Hhn 2012

One question, we stay at Lake Buena Vista and will be heading up there on the iride, so am reading re Stay and Scream but obviously this isn't going to apply to us.

What time should we be getting there? What time does it open?
HHN starts around 6:30pm...I say around because sometimes the gates are opened a little before 6:30pm. It depends on if they get an "all clear" from the park officials. Since you won't be able to do S & S, I would recommend getting there around 5pm or so. This will allow you to get in the line outside the main gates near the front of the line and line gets LONG. The quicker you can get into the park the better.

in the past years, i have seen that line start at 4:30 at the gate.
those that don't have a day park ticket, do try to get in line early to the park for HHN.

it can be time consuming if you wait until 6:00 to get in that line as you have to go thru metal detectors to enter the park.

those already at the S & S area do not have any screeners to be in the park.

do what metro west suggested: be in that line by 5:00.

friday sometimes and usually saturdays, peeps line up very early in that line.

So, for all you HHN veterans:

If you have an early lunch around 4 or 430, then go to HHN till late, aren't you hungry again before bed? Are there any restaurants (in the park, at hotels or city walk) still open around midnight or is it all just counter service? We will be staying on site. Thanks.

The restaurants at city walk would be open, All the on site hotels have
24hr room service.

I actually eat lunch around 11 to noon-ish and don't eat again until I've got all the HHN houses done. Adrenaline keeps me going ;)

Eating after the event... I believe most of the CityWalk restaurants are open until 2 AM when HHN is going on. If you can't wait that long, nearly all the counter services are open during the event, and you can't throw a rock very far without hitting a food stand. You'll have no problem finding dinner.

op, check the hours of the city walk restaurants before you do hhn.
one year, on a non peak night, i went to hrc at 12:10 but they closed at midnight.

places in the park should stay open until 30 minutes prior to park closing.

Louie's is a good place to grab food during the night.

tricky1 is correct.
if staying onsite, they have 24 hour food service.
the only draw back is the prices.
i found them to be high compared to what i could have paid in the park or at city walk.

Thanks everyone! I hope some of the City Walk places are open till 2 (if we can stay up that late). Thanks Macraven, I'll check hours when we're there.

Any word on if you can get the express pass with the stay and scream tickets yet? I called a week ago and they were still not available. do not want to call again for nothing. TIA

Nothing yet...it should be in the next couple of weeks. No need to worry.

Looks like I got my birthday wish, Penn & Teller are coming to HHN 22 & I officially bought my UO ticket through Dreams a few minutes ago. I am planning on upgrading at the gate to the Power Pass & hopefully being able to take advantage of the cheaper HHN ticket price as well. I have been reading a lot of things stating it is a possibility they may show up in person to open the maze themselves(as they are off their show at the Rio that night & only need to be out until midnight when the event closes & take a red eye that night to get back to perform the next day) & it makes me very excited, even the opportunity to be able to see their dark comedy maze is good enough for me but a great birthday gift would be to finally meet them in person.

So my question remains, does the Power Pass entitle the holder to the HHN discount? I have heard both ways & wanted to know the truth. Plus if that's not the case, then can I utilize stay & scream to save money on the HHN ticket? TIA & I look forward to my first HHN on my birthday this year!

if you have a day ticket for the park, you can buy the discounted SnS ticket for hhn.

it is the same discount that ap holders can receive.

I finally read this thread from the beginning.:surfweb: But, I think I may still need some guidance. :confused3
We are at Universal onsite for a week Sept 17-24. We have a 4 day p-p pass and FFP for HHN.

So, we will do HHN on the 21 and 22. (Also have the express for both nights.) I am thinking for Friday we will go to the park in the afternoon and do S and S. Hoping to stay unitl 2am.

Then Sat we'll sleep in, and do the priority entrance at 6, and try to stay until 2 am.
I am hoping with this strategy we will be able to see almost everything.

Any suggestions, comments, advice woud be greatly appreciated.
Once again thanks to METROWEST and macraven for all their help. I wouldn't have got this far without you.:worship:

I just read an article that mentioned that Penn and teller were in universal earlier in the week to tour the construction site of their new house. I wonder if it's where the big crane is.. And if so I wonder how they're going to finish in time for hhn.

If there is a theme, it's hard to imagine what it could be with Penn & Teller coming too. I can't figure out any common thread between the houses. Unless it's just that they're all very cool. ;)

BOO......

sounds like a plan!

you should hit everything by starting early.
opening weekends are not as busy as the rest of the month.

check out the hours for opening weekend.
in the past, the event has closed at midnight.
i have to read to see if last year's followed that plan so don't go....oh no...at this point.

i'll try to find out if this is still valid or if it has changed.

I'll be there opening weekend too. I always take the day off to rest up for Friday night. The S & S holding area is where to find me.

Looking at last year's guides...

The dates that had hours of 6:30-12:00am were: 9/23, 9/24, 10/2, 10/19, 10/26, 10/30 and 10/31.
The dates that had hours of 6:30-2:00am were: 10/14, 10/15, 10/21, 10/22, 10/28 and 10/29.

I don't know what the hours are for this year yet as they haven't been released but I wouldn't be surprised if they followed last year's pattern.

.

Actually, midnight would not be so bad. :goodvibes
I think next year, DH and I will plan to go to Universal at the end of September. So, we can do at least 4 nights of HHN.:)

MIdnight is not so bad. Are you doing Saturday night as well?
Will the holding area be very crowded that weekend?

I might do Saturday night too...depends on if I had a good time Friday night. ;)

The holding area was pretty crowded last year so I expect more of the same this year.

Metro, i just read on a fb that schools in orlando are out on oct 4 and 5th.

do you know if that is a fact?

if it is, maybe that is why the express on that thursday is at $60.

Well, hopefully you will have a great time on Friday. so, you'll want to do it again on Saturday night.
Does it matter what time you get to the holding pen? I realize I need to be in the park before 4:30, just to be safe. When they open it up, soeas everyonee just ruch oward, orr is it a bit more orderley?

If you arrive at the holding area around 4:45 you should avoid waiting in line. Some nights the line can get long. They'll scan your ticket to make sure it's valid and that's it.

I don't see anything on the school calendars indicating they are out those days unless vacation days were added late.
