Other than this rare occurence, the Disney STore is the closest thing I have to a Disney expreience nearby. Unfortunately, I have to drive to either New Orleans or Baton Rouge to do it.

Alright! Stacey and I have convinced Bryan and SOnny into some additional plans. We have been working on them for a week, and they finally gave in tonight. Bryan and SOnny want to play golf while we are in the World. However, we were having a difficult time fitting it in to my plans. (Remember how Bryan just tells me to do what I want when it comes to WDW plans...) Stacey and I suggested that they get an early tee time on Friday morning. They kept balking at that suggestion because they just wanted to drive straight home and get back by dinner.

She and I finally talked them into it tonight. The new plan?

Bryan and Sonny will have a tee time at The Magnolia or Palm on Friday morning. STacey and I will bring the boys and her girls to the MK for one last morning. We'll eat lunch, head out, and spend the night in Mobile. Now, this is what convinced them. Bryan has said everytime we pass through Mobile that we need to bring the boys to see the battleship. We will spend the night in Mobile, visit the battleships on Saturday, and head back home that afternoon.

The boys are going to love it!

Sounds like a good plan Megan! What a great way to end the trip-although I find it really sad to say goodbye to MK. :sad1: A trip to see the battleships seems like a perfect way to break up the drive on the way home.

What a great idea! We have been saying that as well.. one of these road trips back to Disney we will have to do the same.. make sure you take plenty of pics!!!

That sounds great Megan! We're stopping at Ashburn, GA on the way home. It's home of the world's largest peanut...now that's excitement! :lmao:

More about the exhibit from the NOMA website...

The New Orleans Museum of Art will present Dreams Come True: Art of the Classic Fairy Tales from the Walt Disney Studio, a major exhibition featuring more than 600 original artworks that shaped legendary animated features including Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast.

Visitors to the exhibition will encounter themed rooms showcasing artwork related to specific animated features. Arranged chronologically by year of release, the rooms will feature, in order: Silly Symphonies, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and The Princess and the Frog. Film clips will accompany the artwork to demonstrate how individual sketches and paintings lead to a finished celluloid masterpiece. An adjacent Education Area will highlight Disney's long association with music and also will serve as a mini library for animation research and storytelling programs.

Oh wow, that sounds great!

Sounds like a good plan! That is so funny about the battleship; everytime we pass since Dayne was about 8 now Danny says I would really like to go there one day...10 years later that day has still not come :rolleyes1: maybe by the time Ashton is 10 he will make it a point to stop ...our neighbors have been and from what I have heard and seen of their pics the boys will really enjoy it.

I went to the battleship probably 3 times when I was younger and enjoyed it each time. I keep telling Randy we need to stop and let the boys see it.

The last time I went I was about 12. The other family that always went on vacation with us were an older couple who usually brought their grandkids, who were me and my siblings age. They were my "local grandparents" seeing as all my grandparents lived in Texas, and all their grandkids live away also. Well, Pa served in WWII, and we had our own personal guide on that battleship. IT WAS AWESOME!! He explained everything on that ship and how things were used in battle. How it felt for a 16yr to go to war, he lied about his age to enlist---how it felt for a boy from West Texas who never been on a boat before, suddenly was on one bigger than his small hometown. Before we knew it, we had a line of people following us thru the ship listening to Pa's stories. It was amazing having people thanking him for his service in WWII but also for the service he provided that day. It is a very special and treasured memory for me and I mention to my kids everytime we go thru Mobile.
It's sad that Pa's no longer with us to take my boys on his special tour. But the battleship is a part of our history and I think we should all make time to see it. I know Sam and Coop will enjoy it.

Also, why don't men just give in at the start? They know they'll be doing what we want anyway, just get it over with.:rotfl:

I'm actually really excited about it. It's one of those things you always say you are going to do but never get around to doing it. I hate saying good-bye to the MK as well. At least I know it's not permanent, more like a see you later kind of thing.;)

We certainly will take the pics. We're goign to have have our trip movie nights on separate occasions. We plan on making a DVD of this trip as well.

Hey! I can't say the same thing about Bryan anymore. He's finally delivering on the goods this time. It was one of thisngs I just figured we would never get around to. I'm glad to hear your neighbors enjoyed it. Any chance suggesting it to Danny this time?

I would just like to point out that I talked Bryan into splitting up the trip on both ends. This marks the first time we didn't just drive straight through.

I don't think any of us ever think about stopping in Mobile until we actually pass over the bay, see the ship, and say we need to stop there one day.

What a wonderful story there! It would have been cool to have someone like that around to give you firsthand information.

I don't know why they don't listen to us. It's the same routing every single time. We suggest it. They balk at the idea. Then, they come around and think it's a great idea. The problem was Bryan likes going to all of the parks. He doesn't want to skip any of them. Plus, he doesn't want to golf in the heat of the afternoon. The only available time for him was on Friday morning. I have been suggesting this time to him since Sonny & Stacey said they were coming with us. STacey and I just started working it at dinner last Friday. SHe convinced Sonny separately to break up the ride back first. At dinner last night, we just laid it all out on the table. When she mentioned battleship in Mobile, Bryan immediately agreed.

So, where I left off, we had just watched the rope drop ceremony. The rope dropped and we were off! The plan? FP Splash and ride BTMRR…Bryan and Randy had plans off walking ahead of the group, so they had FPs when we got there. Sam and Zach stayed close by.

However, Disney had other plans for us. BTMRR was down right away. We got FPs for Splash and went along with our plan – Buzz. We headed our way from Frontierland to Tomorrowland. Once we got to Buzz…there was no one there. We walked right on. As always, Cooper rode with me. Bryan still cannot beat me. He doesn’t know about the big targets. He insists I am cheating. His problem…

When we exited, Buzz was coming out for his meet & greet, so I brought Cooper to do that while Sam, Alisa, Zach, Chase, and Bubba rode the elevator to Astro Orbiter.

We all sat and had a quick snack at the Lunching Pad. At this point, it’s getting close to opening for Tootown. Cooper was finally tall enough for the Barnstormer. We had Splash FPs for about 10:30. Sam wanted to stay with Zach, so we agreed to let Sam stay with the Boquets. We separated with plans of meeting back at Splash for about 10:30.

Next, how did Cooper like the Barnstormer? Will Sammy actually get on Splash?

So, I may have spoken a bit to soon about stopping in Mobile. Madeline is pretty certain she is going to have to work on Saturday. She does say they may not schedule her till Sunday. SHe just doesn't know. So, if she has off the Saturday when she gets her schedule, we'll stop in Mobile. If she has to work, we'll still bein the parks in the morning while the guys golf, but we'll be driving straight home afterwards. That should put us getting home around 11-midnight.

If we don't get to stop in Mobile, I told Bryan I want us to head back and do othe battleship sometime this summer.
