We will be visiting HH for the first time. What is the set up at the beach re: beach chairs, towels, umbrellas?

Do they have them there for free or rent? Can you bring your own?

Thanks,
Kiena

We just returned from HHI and let me tell you it was very very HOT! You can rent umbrellas, chairs, boogie boards and beach bikes from the life guards on the beach. The umbrella rental was $28 day to day. If you rented several days in a row the price dropped down to $17 per day. You can bring your own umbrellas and chairs as well and setup anywhere you want.

There are towels at the beach house, but I assume they don't want you to take them to the beach. We brought our own towels for the beach. We found we didn't use them because we set ourselves up at the beach house and just walked up there when we wanted to rest. The best part of the beach house is the air conditioned room. We have a 6 week old and with temperatures over 100 degrees with the heat index it was wonderful.

Have a great time.

FeeleyFans,

When you say you set up at the Beach House does that mean you can put your stuff in there and have a seat? I'd probably prefer that.

We may pack a few chairs and an umbrella just in case.

Thanks

Surfman's Station is the lounge area inside the Beach House. It is a comfy setting, with tables set up for games and some nice seating to read or have a quiet conversation. There is also a fireplace. It's not really set up to leave beach equipment all day, but I'm sure that would be possible if necessary.

As noted, you are welcome to bring your own chairs and umbrellas to the beach itself. All of the beaches at HH are public with lifeguard stations set up from about 8 until 5pm during the summer months. The lifeguards are responsible for setting up the umbrellas and chairs that are available for rent and they also have boogie boards, beach bikes, surf bikes and other recreational equipment available.

There are shower facitilies at the beach house to wash the sand off from the beach before entering the pool area. The pool has volleyball and basketball equipment set up for guests. There is a snack bar (Signals) and also a poolside bar to quench your thirst during the day.

Doc,

Thanks for the information and pictures! I'm looking forward to checking the place out.

We ended up staying mostly at the beach house and simply walking down to the beach when we wanted to get in the ocean. It was so HOT when we were there that we had no interest in sitting on the beach. When we went to the beach we got in the ocean! I thought the kids might want to play in the sand, but they were more interested in swimming in the ocean and pool.

Due to the expense of the chairs and umbrellas, I'd suggest either bringing your own (which could mean way too much stuff in your vehicle or if you're flying) or buying inexpensive ones at HH, then donating them to Goodwill before you leave. We (including DW and DD5) opted for the cheapest route--we simply sat on towels, used liberal amounts of sunscreen, and didn't stay out all day. We had brought towels, but we routinely used the Beach House towels with their blessing--at least no one said anything, and they saw us take them out every day. In fact, there is a towel collection bin right as you walk in the gate coming from the beach.

The lounge and the grill make great places to escape the heat. There are also numerous tables w/chairs outside near the pool, yet covered so you can sit in the shade. It was a very relaxing place, all in all, and that includes the resort proper. Enjoy! :paw:

We're driving so we may pack some small beach chairs and bring towels. I'm hoping the kids won't want to hang out at the beach too long. I'm a pool kind of girl.
