I opened the Reading paper this morning & saw that Obama was in downtown Reading yesterday during an "unscheduled" stop. Can't imagine that with security, deadlines, etc, that anything is really "unscheduled"!! It stated that he was here long enough to greet people, shake hands, have pictures taken & stop into his local headquarters to talk with staff.

they do indeed make unscheduled stops and it drives the secret service crazy,

years ago I had the opportunity to drive a car in the vice president's motorcade, when Dan Quayle was in the Harrisburg area for a republican fundraiser, I was driving his press secretary and his photographer, all the cars were equipped with radios,on the way from the airport, to the fundraiser, the VP heard that a Giant store on the west shore was having a grand opening, he decided it would be a good publicity stop,, the radios went wild as the secret service scrambled to send an advance team out to check out the store, the people in my car talked about how much the secret service hated such impromptu stops since normally they check things out weeks in advance,so off we went, the VP's limo pulled up right in front of the store, followed by the gunner vehicle, and then my car, the gunner jumped out of the gunner vehicle and started scanning the parking lot, with a look on his face that said"just give me a reason to shoot"

the VP went into the store went back to the bakery, bought a donut, posed for a few pics and left,

while waiting outside the store it was funny to see the look on people's faces as they exited the store or approached the store and saw the limo with the big seal on the side,

it was such a unique experience for me that I remember it like it was yesterday

All went well. I just woke up! I've never been this doped up after a colonoscopy, ever. The other times I may have rested a little & then was back to normal. I even went out to breakfast on the way home last time. Today we came home at 9am & I've been sound asleep ever since. They removed one polyp & sent it to pathology, same as last time. So nothing major. Now I need to EAT! Sorry for the pity party last night. Thanks for checking in everyone!

Hi Kelliroo ! I didn't hear anything about the lockdown . What happened?

On Tuesday the school sent text messages saying there's an emergency. Then they sent another saying a person on campus is a potential threat. Stay behind locked doors. Do not go outside. We were in lockdown for about two hours until they found the person. Apparently he was making threats about shooting people. It was scary.

Tara, glad everything is okay. I'm glad you didn't get sick like I did after mine. I guess it was from the anesthesia (is that spelled right?).

Yes, that is spelled right. I am glad it is over for you Tara and that things went well. I didn't have any problem with the anesthesia when I had my colonoscopy, but this past Tuesday I had my upper endoscopy and I don't remember them handing me a soda or stating that I was in a slumped position. My DH says I was out of it, I didn't remember the doctor telling me about the exam and asked the nurse. I wasn't knocked out for the rest of the day though. Tara, you probably needed to sleep. Hope you don't have to have one of these again for a little while.

Black bears are so scary when they're at your house! We've had a few spotted in our area in the last few years. There was one in the next door neighbor's yard when we lived at the old house in the woods. I didn't go outside alone or let the kids out alone all summer! We encounter black bears on a daily basis at our cabin in Potter County. Over the years they have become more daring & aggressive. Very scary. They are HUGE when they're right up close to you! My dad, who hunts in Potter County (and yes he has a black bear rug from one he shot!) said they are scared by loud noises. He always tells us that if we see one & can't get to safety to scream & yell & make as much noise as possible.

We are going May 1st & coming home the 4th. Tara - if you want to have a meal with us on Sunday (or hang out) send me a pm. I don't know what park we will be doing yet. we are going for the Pin Event. So we are doing two days (non-hopping as the boys don't have annual passes) in the Parks, Friday & Sunday and we are letting my nephews choose.

then we go back again 11/30 through 12 (60th celebration bash)

Hi Penny! What Pin Event??? I might have to check that out if it's still going on May 4th! We get to FL at 2pm on the 4th & then I plan to head to MK since it's open til 11pm that night. But nothing's set in stone. I'd love to meet up with you & your family - I'm starting to think I'll be lonely on this trip not having anyone to share the magic with! I have no transportation however, I need to take a taxi to & from the parks, so it might be hard for me to connect with you unless it's onsite that I can use Disney transportation. Tell me more about the Pin Event!

The pin event is for saturday only and it is all sold out. We are staying (I believe) at Windso Hills and will have a van as I use an ECV. We leave on the 5th and will spend the day at one park on Friday and one on Saturday. I am letting the boys decide (12 & 14) which parks as this is only their 2nd trip there. We talked about buying non-expiring park hoppers, but I am sure they won't get back any time soon and with our luck if we tired to use the left over days we would get drawn and quartered in the middle of town square.
I know they are going to want to do MGM (or whatever the new name is) one day, but they haven't decided about the 2nd day. at first it was going to be AK but we will be spending Saturday night at the pin event there. So if they pick MK we could hook up. if you want to email me I will send you my cell phone number? It would be nice to meet up with a PA person. They are from Delaware County and we are from Philly.
