Hijinks & Shenanigans but not much Mayhem@The Dark Side+Disney:Link to DL/Hawaii TR

Love Ben's hijinks:rotfl: and the wee tan line across his forehead :goodvibes The men in my life always come home with a similar line and so it always makes me smile and think of florida :)
Food looks delicious- love the crinkle-cut chips with the chicken burger. Somehow they just taste like proper potatoes to me and so I can kid myself I'm being healthy-ish :lmao::rotfl2:

Looks like you will be getting this report finished up just in time to start this years trip :) Not long now :goodvibes

We did not enjoy our breakfast at Captain's Grille at all, but we did love our dinner there last December. I think I want to try to move a ressie or two around and get back to Captain's Grille. Your hubby's burger with the crab meat on top is making me drool big time.

Hmmm....no dessert for the boys? There had to be some good reason.

I remember that you were not blown away by the breakfast there, but I'm glad you gave the restaurant another chance. I think I will be meeting up with a friend's family for breakfast at Captain's Grille on my one day "drive-by" Beach Club DISmeet visit in August.

For research purposes only! What I sacrifice for my friends on the FAQ thread!

:rotfl2:

It seems weird to me that nobody got dessert. But then again, we all had our share of sweets the previous evening. But still...

:)

We drove back home that day so we missed all the humidity :drive:
Another meal at the Captain's Grille, eh? Wow, that place was empty! Your lunch looked really delicious. Now I'll really have to add it to our list of must do's for next time.

I knew that was your last day- I couldn't remember if you had anything planned. On our last couple of trips we have scheduled late flights and actually had park time on our last day. But we never used to that.

We have had 3 dinners and 1 lunch at Captain's Grille. They have all been great meals. CG definitely lacks a strong "Disney-theming" but I like that it is rarely crowded, so it is a little respite from all the people we deal with all week.

:thumbsup2

WOW, Captain's Grill is JAMMED!!!!! Lucky they were able to squeeze you in. :goodvibes

PHEW!!! Must have been Karma!

:rotfl2:

Lunch looks so delicious. That burger is to die for! The chowder looks wonderulf. How were the lobster sliders? You're from NE. Did that hold up to a New Englander's standards?

Great choice of lunch!

Glad you approved of our lunch location.

I believe I used the recommendation from your lunch with Cynthia to assure Mark that was a good choice for him to order.

Good question about the lobster sliders. They were not particularly memorable. Not the best I have ever had, but not the worst. Decent. It fit my mood and I would order them again depending on the other menu choices.

:goodvibes

Umm.....Yumm!::yes::

::yes::

You know me so well! Yes, I have a couple more posts to finish this up and I will get it done before I leave. I may even try to squeeze in a wee pre-trip report for our upcoming vacation.

It was good to see Ben smile (even if was a pineapple-puss) after his mood as we were leaving the Studios.

The meal was delicious and really refreshed us all.

:woohoo:

I've heard good things about lunch at Captain's Grille. I'll remember that for our September trip. :)

I can't believe how close your Disneyland/Hawaii trip is. It will be a great trip. :goodvibes

Wow that lunch did look delicious!!! We have yet to make it there to eat. It is on my list. Yesterday morning I got an ADR for last night at Cali Grill to watch the fireworks!!!! I just got lucky and someone must have just cancelled that one. It was an amazing meal and of course the 4th of July fireworks ( on the 3rd ;)) were super amazing from up there!!
If you get a chance to do this I highly recommend it. Sorry for going off your TR.

Nice! You too Dee!

Thanks!

:)

Same to you Dee and to all who celebrate :goodvibes

Thank you!

:goodvibes

Dee- looks delicious!

Happy 4th to you as well!

Rebecca

We enjoyed the meal.

Hope you had a nice 4th. The Boston fireworks were early, on Thursday and our towns' display is tonight. We can see most of them from our front yard, so we won't be going too far.

:thumbsup2

We have enjoyed all of the meals we have had at CG. 3 dinners and one lunch- I will probably check out the breakfast in August.

One week from today we will be at Disneyland. Can't wait, but I should be entering the pre-trip panic zone just.about.NOW!

:scared1:

That sounds awesome about your dinner at California Grill!!! I have never dined there but the experience sounds incredible.

No problem- please share whatever you would like here.

Happy Independence day weekend!

Love the Captain's Grille reviews. I'm hoping to slot it in for a breakfast or two (maybe crashing someone else's breakfast plans) during our trip in August (43 days from now, not that I'm anxiously counting down the days.)

Dee, I am hot just reading these updates!

Glad you got some food, a mickey bar and funnel cake in that kind of heat...need some protein to soak it all up! Excellent choice at CG. Way to beat the BTG but oh my, that CM on the movie ride. That could make for a long delay, feeling twice as long.

:rotfl: on the selfie, I can never manage those, I'm always frowning somehow.

I should go there for lunch in Aug. I will be at the dolphin for a conference anyways. I now have the urge to go look at the menu!!!! :thumbsup2

Thank you for the holiday greetings!

Hope you can make it to our breakfast. party:

After I am back from my July trip, I need start seriously concentrating on my August quickie.

Wet the night before at MK for the Wishes Dessert party, and HOT at HS. I think I prefer hot.

I thought my queue technique at TSM was pretty clever, but it certainly backfired when we arrived at RNR.

The experience on GMR was just BAD! I don't think a CM has ever made me feel more uncomfortable and squirmy than she did.

I like the idea of selfies- because I am the one behind the camera, I always have to beg for photos of myself, which seems vain. But my execution is definitely lacking.

Thought of you and your lunch at CG as we were deciding on a restaurant and I was glad I was able to recommend the burger to Mark.

:goodvibes

Captain's Grille is definitely a hidden gem. Excellent food and a great place to escape the Disney crowds.

I'm going to try to get this puppy finished up today!

We are leaving for our summer dream trip on Saturday, and I don’t want to leave any loose ends hanging. If I get a chance later in the week, I’ll do a quick pre-trip report: Where we are staying and what we are planning on doing. I will write a full-blown trip report, probably on the Disneyland Subforum- I’ll let link it here when I start.

After lunch, my family and I had different ideas about what we should do with our remaining time at the Beach Club. Mark, Nate and Ben decided to hang out in the concierge lounge and play cards. I opted for a trip to the pool to complete a mission that nobody else has been willing to take on.

Not everyone can say this, but I have minions. Quite often, when people are getting ready to leave for a trip to the Yacht or Beach Club, they will ask me if there is any information I would like them to check out and report back or if there are pictures I would like them to take.

A couple of times, I asked people if they would “Time the Lazy River”; that is, figure out how long it take to circumnavigate the course from one point and back again, with no paddling, using only the propulsion of the jets in the pool.

I had no takers.

If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself!

But first missions, first. I needed to change into my swimsuit, so I went to the locker room in the health club. I made sure to take a couple of pictures of the spa desk and a few in the unoccupied locker room area. Unfortunately, recently, a new policy was put into place that only spa guest may use the showers and lockers in the health club.

That policy bites! There are outdoor showers poolside and new lockers near Beaches & Cream but that just ain’t the same!

After I made what I didn’t realize would be my only visit ever to the locker room, I found a chair for my things and I set off to find a tube so I could perform my ground-breaking (surface-breaking?) research.

I won’t leave you in suspense about the lazy river: 7 minutes.

I loved looking up at our room from the pool (so sad, it was no longer our room at this point)

A few more pool pictures

Bye Bye SAB!

Continued from Previous Post

I reunited with my family back in the lounge after my swim and we gathered our stuff to bring down to the lobby to await the Tragical Depress.

:sad1:

I am happy to report one more positive interaction before we left: Cathy (catho72) walked by where we were sitting and said good bye to us.

As for the rest of our journey home-

I believe we stopped at Caribbean Beach on the way back to the airport. Here is the picture of pretty flowers I took from the bus window.

I liked this display in one of the airport gift shops

There’s our plane!

One really cool thing that happened during our flight was that we flew very close to a lightning storm. It was really cool to watch the flashes of lightening. I tried to take some pictures, but they didn’t really come out, but I do have some video, however it is too long (and boring) to post.

And surprisingly, we had one final DIS interaction in the plane on the way home. We found ourselves being pestered by a fly in the cabin. Seriously. That has never happened before, so I have to believe that it was Fly Ondewalz (aka Buzzy) from the Beach & Yacht Club FAQ. I didn’t share any snacks with him, and according to reports, he is back causing trouble at the resort so he must have just stayed on the plane as it returned to Florida, looking for greener, or browner, pastures.

That’s it folks! As Phil on Amazing Race would say...

8 days. 6 Theme Parks. 3+ DISmeets. 2 resorts. 1 fantastic trip!

Thank you so much for following along with me for the past year as I recounted what was one of our best visits to Florida.

Aloha!

:beach:

Dee, I understand why you had to time how long it took to make a complete round in the SAB....it was research purposes and for the sake of the Dis. :thumbsup2 That's the same reason I risked life, limb and Disney jail for the CBR thread. ;)

We took a walk over to the Beach Club and the Yacht Club while on our last trip and both are absolutely gorgeous! What I wouldn't give to stay at one of them. But, my pocketbook just won't allow it unless we make our trips shorter.

How neat that you were able to visit with one more Diser before boarding ME. Oh and a Dis Meet on the plane too!
