Did you hear? They're coming out with another expansion pack. This is reported to be the VERY LAST EP for the original Sims. It's called Makin Magic . It looks great. They have a new town and it looks kind of like a carnival. It has magic shows, popcorn, and even RIDES! You'll be able to make your Sim a magician...I see a David Copperfield sim in my future. Anyway, you can preorder it now at Amazon.com. It's estimated release date is October 15 (two days after my b-day :) )

Woohoo, that game is addicting!

Have you played sims online or the sims for gamecube???

I still like the original the best!

This sounds fun! Do you have Superstar? I've been hesitant to buy it until I heard something because I wasn't that impressed with Vacation or the one with pets. I love the Sims game for the Playstation though.

I just recently got Superstar! I really like it. I held off on buying it for so long because it didn't seem very appealing at first. Then I saw some screenshots and stuff and saw some pretty neat stuff. The things I really liked were the skydiving box and the scuba tank where you can go scuba diving. It's really cool :)

I've also played the Sims for PS2. That's a lot of fun too. The only thing I don't like about that one though is that you can't download any new stuff or anything...you're just stuck with what you've got.

i finally broke down and bought superstar about a month ago. it was on sale at best buy for $19.99 and DH gave in!! :) i like it, but my computer was running so slow so i decided to remove vacation, since i didn't use it. well, for some reason now, it won't recognize my hot date cd. i've tried to get help from the tech people on the sims website, but they've forgotten about me! i was able to install the deluxe version, unleashed, and superstar. i just can't have hot date for some reason! :(

i have been so busy lately that i really haven't had much time to play with superstar...i need to get into it though!!

I lost interest in the Sims when my kids "loaned" the original CD to someone and it never returned. Since I replaced my hard drive, I can't run the program on my PC anymore. And the CD hasn't been returned. And the kids cannot seem to remember who they loaned it to. I didn't buy "Superstar" for them since they seem to have cooled on the Sims game.

I wonder if I'll be able to resist that one!!
"My name is Yvonne, and I'm a SIMSaholic".....:teeth:
I started out with SIMS deluxe, then added Unleashed, then Hot Date and now I just bought Vacation. I love all of them!! I was so excited to see log furniture available, and log siding for the house!! I don't think I'll get Superstar, it just doesn't appeal that much to me for some reason. I can sit and play for hours tho!!

Anyone else have trouble loading multiple expansion packs? I gave my niece Vacation & Superstar for her birthday. She wasn't able to load either without dleteing unleashed????? Is there something we are misisng?

YAY! Thanks for the heads up... I am completely addicted to that game. I have all but Sims Online.

mom2boys - try EA's website to see if there is a patch you need to download... I didn't have any problems but you may have a different operating system.

OOh that sounds so exciting! My boys and I love the sims....only problem is, our computer runs so slow the more expansion packs we add! We want Superstar, but our computer runs so slow now we can barely play it--seems like we spend most of our time sitting and waiting! Is there something we need to do to get it to speed up? I hate to miss out on these EPs! We have Windows 98, if that means anything to anyone who can help? Do I need a newer computer?

Try adding more RAM to your computer. Another thing that might help would be to remove any EPs that you don't really use. Like I don't really use Hot Date or Unleashed anymore so I just have Livin' Large, House Party and Super Star. And probably by the time Makin' Magic comes out I'll be done with Superstar and take that off and replace it with Makin' Magic.

You also have to install the expansion packs in specific order....Not sure whats in Deluxe, but here is the proper order of install...

Sims
Sims Livin Large
Sims House Party
Sims Hot Date
Sims Vacation
Sims Unleashed
Sims Superstar

If I recall, SIMS Deluxe includes Livin Large.

Thanks Dax. I forwarded your post to my niece. (She's 500 miles away.)

OK....I've got the Makin' Magic pack. Who else?

The spells are really neat. I've loved trying the 'Enchant' spell on household items. I cast it on the fridge and it burst into flames! It worked once. The fridge would start flapping its doors.

I've also noticed a new outcome for dying. Maybe this isn't new to this pack. When someone dies and another Sim pleads with Death, the dead Sim could be turned into a Zombie. Pets, too! I had a zombie dalmatian running around. To revive the Sim, it must go to meet the Fortune Teller in Old Town. You can pay to be revived. Just something new I'd never seen.

Another item to enchant are garden gnomes that you make with the workbench. Once enchanted they water your plants. In my game, they headed straight for the Nectar-pressing barrel and crawled in and got smashed. They crawl out and start wobbling all over and moaning. It's hilarious when you have 5 doing this. Little drunk gnomes in the yard. I haven't enchanted anything else.

If you get the Bee Hive to harvest your honey, beware of the bear! LOL! He tip-toed onto the lot and tried getting honey. The bees attacked him. It was a riot!

There's also the 'Friend Indeed' spell. You can turn your pets into human Sims. It's permanent and interesting.

I also like the new oven and the ability to make cakes and other dishes. More variety than that plate of brown stuff that Sims normally prepare. Yuck!

One of my favorite features is the Hole in the Ground. To go to Magic Town, you just jump in. No cab. No waiting. If you want the whole family to go, you have to call though.

So how about y'all? What have you found and enjoyed? What else can be enchanted?

Should I give a Magic Wand to Sim Dan? :teeth:

I'm really liking this pack...:D

I've already all the spells and charms in my spell book. The only thing I don't like is the instant fame charm. You already have to be semi-famous in order to make the charm because you need black roses from an obsessed fan.

I think my favorite feature is playing the games with the vendors to get rare ingredients. :)

True. The Fame spell seems pointless.

As for challenging the vendors, how do you win the Toadstool race. Todd RUNS and you can't. That's my least favorite game. I finally got the hang of the magic duel. I need to try a child magician and see the Jr. spells. Anybody got a Harry Potter skin...:D

I can beat them all but the fairy in the toadstool race. All you have to do is pause the game and click on all the toadstools to turn them blue.

I haven't played with any kid sims yet so I don't know what the kid spells are. I did, however, turn my dog into human :)

Yup, have seen that in the shops & at it's on specal at one place too..........only prob is we can't get our Sims to load properly right now:(

To beat Todd and the Fairy in the Toadstool race, you need to grow the purple crystal and learn to Teleport. Then with a wave of the magic wand you can go from place to place.

I would like to know if anyone has been able to climb any of their beanstalks yet?
In terms of children, I do have one magical child sim and my favorite spell is the clone charm - the clone will go to school for them. The invisible friend charm is pretty cool too.

I knew I couldn't resist...I bought Makin' Magic a few days ago and am having so much fun playing it!! :wizard: I love all the neat new stuff to buy, and I'm working on the spells and charms. What did you think of the Sims 2 preview CD that's included? It looks like they've really made a lot of nice improvements!!! :teeth:
