Sorry the West coasters can't make the NYC trip..........perhaps another time!

Lucy & Bob, our family has recently had knee surgery and I had minor leg surgery so I know what you're dealing with.............TELL BOB NOT TO OVERDO IT TOO SOON, I did that in June and was still recovering during our cruise.........it was really a pain..................REST IS ESSENTIAL!! :guilty: Thx for the info about drydock.

Jenny, thx for asking, we just got back from our quick adults only trip....YOU ARE GOING TO BE SO MAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Guess who I saw on our trip?...................not wayne newtown..........................I have a picture with him.......................PETE ROSE!! If the souvenir picture wasn't SEVENTY DOLLARS!.....I was going to get you his autograph!! I immediately thought of you guys!............so I have a picture with him and my brother in law! I'll send you a copy if you want!!!! :Pinkbounc

Vegas was cool, we missed our flight due to an accident on Thursday night.....so we literally STAYED UP FOR 23 HOURS ON FRIDAY! How wild is that??? We saw BARRY MANILOW, can I just say, he was AMAZING! I know, there has been some bad press over the years.....but he sounded GREAT and I loved his show.............then we saw JAY LENO the next night. We stayed at the Venetian, it was really cool. If anyone is planning on going there anytime, ask away, we had a blast and I was shocked by how much it has grown there since the last time we went there. I recommend it for an adults weekend away, there is so much to do!

Kathy, give us drydock updates!!! Glad the nightmare is over!!! :cloud9:

Ok DAD, all I can say is..............I now know how you feel when you vacation with us!! Dan and Jo dragged us all over the place on our first night and I literally almost fell asleep on the table after staying us for 23 hours straight!! It was really fun! I hope we get down the shore soon, you know how it is with the old ball and chain (Jessica) so we'll see! :grouphug:

JoAnn...were you guys in Vegas this weekend? How did I miss that one? We were there also, at the MGM...we just got back!! (We drove.) Mark put on a sales contest and the winners got a weekend in Vegas and tickets to see some boxing match at the MGM. So, we packed up the kids and off we went. I have a dear friend who moved there about three years ago and haven't seen her since then. As it turns out, her DH was in Palm Springs for a work conference. So, while Mark was entertaining, I and the boys spent the day with her and her daughter. It was so nice to reconnect and the weather was beautiful.

Lucy-I'm so glad to hear Bob is back home. We'll have to come up with something to entertain him with!!!

Kathy-Wow, that's a tough one with Owen. We haven't encountered that one yet. Is Amy upset also or is she OK with it. Good luck with whatever you decide as the consequence....sounds like you've done what I would do! By the way, I was at Coldstone ice cream the other day and thought how happy you must be to be able to enjoy that again!!!!!

Well, I'm very excited to say Drew started his first week of preschool last week. It went well! He goes twice a week from 9-1. So, I joined a health club and have gone both days he was in school. I was very proud of myself! I plan to go at least three times a week. It felt good to get the ol' bod moving again!

Have a great week everyone! I'm off to unpack!!!

I knew Pete was doing promotional merchandise out there. I am thinking Vegas is not the place for him to hang out if he has a prayer to make the Hall of Fame. Vegas-Pete? Sounds fishy to me!!! I would love to see the picture. I still think he was an awesome player!!

BARRY MANILOW! I love him!!! Mark and I love to listen to his CDs. I used to have EVERY album of his!! A friend of ours saw Jay Leno the Sat. we left for the cruise (he was with us in San Diego at the game the night before the cruise). He said he was awesome too!

We are suppose to see the Reds and Phillies in the final home game this year on Fri-Sun. Mark is really wanting to go to Soldier Field in Chicago to see the Bengals.........hey! They are 2-0 with us in attendance!!! Anyone got any ticket connections????? :confused3

Bill - oh - Bill!! Where are you????? Wager dear???? :confused3

Debi I am impressed with your J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets!!!! :bounce:

Hello everyone
School sorta took over the last couple of weeks plus we had 3 big family weekends in a row, I haven't had a moment to myself.
Bob
Hope you are recovering well and Lucy is being a good Nurse
Kathi
Enjoy your celebration meals, I'm glad everything is ok for you
Don't worry too much over the hair thing it's a fairly standard sibling prank, doesn't sound like he'll be doing it again in the future!! Take a picture for the scrapbook, in time it will pass into your family's tales to embarass your kids with when they bring home a date!! LOL

Jenni
Thank you so much it arrived on Friday and I've been playing and playing and playing it.

Good for you Lynn!! :cool1: I have to admit, I am extremely jealous!!!!! :flower:

I didn't think the Phillies still had games out of their division to play... :teeth:
is this season ever going to end...??
I mean, with the Reds 25 games out of first... :rotfl: It's hard to get motivated with any decent bet.... :rolleyes1 Gee ,If I knew JoAnn was hooking up with Pete in Vagas, I would have consulted with him.. :Pinkbounc
Actually, after this last 2 weeks of Braves,Mets,Florida the Reds should look like a weekend pass to the Phillies... :teeth:
But..I accept the challenge... :goodvibes the question is .......what to bet..... :smooth:
I can only connect with some form of alcohol to make this "Gamey""...say a truck load of Margarita's VS some Vodka.... :Pinkbounc To pricey says you..!!
Hey, I'm easy.... Make me a offer I can't refuse... pirate: Are we talkin' a 3 game series ??, Best out of 3, will there be any point spread, etc...??

You better stay out of Chicago ,them Bengals are due for a crash :bitelip:
Besides, the Reds need all the help you can give 'em... :cheer2: :cheer2:

Good to hear from Lynn,Lisa,Lucy,Bob (Tennis anyone), Hey if any of youse guys want apiece of this action ... :cool1: jump up... Hell, the Jets will take any action they can find... :smooth: Who luv's ya...??

I LOVE Barry Manilow - I have every one of his albums (WHAT, you don't remember what an 'album' is!!!)....Bob can't stand Barry but one time, many many years ago he was kind enough to take me to one of his concerts near our town, and sat thru the whole thing for me (even though we were in the last row, the last seat of the stadium). I can't believe we have this
in common.
Well, Bob removed the bandages yesterday....and won't go back to work
until Friday, so my nursing duties are OVER! NOW, I make the lists
of jobs i need done around the house :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
(I can be a caring person for ONLY SO LONG!). Funny, I had to laugh, today he said to me, (while he was folding the laundry) - the wash never ends!
NO KIDDING!

Soooooooo......It's very quiet here tonight.....Reds...Phillies....save your money.... :cool1:

Barry who.....? give me a break....who listens to Barry anymore...?? if ever :confused3 .... Sinatra is where it's at.....The Man....That's ok, Bob keep folding them sheets...I always looked at it as therooopy .... :rotfl: That's where I did my best work...you know, staightening up the house..it takes a "man's" touch :goodvibes

I have to agree with a previous Dis'r when it came to ball player's ,Pete Rose was the best and even now ...His game was 100%,not like the present day whimps :Pinkbounc Who was that person looking for "ACTION".. ??:confused3 I'll bet it didn't take Pete this long to answer.. :rotfl:
Sigh.... looks like the Phillies failed to show up again.....

Alright guys, the shy one is back. LOL. Been just cathcing up on the last 2 pages, I have been a bad girl and haven't checked the board in almost a week.

Lucy - Glad Bob is doing better, sounds like you have made it through the tough part. Hang in there girlfriend.

Kathy - Glad everything went well with the tests and your diet is back to normal. Sorry about those Patriots. NOT. Now even though the division is tied, J-E-T-S are #1 with a division win this Sunday.

So I did a stupid thing this weekend when I went to the game. Took my camera with the zoom lens for the first game, figured I'd get some good shots (we have pretty good seats - Jets side of the field about the 15 yard line, 32 rows up from the field) plus they were honoring Marvin Jones and Mo Lewis. We got there early and went right down by the first row and Marvin Jones was standing right there. I started taking pictures of him and looked at my camera to see the shot and realized I had left my digital card in my pocketbook in the car. On Saturday I had taken it out and brought it to Costco to get the rest of my pics developed from the trip so I could finish my scrapbook. What an ***, is all I can say! I was so mad at myself. Needless to say, Micco said something about scuba diving to MJ (because he is a diver too) and he came over to his and shook both of our hands. That was really cool, but dopey Debi had no camera!!!!!!!! This Sunday I will have the camera with the card, Alex and I are going to the game. Go JETS!

Jenny - How bout them Bengals, looking good!! Also, I will hold off ordering any tickets for that weekend till I hear from you. I am going to look into what's available anyway and get prices.

Bill - And the Eagles don't look too bad either.

I even won my Fantasy Football game this weekend, so even though I have no clue what I am doing, I guess I can keep up with the men. LOL.

JoAnn - Glad you had a good time in Vegas, Micco and I have never been but would like to go. I may get to go out there in Feb for a convention. And that's cool that you met Pete Rose, I was never crazy about him, but I always felt that not getting into the Hall of Fame for that is a little ridiculous. In football, they let anyone into the HOF, drug addicts (Lawrence Taylor - great player, but a drug addict and wife beater - but that's ok). I always felt the rules should be the same all around, but they're not.

The scrapbook is almost done, it is coming out pretty good, if I do say so myself. I am going to try to post it when it is done, so you can all see.

Hope everyone is doing well, miss you all.

Debi

Well, as projected, Mark has succeeded in his quest to obtain tickets for the family in Chicago this weekend to see the Bengals and Bears. Funny how that works!! I always tell people that tickets are his hobby!!! So, off we go on Friday night to the city. :moped: Marshall & Mallory are excited because they've never been there. Well, they have, but both were in my tummy! ;) That was the only time they got into the Big Ten Tournament for free!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl:

I am itching to go to Wrigley Saturday, but maybe I should let the kids do something they want to do. It's killing me! Wrigley is the sacred temple of baseball in my mind!! It's not about just the game, but the atmosphere!

Debi I am cheering for the Jets for ya! Way to go on the Fantasy Football........kick those guys a#@!!!

Bob Hope you are getting better every day.....the knee, you know!

Nurse Lucy I'll call the next time I have a sick/injured one. I am a little "non sympathetic" with that. My dad used to tell us, get up, take a shower, you'll feel better! Yeah right!!!!

Kathy Are the results in? Everything o.k.?? I may have missed a post, so I am not sure how it all went, but I do know you can eat "normal" again!!!

Cheers all! :drinking1:

Hey, "shy Debi!" You guys would LOVE Vegas, no kidding!!! It is pure adult fun and I KNOW you would have a blast................maybe...........we should .............plan..............a..........couples...........trip out there........what you ya think?????

We love the Eagles, but our youngest Jessica is playing Field Hockey (our first jock) so were off to almost daily high school games. Still hoping the Phillies will make the playoffs but................????????????????

Vegas.............ooh yeah! I love it there! I don't like to gamble, but love the entertainment! :cool1:

what is that?
honestly, Bob has never been to Vegas and has always wanted to go.
I was there about 30 years ago and I know it has really changed.
Kathy - you never answered me - what was your first "real" meal?!
Miss you guys - I don't care what or where we meet up, i just want to
be with everyone again! :love1:

My first real meal was cheese pizza from Spaghetti Eddie's. My scan was clear...perfect! I'm just waiting on blood test results which will still be another week but there's no reason to suspect any surprises.

My Patriots and Red Sox are letting me down...I've got to keep the faith.

Amy's new hairsyle is cute albeit short. If you didn't know what had happened you'd never notice the spot toward the back that is still a couple of inches shorter than the rest. Owen still has his hair but his piggybank is $10.00 lighter. The hairdresser charged $7.00 for Amy's cut and I tipped her $3.00. Owen had the nerve to question why I paid her so much (at his expense). I told him that he was a big spender. Amy enjoyed the attention and seeing Owen in so much trouble.

We did go to the airshow on Saturday. The Blue Angels were fantastic. My friend's husband set us up with VIP seating and parking and after the show we got to go out onto the tarmac and meet the team and have a picture taken with them in front of one of the jets. He used to fly the lead solo #5.

I love Vegas...it would actually be easier for me to meet you guys in Vegas than in New York. Southwest has a daily nonstop flight out of Norfolk that gets into Vegas around 3pm. There is a return nonstop that gets back to Norfolk at about 10pm. I have logged many weekends in Vegas. We usually stay at the Mandalay Bay. I love their spa. It's been almost a year since my last trip so I'm itching to go. Jimmy Buffett is playing two weekends in a row next month at the MGM but we're going to be in WDW.

Owen had piano lessons again yesterday. I kid you not when I tell you that the teacher's house smelled even worse than it did last week. You'll love this...when we walked in she asked us both to remove our shoes! As you may recall the dog has pee'd on the living room rug last week. This rug was filthy and we had to walk on it in our bare feet! I couldn't get into the shower quick enough when we got home. I don't know how much more of this I can take. One of the cats kept jumping up on the piano and then onto Owen's lap while he was trying to play. I may have to put a dab of Vicks Vapo Rub below my nostrils to kill the smell next week...I saw people doing that on the news in New Orleans.

Well it's birthday party season. The kids have three parties this weekend...Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Enjoy the Bears game Jenny. Ted grew up in Illinois and he is still a fan.

Bob, I hope you're feeling better every day.

Pizza is my fav meal, especially a tru NY pizza (Debi.....)

So Kathy, why in the WORLD would she ask you to remove your shoes. Does she notice her house is filthy? Sorry, I couldn't deal, I'd be outta there. I'm particular about those things. I feel your pain!

Ryan's going to take piano lessons...I'm on the search for a teacher right now. My mom came to America from Greece to be a concert pianist...she's wonderful to listen to, but she lives too far for lessons. And no, she never became one....she met my dad, got married and had me, so that was that! :teeth:

Let's keep the Vegas dream alive!! In the meantime, Deb let us know what you can about NYC!

Did dear Ol' Dad (Bill :cool1: )tell you............that his dad was a "Blue Angel?" How remarkable is that??? It was quite a number of years ago. :flower:

The weather is finally breaking here in the Northeast..........best wishes to Texas as the hurricane nears.................. :guilty:

I was supposed to be in Dallas tonight through Sunday attending a Mother's of Preschoolers (MOPS) National Conference but after much thought and speaking with a friend in Dallas I cancelled my trip. I just didn't want to take a chance of being stuck in a Dallas airport without a place to stay or knowing when I'll get home. They're expecting 1 million people to hit Dallas in the next few days. Why put myself in chaos if I can avoid it. BUT, I was so looking forward to going to this conference and, I hate to admit it, but also being with my MOPS girlfriends, away from the family. That sounds terrible, but I can't think of the last time I went somewhere ALONE. Even in Vegas Mark had to entertain clients and I was with my kids visiting my friend. So, this was going to be a treat for me. Oh well, better be safe than sorry. OK, I'm done sulking.....

OK Dad......nobody read that last submission..........what was that again???? :rotfl2:

I was refering to the Phillies win last nite....for the benefit of some of the readers.. :teeth: there will probably be 3 wins out there in Cinn. by the Phillies.... even though the umpires could have it go another way...!!
