We're at HHI right now. Has anyone ever tried to use an iPhone with the WiFi in the rooms? I've been trying with very little luck. I enter in the code and I get a little spinnerike it's trying to connect but it never does. Any suggestions?

Right now it's cool and overcast down here. Not exactly what we were hoping for. Plus we didn't get a good room location. I was hoping for a water view but we got a pine tree view. Oh well, luck of the draw I guess.

wouldnt you need wifi to post that? and wat is HHI sorry im new here. do all resorts have wifi?:confused3

HHI = Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort. It's a DVC Resort.

The only DVC properties with WiFi in the rooms are HHI and Vero Beach. All other Disney properties have wired high speed internet.

I'm not sure what the problem could be. Probably an iPhone problem. I am able to connect with AT&T's network but it is very slow.

On the other hand we ate at Dye's Gullah Fixins for lunch and it was delicious.

Unless they have wireless access points in each room (which is unusual), you may be on the fringes of coverage. Or the service offered exceeds demand. I've had that happen in public locations before--couldn't get on because there were too many other users.

Try picking up a signal in the lobby or some other public area. If you can do that, at least you know it's not the phone.

While it MAY be a weak signal, if the iPhone can see it, you should be able to get a connection, even though it may be slow.

Your problem is likely that you need to accept the terms and conditions on a web page. With a computer, that's easy to do. The iPhone has some trouble with that.

Try this:

1. Go to Settings > WiFi
2. Find the network you want to join. Tap its name to start joining (this is where you get the spinner).
3. Launch Safari.
4. Try to navigate to a web page other than the last one browsed. (I always use a web site that I know is usually "up" like Google or CNN.)
5. When the iPhone tries to find the page, the ISP should push the agreement page first.
6. Click the 'I agree' option or whatever it's called at HHI.

You may need to do this each time. The iPhone will remember the network, but the ISP usually requires an agreement once every so many hours.

BTW, the newest iPhone firmware makes this process a whole lot easier. With the newest version (at least on my 3GS), tapping the network name immediately produces the TOS agreement. You should be able to upgrade your firmware (through iTunes) to get that feature.

Good luck!

Thanks but I get that far. It is after clicking that I agree to TOS that it stalls out. Also I'm on latest firmware.

Is all of HHI wireless, or are there drops/ports in the rooms? I have a travel router I would rather hook up to the drop, then get my wireless thru my router.

Was there last week and found that the internet in general wasn't great. I had my laptop and found that I would drop the internet often.
