June, early as hhisc16 suggests, is better. The weather is warm by then but not usually quite as overpowering as July. While the island truly hits full tilt by 4 July, June can be a little better for crowds. There are always festivals going on in either month, and yes, the fireworks are each Tuesday, I believe, except as noted on the week of 4 July. While poor weather can happen anytime, March is more hit and miss in terms of beach days--could be warm and lovely or 60 and rainy or breezy. Ocean is still cold in March, too. My rank order based on your criteria:
1. Early June (first week or so)
2. Rest of June
3. July
4. March
That would be an interesting poll to see which month is the favorite to visiti dhhir amongst the owners/lovers.
We enjoy every month at dhhir, but each month does have advantages and disadvantages.
Best month to visit:
Trying to decide between June/July .
Any special things, festivals ,etc, happening at HHI or surrounding areas , during those months?
Concidering 2nd week of March also, for spring break. My concern is ,regarding the weather in order to enjoy the beach.
July seems to be the busiest month of the year at DHHIR. I am not sure of the statistics, but it seems to be close to 100% occupancy all month. I agree with the jellyffish!

We love going over Christmas break! December is the best for us. So much festive spirit...this year we all had free hot cocoa *in* the beachside pool. It was an experience!

Any month except June, July or August for us. We prefer things a little lower key...but not quite as low key as early November. We were the only car on the road there at 7 pm!
As others have said. Usually you can go in water but if very high risks , the lifeguards will let you know.
Vinegar or urine will help. I and several in family have been stung some, but not too bad and doesn't keep us out of water.
If anybody is traveling to DHHIR in August, September or November this year, can you post the monthly activity guide on this thread? I will repost to the first page/post #2.
Our next trip to DHHIR is October and December, so I can post those months on here. Heading to WDW in September.

Depending on what beaches you are used to HHI is different with the jellyfish. I am used to seeing them washing up on the beach when they are present but HHI is usually not like that. Two years ago in July we are stung multiple days in a row along with most others on the beach. We never actually saw a single jellyfish.
Definitely ask the lifeguards who are usually super helpful.
Possibly going for three nights over Christmas break. We’ve been here twice since the pandemic - both times in July so I’m quite intrigued to see Hilton Head in the winter.

I have a last minute question. So my family and I are driving down tomorrow and we were wondering if there is a refillable drink station at the beach house? We know there is one by the Big Dipper pool but we spend most of our time at the beach. If there isn't, we are not going to buy the refillable mugs and go buy soda at the Kroger nearby.
