I found a good deal on a 3BR villa for Sept I am considering, and wondering if it will be good for 2 small kids (especially dd4). Do they have activities for her age? Is the pool fun? What else is there that is nice for families? I am really having a hard time deciding between this deal and using our DVC points...but we could invite our family with us on this trip for the same real cost as DVC in a 1BR...convince me!!! :sunny:

I'm not a DVC member, but I did stay at HGVC SW 2 weeks ago. They have 5 pools, 1 for adults only, 2 traditional pools, and 2 kids pools and 5 hot-tubs spread around the pool areas. The waterfall pool is not heated, but very nice. The fountain pool is heated. There are activities every day of the week. They supply a monthly calendar for you at check-in, and they post it outside the activity center.

There were alot of activities geared towards younger children and teens. We didn't really do any of those since my son is 14 and he mostly wanted to swim in his free time there. They do arts and crafts, ice cream social, pool games, small indoor arcade, tie-dyed t shirt making, karaoke by the pool, outdoor bands, volleyball net in the pool, etc. I wish I had kept the calendar to give you a better idea but I just checked and no longer have it. Two nights a week (Wednesdays and Saturdays when we were there) they have a dive-in movie out by the pool, they inflate a big screen and show a movie on it. They also have an indoor movie theater, on-site Pizza Hut Express.

Also onsite were a tennis court, walking/jogging trail, 2 playgrounds that I saw, shuffleboard court. There is plenty to do there, if that is what you are looking for. We spent most of our 10 days there at the parks, so all we really had time for was to swim in the evenings. I have pictures that I am eventually going to post somewhere, plus a resort map. If I think of anything else or if you have any questions, please feel free to email, post here or pm me. :)

Wow! looks nice...I just exchanged for a 3 bedroom for Nov 2006. Thanks!

Please share how you got the good deal as I would be very interested in staying at HGVC

Thanks in advance

I paid $650 from an owner on eBay. But, before I bought that, we posted an ad on TUG and I got many, many offers for around $600 for 2BRs at Marriotts and HGVC -- great options for 7 nights!
