I also wonder if people have a different mindset the further away from a city you are. The feeling of we are all in a nice neighborhood, so no criminals could possibily be here.
WE just moved to our house in Schuylkill Haven, and we have kids across the street from us, they all play together outside, but I'm leary about having them go inside. I know the parents, but not well enough yet, I suppose. My 11 YO DD has become friends with a girl just down the road, and she is allowed to play there, but again, I'm not comfortable with them playing inside. And last night I became the over-protective parent because 3 of my children were over at the neighbors jumping on their trampoline, well, their trampoline doesn't have a net on it, and I don't want them jumping on one that doesn't have a net. Now we have a trampoline, but it has a net on it. So I guess it's more fun with no net, but I was concerned with the bouncing off and injuring yourselves part of the no net issue.
Needless to say, I'm sure I'm mean, but I'd rather having them walking past me probably mumbling under their breath and not.
