On another thread, someone had mentioned that the entrances for some haunted houses may appear to be right next to each other, but it isn't a straight shot to get there. Instead you may need to walk a good distance to get from the end of one to the entrance to another. I am wondering if anyone has a step counter from 2018 in their health app or pedometer just so we can get an idea of how much walking to expect compared to a normal day at a theme park, or even just a normal day at home. If you are willing to share, I think it would be a cool way to see what to prepare for.

And maybe you could share info like "We did all the houses that night" or "we went a few nights so this one we only did half and then left".

Thanks to anyone willing to share!

I'm probably not a good case study for this as I average about 20k a day at home
When I am at Universal I do a lot more walking than I need to - for example walking to or from the hotel (Aventura)
I will also walk back and forth between the parks or do a lap around citywalk

The days I do HHN and all the houses are are the big step days - I do a lot of laps around the scare zones people watching and taking photos
Alternately I also have days where I hang in one of the bars for 4 or 5 hours talking to the bartenders or other customers and get around 15k steps days

Looking at my steps for the last 2 years on trips to Universal
Spring Break at Unive was 28314 for 9 days - Three of those days were over 35K
HHN 2018 my average was 28910 for 9 days - Three of those were over 34K (I had ROF with express pass this year)
HHN 2017 my average was 32887 for 9 days - Three of those days were over 42k (No express pass)

Anyway - if you are doing both parks and all teh houses at HHN I would expect to do around 35K steps

No step count for HHN but my oldest and just did open to close two days of Disney parks, plus 8 hours (MNSSHP getting there at 4pm). We did average 25k steps/day and I wasn’t nearly as sore as after last years 4 days of HHN- and I was in better shape last year! Training up for this year - as I got kinda a jump start with the Disney days lol

Last year we stayed at the RPR, and took the boat to City Walk. We slept in that morning and did Stay and Scream, and we were in the park 2 hours prior to closing. We skipped Blumhouse and Dead Exposure. We rode 4 rides and spent some time in Diagon Alley. I want to say it was just over 23,000 steps that day.

I know I'm annoying and I sound like a broken record at this point, but last year we were so unprepared, and it really kind of wrecked us for the rest of our trip. I just want to help other people avoid that if I can. Budget your time, budget your steps, plan accordingly.

Great info everyone! I don't often walk a lot at home outside of my work requirements, but I tend to average 16-20K steps during full days at WDW - so I definitely try and keep the pace slow and take some breaks. I hope this thread helps some others too who keep track to get an estimate!

Last year the night we did the RIP tour I clocked in at 29,000 steps. That includes backstage shortcuts. We much preferred doing our own thing with Express since we took breaks and snacks and drinks when and where we wanted to and needed to. Our RIP guide was phenomenal but we love chillin out watching peeps get scared in the scare zones.

Thanks again for sharing everyone - unfortunately, I was just diagnosed this week with a herniated disc in my lower back and have been having issues with walking - so a night full of jump scares is not going to be worth the pain :( May end up going to Epcot Food and Wine instead and getting a wheel chair to help get around. Hopefully some other people will find this useful information though!
