HHN Holding Area?

This so called holding area at US sounds like a prison! Just kidding. But, if you have to kill an hour and a half, but you stay in the park while they are setting up, what can you do? Are any rides still open in some sections?

Just curious.

It's either in the prison or outside the park...you aren't allowed to walk around...the park is closed so everything is shut.

In the past, a house usually opens by 6:00 or 6:15, so you're not stuck the whole hour and a half, and can usually get a head start on the people waiting at the gates.

I remember we were released around 5:45pm on a couple of evenings. Last year they also had drink carts and mdway type games to play while waiting. It's really not bad.

For the life of me, I wonder why USF would miss an opportunity to make additional money. They could have a few of the sit-down restaurants opened in addition to the holding area? If the sit-down restaurants remained openefor dinner, guests could choose to have dinner vs. being "in prison" in the holding area. I've never experienced the holding area, how to they check tickets for those holding "stay and scream" passes for all the guests? Are those that purchased day tix to the parks and also HHN tix, are they escorted out of the park or allowed to be placed in the "holding area/prison", as well.

Thx,
m

The restaurants need time to restock and get set up for the HHN crowds...that's why they close...just like the park does.

As far as the holding area goes...they will scan your ticket once you enter the area. If you're walking around after the park closes, you will be asked to show your HHN ticket for that night and are then directed to the S & S area. If you're in the park before it closes, will not have to leave and then come back in as long as you have a valid HHN ticket for that night.

i know you are kidding but the wait at the S&S area can be passed with yaking with others. some of the other guests have done the park on maybe previous nights. you can get a lot of great info by talking to others.

i don't mind the wait as it isn't that long.

if it is the first night for you at hhn, you can figure out a plan on the route to take while you wait.
you'll see where the houses are and find out which ones will be open early.

and, you can always drink beer while waiting....:woohoo:

what time do u need to be in the park to access the holding area? im thinking before 5 pm:confused:

try to be in the park before 4:50

last year i was running late as i left my hotel later than planned.

i was stopped at 4:55 trying to get into the park by a real cop-per.

i got thru but they were starting to close the entrance to the park at that point.

do what metro stated.
be in the park by 4:30

In previous years we had PAPs and HHN FFP.
We would arrive 4:30 or soon after and enter the park under our PAP.
Then usually we ate at Finnegan's and just stayed there until they allowed us out and to the houses that were open before the public,
There are been times we were corralled and it was bad. Not horrible. Just boring, you had to stand and wait or sit on a curb or in the street. And consider yourself lucky if you could even just leave to go to the bathroom.
We did find some times the corral area at the back of the park was better. At least if you sat nearby on a bench that seemed to be okay (some years).
Finnegan's is really the best bet though. At least it's comfortable there and you can wait out the time.

the last few years we always go to Finnagans for s&s , word of advice
get there early if you want a table or to sit at the bar . Its gets very
crowded and "lively":cool1:
