We are planing on going to WDW the week before Christamas 2008 and then go to either Hilton Head or Vero for the week of Christmas. Does anyone know which one would be better during that time frame and why? Thanks in advance.

We haven't been to Vero for the week before Christmas, but we have stayed at Hilton Head during this time and we absolutely loved it. The weather is cool, but there we some still in the pools. They keep the pool water at 84degrees. The main lodge was decorated with a beautiful tree. They served hot cider. They had a ginger bread house competition and had some really beautiful creations. There were even a lot of activities scheduled for the children. I would recommend going to Hilton Head just to relax. Whichever you choose, you can't go wrong.

We have done the opposite... :teeth:

A few years ago we were at VB when the Disney "elves" came out and decorated the entire resort overnight.... :santa:

The inn building had a HUGE Christmas tree with garland hung everywhere.. There was also a gingerbread/frosted Neverland scene off of the main lobby...

I agree with the previous poster though... I don't think you can go wrong with either... It just depends on what you are looking for... HHI will give you more of a down home lodge type feeling, whereas VB has a bit more of a tropical atmosphere..

If it matters to you, the weather in Vero is probably going to be considerably warmer/sunnier than HH.

I agree with Starbox. We love HH but would definately pick Vero for Christmas. Much more of a chance of beach/pool weather.

Because of what I think will be the better climate, I would pick VB.

We are going to HH this Christmas. We arrive on the 26th and leave New Year's Day. I have heard it is very beautiful. We are going for the R and R. My DH's family are all meeting us there. I agree with the others either one will be great. Have Fun:sunny:

We have been to HHI for 3 xmas weeks and the last two NYE's on our way back from WDW(we drive from Boston). We love it at this time. Weather has varied from 60's one year to high 30's another year(with gloves and jackets). But it averages on the mild side. DS did swim in the outdoor heated pool when it was 60's but we just enjoyed the sunshine. Lots of resort activites for kids and adults. Great restaurants and shopping. If you are looking for sunbathing and beach weather I guess VB is better choice. /we love walking that great HHI beach any time of year.

I'm going the first week of December (1-8) to HH as well. Does anybody know when they decorate for Christmas? It would be great if it were while we're there!

I would think that Savannah and Charleston would be beautiful at Christmas time. If you plan to do any sight-seeing, then I would consider HH....

HH decorates right after Thanksgiving.

The resort is wonderful! We stayed one January weekend there. It was cold and beautiful. Savannah is less than an hour drive and Charleston is just a little more.

As we live in Savannah, I recommend coming here first. :goodvibes

The thing about Hilton Head is that there is very little beach access, unless you go to the Resort provided beach house, about 1 mile from the resort. It's a great place, but, it's disconnected. All depends on how you feel about it. There are a number of fine dining places on the island, but, my favorite meal was the burgers I got at the grill there at the resort. One of the best I have ever had!.

The campfire and entertainment was also quite fun. I got to twirl like tinkerbell and go "tee-hee tee-hee" in the Peter Pan story. pirate:
