Hi new here, need help

Hi guys Im new here and would like to know the following, not a techy im afraid.

1)How do I add some info below my name on the left with a picture too

2) Would like to add one of those countdown things with some smilies

3) Would like to link a picture of myself and my baby, but it says you cant add attachments on the forum rules ?????

Any help would be good , but make it simple!!

For a picture (avatar), click on User CP at the top of the page, then "Edit Options". Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page, and click "Change Avatar". There are bunches to choose from.

You can't change the text right now while you're still a "Welcomed Guest". It's 25 posts (everybody, is that right? is it 75?--I don't remember) until it says there that you're a DIS Veteran, in which case you do this:
Click on "User CP" again, then click on "Edit Profile". Scroll down to where it says "Custom User Text" and type whatever it is you want. It will be black text. Only the Tag Fairy can give you color there. The Tag Fairy goes through your posts, finds something funny or clever that you said and puts it there.

Not sure what you mean... do you just want to post a pic or put it in your signature?

Will Ive joined the photo gallary and uploaded a couple of pics , any one know how long it takes for approval??? How do I do cartoony pictures also.

I suppose i should really ask this on the tech site. Just getting overwhelmed this is such a extensive site to get around.

Hi Gracey, welcome to the DIS!!!!!

My sister, Laura, gave good info on most everything there... but you have to wait 3 months (I think) to be able to update your text. I know you don't have to have 75 posts (which will make you a DIS Veteran), just that alotted time (whatever it really is).

I am not sure how long it takes for approval. I would guess that depends all on where you signed up.

To get a cartoon like picture in your signature, you can find the picture you want, click with the right mouse button, and select "Save Picture As..." Then you can save it to your computer and follow the directions for uploading and putting in your signature as is found in the link Laura gave you to the tech site. It will be exactly the same once it is on your computer

Hey Gracey, nice to see you. Enjoy the DIS, great place, great people.

You should be able to edit the area under your screen name after 30 days, it will automatically change to DIS veteran after 75 posts, but again, you can edit it to whatever (no HTML coding though) after 30 days. While you are waiting for 'picture approval' (I hate to wait, LOL), you might check into www.imagestation.com to upload your pictures/clips and use that for hosting. There has been some thoughts that they may not allow linking at some point, but seems to still work for now. Also, many here (me included) use http://www.worldzone.net/plus.html. For $12 per year, you get a nice package, linking included.

In any case, enjoy.
