Democratic. Than the day goes by and I start thinking about all that has gone on and been said and that I have learned...yada yada yada than I am like...crap I just can't vote for Obama.

I hate BUSH so much that I start to think....what if McCain does turn out to be another BUSH ....but my gut tells me he is not BUSHY BABY.....yes, I see the republican side of Bush with McCain but not the man or all his policy's. I truly see him as a more Moderate/Independent Rep and a man that has experience. Than come Palin...she is so far right that the DEM side of me feels like oil and water against her.

I am hoping that the VP debates will also help me with that. Mean whaile I will just sit back and do this

My biggest problem with Obama is that he doesn't explain how he will finance some of these things he wants to do. I think that the current administration has spent disgracefully but I don't see where Obama plans to fix that problem.

I personally don't feel good about either of the candidates but McCain is a Republican and shows some pretty questionable judgment IMO. (Palin?) That is still keeping me in the Democratic camp.

This is what I think will happen with the financing of a lot of the much needed domestic programs will be coming from:

1. Congress will appeal the Bush tax cuts for the extremely wealthy.

2. We won't be spending the trillion dollars a month on the stupid war in Iraq.

I also take him at his word that he will withdraw from Iraq responsibly, and shore up troops in Afghanistan, where perhaps special ops can infiltrate Pakistan and finally capture Bin Laden and bring him to justice.

I see it like this - I'd rather have Obama and his on-the-job learning with Biden by his side (not to mention a well qualified cabinet) than an experienced McCain who will continue the Bush doctrine and the war in Iraq.........

That is my thought process behind my Obama vote.

I guess that I'm so tired of a President that spends like a madman and I worry that Obama won't cut back maybe because he won't be ABLE to. At least not for a while.

Don't forget he is moving the troops into Afghanistan so we will still be at war spending all that money but in Afghanistan instead spending it...we just wont be in Iraq with as many troops. He does not plan on pulling all the troops out of Iraq either. He said he will still leave some troops there. So we still will be at war.

One of the problems with Bin Laden is that there are many mountains and caves and the terraine is very tough. So it wont be an easy job for either of the candidates to get the job done in a short period of time...if at all.

Can you guys believe the ugliness surrounding Palin's nomination? I'm glad to see that most Liberals, wherever they stand, don't seem to care for much of this stuff. I just wish that they'd leave the lady's daughter alone. There's enough to go after just based on her beliefs.

Some people are idiots. Anyone who attacks a candidate's kid or brings them into the campaign as a weapon is an idiot. I understand when Chelsea was campaigning there is a little bit of a difference in that you can address her directly and ask her some difficult questions unlike a kid who's just standing behind their parent, but the moron who asked about the parents relationship to her was an idiot too. And her personal life is off limits too.

I think "responsibly" means moved out the troops on a staggered basis, leaving behind troops to protect those that are still there...... You can't just pick up and leave en masse without leaving that country with some way to protect itself from al qaeda (who we let in there)........

But there will be savings as its done...... Though the government will have to re-equip itself ........

So I guess I don't know how much will be saved. lol

I trust Obama to renew the focus on bin Laden - and not the scary "evil doers" that Bush used to govern out of fear.

In my opinion, the main war should have been Afghanistan - it was never finished, and al qaeda is flourishing there......

The only reason I can see bring up a child's problems is if it showcases hypocrisy on the part of the politician parent.

This happens on both sides - and its sad that the kids don't have privacy due to what their parent chooses to do for a living.

1. Jeb Bush's daughter - prescription drug addict - arrested I believe
2. Bush twins - drinking under 18
3. Al Gore Jr - speeding - maybe DWI (I can't remember)
4. Goes as far back as GHWB Sr getting GWB Jr into the National Guard to avoid the draft.

There are probably many other examples to list.......

In these cases - if their parents were to do something illegal to help the kids - its news.

I read an article that stated Palin's view on abortion are such - if her daughter were raped - she'd force her to have the baby....... In a round about way - her minor teenage daughter being pregnant is sort of news......

ST. PAUL -- Donna Brazile was hit by pepper spray as she walked to the Xcel Center at the start of the Republican Convention here.

The well-known Democratic pundit and strategist confirmed the incident, but declined to comment further. Protests outside the convention center led to 56 arrests earlier in the day.

Brazile is the Chair of the Democratic National Committee's Voting Rights Institute and was a delegate at the Democratic National Convention in Denver.
