Just back from HIFS and for those of you who have been there before they have replaced the train in the lobby with a model of what the resort will look like after the renovations are complete Early spring 2005. Both pools will be kid-oriented pools with slides and fountains etc. They are moving the lobby entrance to the Continental Gateway side of the property and it looks like there will be a larger food area and game room.

I took some pictures of the model but haven't a clue as to how to post them. If someone can tell me how to do it, I'll be happy to post them here or I could e-mail them to someone who knows how to do it for anyone who cares.

Thanks for posting, I'm with you, I don't know how to post but wanted to bump this up hoping that someone who does know how to post will contact you. Thanks again for the info. We'll be going in August and was informed by reservation person that the pool should be finished by then. Hope they were correct.:teeth:

Have they started any of the renovations yet? Just wondering what to expect when we are there at the end of April.

They had a computer that was running a presentation with the proposed schedule and I wish I had written it down because of course now I can't remember, but as of last week there was no noticeable renovations going on. If you call down there, I'll bet they will be able to give you a very good idea of what to expect for the time that you'll be there because the schedule is posted right there on the computer in the lobby. The model and computer were not there the first day we checked in and the next afternoon there it was!

Just spoke to the hotel (we're down there in two weeks) and she confirmed that when we arrive the West pool will be under renovation, the lobby will still be under renovation, and the food court will just be beginning renovation.

Why are they doing this in early April when it's peak season?

When I emailed them last week, they said the pool rennovations will not start till May 1, 2004. Hope that is true as we are down there the 21-30, I will email her again and post again.

Just received email and they said they are behind schedule and still to this day, pool renovations will not start to 5/1. So good news for the ones going in April.

Can change, but so far this is the schedule..........:bounce:

We are going in May. Here is the last update I received yesterday.
"Referencing our tentative construction schedule, during May the Lap pool area will be closed for renovations. The Family Fun Pool area will remain open during this time with all the amenities and fun activities. There will always be at least one pool open during the entire transformation. We will also be constructing a brand new lobby in a currently unused area of the resort, this not affecting the existing lobby. There may be some renovations in the commons area as well, but we are planning on always having alternative dining options if a food area or restaurant is closed for renovations. This transformation is being spread over an entire year in order to create the least amount of disruption at any one time for all our guests staying during this period. This schedule is subject to change."
I hope the food area is not closed for renovations- starting to consider staying somewhere else.

We are going at the beginning of May and when I had called a couple of weeks ago they told me on the phone that at that time they would be working on the West Pool, Food Court and New Lobby. I am considering staying somewhere else, even though they say that they will try to stay out of the guests way, I have a 21 month old dd that will need to come back for naps and my 4 yo ds will likely nap after a long morning too. I don't want to have the risk of any construction noise disturbing them. We had gone through this at another hotel last year and were not happy about it. The only thing is I like the idea of having the separate rooms for the kids to sleep in while we can watch tv or something else.

I'm going to wait and see what other people experience when they go in the next few weeks.
