Hi everyone; here's my experience from the TM preview Wednesday night
Lined up super early but I wanted a good spot to see the characters come out and also I would be guaranteed to have a roof and a fan over my head while I waited. Basically was first in one of the turnstiles for the 7pm opening
At about 5 to 7pm Chance's voice came on and invited us to come join her crew. A couple of the scare actors with chainsaws were at the front waiting for us.
TM preview means not everything is up and running as expected so the first scare zone was empty (Vamps) I walked over to Halloween 2, which was my priority. As we all lined up we were told that the house would open at 7:30pm. Actually saw the line of about 10 Michael Myers, all wearing robes s we couldn't see their costumes/faces, walk inside. This house is awesome, lots of scares and cool effects
Next was Lunatics Playground 3D, waited only 20 minutes, they gave me the 3D glasses and we entered the twisted, trippy mind of Chance. If you were there last year this one is very similar to the Alice house, lots of fun, not that scary.
I went back to see the Vamps scare zone since a friend of mine was working there, really cool concept.
After that I watched the Academy of Villains show, wow, just wow. If you like dance troupes these guys and gals are amazing. Great show, loved it
I decided to wait for my son (he was working earlier) and met with him and checked out the rest of the scare zones. I have to say that this years zones were not that scary, comparing to last years. They were still fun and inventive but not scary.
We went to the Tombs of the Ancient house and my son and I agreed that it looked like something out of Hidden Temple and Indiana Jones, the theming is amazing, lots of cool effects. Probably my favorite house.
We went over to Krampus and I knew nothing about this one and still enjoyed it, only house that actually gave me a good scare. Very well themed, there are smells in this one, really cool
After that we walked around a bit but all the other houses had super long waits and I was tired so we lined up for Bill and Ted. If you are a Sw fan you will enjoy the show this year, that's the only spoiler I will give.
Overall a great night. I'm sure that the scare actors will hit their stride tonight.
The most popular houses all night seem to be American Horror Stories and The Exorcist

Thanks for this review. That's cool about the smells in Krampus house. We're doing the AP early entry on 9/24 and can't wait!

Thanks for the report. I'm ready excited to finally be able to attend HHN this year.

Thanks for the great report! I am bummed that we are missing this years HHN, but we will be there next year!

You ventured to the dark side!:yay:

Yulilin, for those of you who aren't familiar with her, has a long-running, incredibly helpful thread as to Star Wars Weekends (fingers crossed for 2017 return :darth:) and is very knowledgeable and patient with the clueless among us:earboy2:.

Have found her thoughts to be very spot-on, soooo....I'm psyched to read your thoughts as to what sounds to be a very promising HHN event this year!:bounce:

Couple of questions for you:

How long was the Academy of Villians show?

Would like to think the scareactors in the zones will refine their skills. Which one did you like the best?

Re Tombs of the Ancient house: is it the 'cold' house this year?

You're to sweet
The show about 20 minutes, grabbed a table outside of Mel's, and watched the show from there, awesome spot cause it's elevated and no one in front of you
My favorite scare zone was vamps floored by the Banshee one. The one by the old disaster, forgot the name, looks like Curse of the Black Pearl. Least favorite was Chance's scare zone
Tombs was not cold, this is my second year going to hhn so not sure what that means. I guess the coldest house was Krampus

Enjoyed reading your review yulilin.........nice to hear your thoughts........

We didn't do much tonight as we are feeling a bit jet lagged.......but.........and I have to say there are not tips about time saving or any advice on what order is best........we just did what we wanted to see as we have plenty of nights.

Went in around 7pm.........looked at AHS straight off.......regular queue at 7ish was 135 minutes.......TM said EP would be about half that time.........gave it a pass........

Went to The Exorcist and absolutely walked straight on.......I think the regular queue was around an hour at this point but could have been slightly less. House was good........not great but, good. Wouldn't queue for a long time for it.........

Did WD next........queue looked quite long and it was about 20 minutes with EP.......regular queue was long!!!!

That was a good house........think it's the first time I really enjoyed the WD house since we have now watched it......thanks Mac.......:thumbsup2"...........some really good effects and a few scares.

Went into the HHN store that has been set up just before the Mummy.........decent little store that has a full size Michael Myers ...........nice!!!

Vamp 55 wasn't a great scare zone.........I never even noticed half the SA.......but will pay more attention Sunday.........

Then walked round to Halloween...........regular queue was longer than they had up......apparently it changed after we joined for 45 minutes to 75 minutes.........we got on in 10 minutes.........

Fabulous house!!! I was worried this was going to be a disappointment after how amazing the first house was 2 years ago........but lots of Michaels.......and I swear they know me!!! Lots of jumps and scares and they know who to pick on........lol.......really enjoyed this house a lot. This is one house we will definitely do every night.......

Walked back out and saw AHS was 55 minutes regular queue.......we waited maybe 20 minutes. The regular queue looked shorter at all times......but, they were led into a giant sound stage to conga queue in there too.......so it wasn't shorter than EP line after all...........

This house was just ok. Murder House part was good........Freaks was better........but Hotel was poor.....very poor. If we got on in around 10 minutes I'd do it again........but wouldn't queue for it.

Chance in Hell scare zone was good.......Chance herself was funny, rude and weirdly cute all at the same time.......think that part will get better. She needed a better participating crowd to interact with her "show".

We have plenty more nights to do the rest........tonight was boiling hot and busiest opening night I've seen in a few years....... We left around 10pm and stopped for some chicken stingers and water.........lots of water!!!

Looking forward to hearing more reviews............but, I like this year's event a lot!

Thanks to both for their reviews

I was reading some on fb and seems like tonight was decent all the way around

Read a few people say scare zones were not scary

Hope more reviews come out as I love to read everyone's opinions about their time at Hhn
