Hey! Let's take a picture in front of the castle...all 28 of us!! UPDATES 10/26

WOW! My son would die playing with that pirate ship in the pool pirate:

Great Epcot pics! The topiaries are so beautiful! I just dont know how they do that!

I really enjoyed reading the wrap up on your weekend at WDW. Your Epcot pictures are really great. Poor Miren. I hope she felt better after that car ride home. Your girls were sooooooo cute in all the pictures. Looks like you had a fab long weekend.

Congrats on your summer trip. What a nice long trip and the time share looks really nice. I am sure you will have a blast.

Thanks!! :goodvibes

This was probably the first trip ever she was glad to be home from. :guilty:

We were spoiled last summer by having the timeshare for two weeks. Unless there's some trip way back in my childhood I'm not remembering correctly, we've always done mostly long weekends and a week in the summer, on occasion maybe another week in the year, but that's the first time I was ever there for two consecutive weeks and I really enjoyed it! That's why I keep adding days to this summer's vacation :rolleyes1

Woo-hoo on the summer trip plans!!!:banana: That's fabulous! The timeshare looks gorgeous and I'm glad you get to take the girls back to Pop! We have never stayed there but it sure does look like a fun spot!!:goodvibes

I'm so glad you liked the Grey Goose Slushie! That picture made my mouth water! :thumbsup2

I'm going to try to stop at TC on my trip with my Mom next month! It looks beautiful and I hear such good things about the food!! I think it'll be perfect for a mother/daughter trip! And I love the Morocco pavillion!! So pretty!

I'm so sorry about the getting sick at Olive garden, but like you said....better than in the car! Sounds like a doozy of a trip home, but a great trip nonetheless!

Now....on with 'ohana!!! :cloud9:

Sara

 I thought of you when Miren took the picture of the Grey Goose Slushie!

You should definitely stop at TC with your mom! Even if you don't eat there you could have a snack (can't say enough about the baklava, that is, if you like baklava, of course), and it really is so pretty!

Your girls are just adorable!
I enjoyed your pictures and no didn't see us in any but that grey goose looked yum!
I have a pair of those fit flops in brown and black!
Don't you love them?
The Key West "home" looks fabulous!

Thanks Anita! :welcome:

I love my fit flops! I have a pair of generic ones in black, too.

But, my Disney fit flops...:cloud9:

The pictures of the timeshare are from Marriott's Harbour Lake in Orlando (even though it does have a Key West feel to it, now that you mention it  and our "home" resort is down in the Keys but we'll be staying at this one in Orlando this summer, again :))

I am finally caught up. I love the mini-TR. It looks like you had a great time, other than the sickness at the end. What a bummer that they both got sick.

The flip flops are cute. Are those fit-flops? I have a pair in black & I really like them. The timeshare looks nice too. It looks like it is newer....not like the places with the horrible 70's bedspreads.

It's nice to see a large family be able to travel together & still like each other at the end of the trips. That is a really special thing!

Yes, they are fit flops!! They are ALL I wear! I couldn't believe it when I spotted these in December - knew I had to have them! I have a heel spur in my right foot and it's painful when I wear other sandals or flats...when I slip into my fit flops - instant relief!! In South Fl we wear flip flops almost all year round (except for this winter which was the coldest EVER here! - and even then you'd be surprised the people that you'd see in coats and flip-flops! :confused3 :rotfl:)

I think it's really special, too...when you have large families (and Ramon and I both do) then you have more choices of who to pick from to travel with...if those who chose to travel together can all get on the same page...then it's all good at the end of the trip. ;) Did you catch how politically correct I was being there? :rotfl2:

I am sure of it!

Yay for another Pop trip! :dance3:

 :woohoo: :dance3:

Miren is sooooo excited about it, it's all she talks about everyday - I've never done a countdown calendar before but I think I may for this trip! :)

Your next Pop trip is just around the corner!!! :cool1:

The pirate ship and pool area are the best! The girls had so much fun last year; Nerea will enjoy it more this year! Can't wait!

Is Aiden a little pirate boy? Have you guys been to Caribbean Beach Club? We haven't been since the remodel but I hear the pirate theming is pretty neat. :)

Okay! Getting back on track with the December trip now. :thumbsup2

So we arrived back at POR after a wet and cold birthday day at DHS. Our 'Ohana dinner reservation was for 8:20. After briefly talking with my cousins, we decided we would all drive and just head over as we were ready. Now, the question still remained...would my aunts and uncles make it on time. Well, we actually had two reservations for 'Ohana: 8:20 for 22, and then 8:50 for 6. This was because, when we made our ADR's, one of my cousins and her family were originally not going to be arriving until later that night, but as we got closer to the trip that changed, so I made them an ADR as close to our time as possible. Well, they were already there, and even though this now made us a party of 24 for the 8:20, we hoped it wouldn't be a problem, and then the aunts and uncles would take the 8:50 ressie. Simple enough, right? We weren't the first ones to arrive at the Poly, but the ones who were already there had checked us in and explained the situation. Not a problem they said because the table they had set up was long and we were using some highchairs anyway so we could squeeze in, if needed. Yay!!!!! I was soooooo excited we were going to be sitting together! :yay: When I had made the ADR's I had been told that could not be guaranteed, understandable. Yay!!!!!! We were going to be sitting together! :dance3: Especially for this meal, I wanted to be all together since it was Miren's birthday dinner. While we were still waiting to be seated, one of my cousins said they had spoken with the aunts and uncles and they had just checked-in at POR and would be heading directly over to the Poly. We were seated a little after 8:30 and as we were still settling into our seats, the aunts and uncles arrived. Well, we really were seated at a very long table, I quickly realized we could ALL fit! I went to the CM at check-in (who also happened to be from South Florida) and explained the situation - not a problem! :woohoo: We all sat and immediately the kids got right back up to go dance!

IMG_5125.jpg

When it was time for Wishes, they dimmed the lights and piped in the music - the kids ran to the windows for front row seats, the view was excellent!

We ate, and ate, and ate some more...and then it was time for birthday cake! :bday:

IMG_5155.jpg

That cake was sooooo delicious! They have bigger cakes you can order ahead of time, but that was just the one you can ask for upon check-in at the restaurant. I had decided not to order a bigger one because 'Ohana already has the most delicious dessert included with the meal. Of course, we were already so full from all that food, we barely made a dent in the cake; we took the rest back to our fridge at POR. 'Ohana is my most favorite dinner at WDW!

Our server was a little slow in bringing out the checks and it was well past 10:30 by the time we made it out of there. The Poly was pretty deserted by then and we just walked around for a little bit before heading back to our resort.

On our schedule for tomorrow was our first full day together: Animal Kingdom! Uh-oh, the forecast for tomorrow was: 80% chance of rain. :scared1:

Great update! Your dinner at Ohana looks like a blast! That is one huge table! So great that you were all able to sit together! Miren looks so pleased to be the birthday girl. What an awesome birthday celebration she will always remember. :thumbsup2 I love those chicken wings!!!!!!!

Ooooohh, I want to eat at Ohana so bad! We cancelled our ADR last time because it was the end of the trip & I was the only one that was pushin to go. Next time for sure! It looks like it was a wonderful birthday dinner for her.

Glad the birthday meal worked out for everyone to sit together. You are so right, that 'Ohana has the most delicious dessert anyway. I love that bread pudding! :)

SO lucky you got to all sit together!!! That made your DD's birthday so special I am sure. We just love O'hana  Great update, can't wait to read more! popcorn::

Thanks, Mary Ellen! We had a great time! Your trip is two days away!!! :woohoo: Have a great time and safe travels! Can't wait to hear all about it!

Do you know when "next time" is going to be yet? You should definitely do 'Ohana next time!

I'm not a huge bread pudding fan, but most bread puddings at WDW are yummy...'Ohana's is deeeeelicious!!!

Such a sweet expression on her face. :cutie:

Nooooo!

Although after a late night, some relaxing time and extra sleep may not be so bad. :thumbsup2

One of my cousin's was teasing her from across the table.

Hmmmm, sounds like you may know what's coming up, MeMom. :ssst:

We really were very lucky! The restaurant was not full at all that night so maybe that's why. I was very grateful! :cloud9:

Thanks! Would you believe we got P&F the day we were leaving on our spring break trip and I haven't seen it yet?? The girls saw it on the plane and several other times in spurts throughout the trip, but I want to just sit and watch it through in its entirety the first time - then I know I'll catch pieces of it here and there as they watch it over and over again! :rotfl: Come to think of it...I should have done that yesterday while I was in bed with another stomach flu!! ugh! for some reason...I watched Bonanza on TVLand! :rotfl2:

Did you get to watch P & F yet? I LOVE it, but I'm partial to seeing my area represented as a Disney cartoon! I just think its a beautiful story with beautiful scenery and music.

I'm all caught up with your updates again and enjoying them! The birthday dinner looks like it was great! So glad for you guys!

Sorry your little one got sick on the way home, but glad it "all" didn't come out in the car!!! :scared1:

Can't wait to hear about AK!

Hey Melanie! I saw your photopass pics on your TR but the thread was already closed. They were great! :)

Well, I have not yet seen P&F :o but I think tomorrow might be the night. :thumbsup2 We are counting down 45 days for our summer trip so we will be Disney'n quite a bit around here for the next few weeks (well, more than usual ;))

Well, I DID finally get to see Princess and the Frog last night! I loved it!! :thumbsup2 I was a little disappointed, though, that her beautiful green dress only makes a short appearance when they are turned back into humans. I think that is one of the most beautiful princess dresses ever!!

We are counting down to our June trip and are now at 43 days!!!!!! I had thought about doing a countdown calendar for the girls starting at 45 days but I wanted to make it with the paint samples of Mickey ears and haven't gotten around to Home Depot. So, I think I'll do it starting at 30 days. Also, we are counting down school days: 22 left to go!

Okay, so if I want to finish this TR before we head out on our next vacation, I should get a move on...don't ya think? ;)

****************************

Well, we had all been watching the weather for this day for a week because it was the only "threat" for bad weather. This was our first full day together all 28 of us and the plan was to go to Animal Kingdom, then we had an ADR at WCC at WL for 5:20pm, and a surprise for the kids after dinner. Originally we thought we would take the bus and had planned to be at the bus stop at 8:30am. We didn't necessarily want to make RD we just wanted to be there around the time it opened. However, the night before we all agreed we'd just drive so we planned to instead drive out at 8:30am. We all watched the weather before going to bed and texted back and forth about what we thought.

I woke up early on Friday and turned the TV on to watch the weather...it did not look good. Funny thing, my cousin and her family were in the connecting room next to ours and I could hear they were watching the weather, too. I could even hear her DH's commentary about what he was seeing "80% chance of rain for the entire state of Florida, hm! and severe weather warnings! hm!" The walls were a little thin, maybe? :rotfl: So, at 7:53 I received a text from one of my cousins' DW's saying "according to weather.com, rain will start at 8am and last throughout afternoon." :scared1: So I reply, what should we do? She replies, "sleep for now, then meet at breakfast (in food court) @ 9:45 to discuss the day". Well, the interesting thing here was that it wasn't raining out. It was barely overcast. Could this prediction be so wrong???

Now, I have to say the only reason why we were so worried about the weather was because only my family and one other had AP's, the rest of the group had bought 3 day FL resident passes. Some were going to use all 3 days on this trip, others were only going to use 2 and come back to use the last day on a later trip. So, the point was that they didn't want to "waste" a day if it was going to be a wash-out. I get a text from another cousin "80% chance and thunderstorms....did it rain overnight?" um, no. So, we meet in the food court, have breakfast, and then...just sit there! Is it raining? No. Is it going to rain? :confused3 It's 11am and we are still sitting there! Now, I have to say, my family just loves being together, so we have no problem just sitting and talking and laughing for hours. However, we can do that at home, we came here to "do" stuff....but it was obvious: we had fallen apart. :lmao: It was 12 noon, still sitting there. In all of our planning we had not planned for one thing: RAIN! Or, up to now, the threat of rain. Not a drop had fallen from the sky but it was more overcast now. Of course, we're sitting there at this point saying "we could have been in the park all this time!" I'm sorry I have no pictures but I didn't take any in all this time. I remember looking at the kids just playing together and having fun and thinking it would be a good time to take a picture, but I guess I didn't. The kids are much like their parents and grandparents: we have a good time just being together.

Well, after MUCH debate, (by nature, we're not the most decisive bunch) we decided to split up for the afternoon and meet back at WCC for dinner. The two families that have AP's decided to go to AK anyway, even for just a couple of hours. The rest decided to go to DTD via the boat from POR. It was around 1pm now...and still...not a drop of rain. :headache: However, we had decided to instead then ALL do Epcot on Sunday, which was not part of the original plan, as the ones who would be heading home that day had not planned on doing a park that day.

Before leaving we sat in the lobby for a little bit and I finally started taking some pictures.

We arrived at AK at about 2pm. It was a little cloudy.

We saw these guys at the entrance being silly.

IMG_5169.jpg

We walked into the park and it was EMPTY! I guess the "rain" had kept others away too? We headed straight for the safari and it took us maybe a total of five minutes to walk through the line and get on our vehicle.

We decided to head towards Expedition Everest, but first decided to grab a snack along the way. I believe we had hot dogs and corn dogs from a cart. We found a little area to sit and eat that was out of the way and across from the Tree of Life, separated by water.

Nerea was still asleep

Still, not a drop a rain....

We walked to EE and Ramon and I were the only ones who were going to ride it so the girls would stay with my cousin. I was excited because it was the first time we were getting to ride it together!

IMG_5225.jpg

IMG_5227.jpg

Notice that there is a somewhat dark cloud above EE? As Ramon and I are walking away to get in line...it starts sprinkling! Well, we walked back to help my cousin get the raincoats on the girls and we told them to wait in the shop if they wanted, there was no line, we'd be out soon. Well, we get on the ride, again in about a total of five minutes, and while we are waiting for the ride to start, the rain sprinkles start turning into drops and we hear an announcement saying if it rains harder they will have to stop the ride. I tell Ramon, I hope we don't have to get off, we're all ready to go! Did they stop the ride? Nope! Off we went!! I LOVE EE!!!!!! It was raining but not hard and we had a great time! When we got off the ride we went looking for the others and found them near the entrance of the ride....still wearing raincoats...but it wasn't raining anymore!!!!!!! That was it you guys!! That was 80%! Thunderstorms! Severe weather! :headache:

We walked by Dinoland and Miren wanted to do TriceraTop Spin. I obliged and rode with her. We had to dry off the seat a little bit, no biggie. It was about 4pm now and we had WCC at 5:20 so we headed to POR to shower and change into dry and warmer clothes. It hadn't rained much, but it HAD brought a drop in temps.

As we were getting ready I realized that the little bit of rain had been enough to wet the floor and, in effect, the bottom of our jeans so we'd have to wear our other ones that I had left hanging to dry from having gotten wet the day before at DHS (we had each only brought two pairs). Would I have to be doing laundry later tonight?? No time to worry about that now - WL awaits!!

*******************************

Hope everyone has a wonderful Mother's Day!!!!!! :grouphug:

Great update! Grrr, that is so annoying about the rain (or lack of it!). It's frustrating when it totally changes your plans. But the great thing is that AK was totally empty & you had walk-ons to all of the big rides! You were able to do a lot in a short amount of time.

Your explaination of your family hanging out made me smile, because it sounds like both my family & my husbands. We love to just hang out and we can lose hours of time over a meal. This last Thanksgiving, we had our big meal at 1:00 and we were still sitting at the table at 7:30 that night! So I had to laugh when you said you had breakfast at 9:45 and finally left at 1:00. It sounds familiar!

Enjoyed your update on your AK day. So glad you and DH got to ride EE together and that the rain (or most of it) held off for the day!

YAY no rain :woohoo: I am so happy you got to explore AK for the day and you did not let the weather man stop you  Kids are adorable as usual...can't WAIT to hear about the WL

Hey Alison! :woohoo: New ticker!!!!:cool1::banana:

AK was sooo totally empty - we were just there for 2 hours and got all that done; weren't running at all either, just strolling along.

It's nice when you don't even notice the hours go by and you're in good company, isn't it? Ramon's family is the same way, too. :goodvibes

The actual rain was such a non-issue...the "threat" of rain, well, it completely changed our plans! Or rather we LET it change our plans. It actually rained a LOT more the day before on our DHS day, when it had only been forecast 20-30% chance of rain. Oh, well! :upsidedow

I was so happy we finally got to ride EE together! Even though we often go on trips with other people, for some reason we usually go to AK just the four of us, so we've only done EE solo by using the single-rider line. It's always fun, but so much more when you ride with someone! I was a little bummed out though for one of my cousins' DW's because she's never been on it and we were excited about riding it, but because of the change in plans they didn't make it to AK.

Katie! I am so wayyy behind on your TR! I'm going over there to get caught up right now! :surfweb:

Well, unfortunately, we did let the weather man change our plans so it was a bit frustrating. :headache: But a Disney day is still better than most any other day so, all was good! :thumbsup2
