Last night, I started a thread questioning where the old DISers have gone too, I wasn't sure because I had been gone from the DIS for 2 yrs.

I got off the DIS last night before anyone responded to it. And this morning I see a PM from another DISer telling me if may get removed from the board.

What happened??? :confused3 I certainly wasn't trying to start anything!!
That's totally not me!! I was just missing some of my old DIS friends!! :( Good people, not trouble makers.

Dear Mods,
I think if you're going to delete someone's thread, please be curtious enough to PM them to let them know what is happening. Especially since I wasn't on line when it happened. You were thoughtfull enough to take the time to delete my picture in my signature last night and put a note in it letting me know it was too large and even gave me a link as to why.

AND fellow Disers reading this...........PLEASE do not put in your comments about what did happen to old DISers, as I do not want another thread removed.

Again, please no asking where people went to.

I just want to know if my thread was hijacked by upset DISers and why were aren't notified when a thread has been removed.

Thanks.

I have not been gone for two years, but I have been wondering the same thing recently.

It seems like a LOT of the regular posters have kind of dropped out lately????

I am glad to see that I am not the only one noticing this!

PS: I never saw that original thread. Have I heard of other people posting new threads, and for some reason they do not go thru the first time???

The moderators have repeatedly asked that folks who have questions about their moderating decisions direct those questions via email, not via message board threads. Please read the FAQ for their full statement, but here's the email address for you:

If you have questions or issues regarding this, please feel free to direct them to the webmaster at webmaster@wdwinfo.com

As I have avoided controversial threads, I had never seen the above stated. I do thank you for the email address.

Actually, this is not something generally posted in threads. Rather, it is part of the DISboards.com Guidelines, the standards for participating in this community. If you haven't read it, this would be a good time to do so. It is presumed, I believe, that all members of our community will read, understand, and comply with these guidelines:

I did read them many years ago, but must have forgotten. But I appreciate you pointing it out to me again.

I do not think they do that anymore, Bunchkin. I think they just delete, close, move at will, no notice sent to the OP as to why, so as to learn from mistakes. Seems counter-productive, but that does seem to be the way they operate now.

I read it last night. I'm not really an old timer but I was being nosy. I don't recall any responses...maybe I read it right after you posted. :confused3

The DISboards has a great number of posters. In the natural course of things, many will post here for a while and then move on.

Some leave because they are no longer welcomed here because of behavior on these boards. Others may have posted here while planning a trip and then drifted away later. Still others may find that they do not like our posting guidelines and rules to keep posts clean and respectful and move on to other communities with other standards.

Starting "whatever happened to...." threads invariably degenerates into talk about posters who are no longer welcome or who left under unpleasant circumstances, and then into debates and insults regarding those circumstances. That was the case with the thread in question. This adds nothing useful to the boards and merely stirs up pointless controversy and ill will (just as some posts on this very thread seem to be attempting to do.)

If you want to know "whatever happened to..." a poster, PM or email that poster and ask. If you have a question about a moderating decision, address it to a moderator or to the webmasters at admin@wdwinfo.com. While we will not debate moderating decisions on the boards, we will be happy to address any posters' questions or concerns privately.
