Happy barbecues this weekend to all!!! :cool1:

Four weeks from today.................. :teeth:

Lisa - I think its all in the water. I hear places that do well in other states with pizza and bagels actually get their water from NYC.

I got my outfit last night for Pirate night. pirate: Real cute, a yellow peasant skirt and white spaghetti strap peasant blouse with gold rhintestones on it; kind of gypsy looking. Now I just need some cheap, big jewelry. Will be checking out those dollar stores! LOL.

4 MORE WEEKS, I CAN'T WAIT, CAN YOU TELL I AM EXCITED!!!!!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

My fam is planning on getting our pirate outfits at the POC ride in DL just before the cruise................ :bounce:

Hi Folks just got back from Wimbledon where we saw Venus Williams beat Lindsey Davenport, I was rooting for Davenport unfortunately. We also saw Roddick win his semi and watched Mcenroe play in the over 35's men's doubles....anyone for tennis!

Wow, Lynn, it's so cool that you were there!! I was for Venus, it's been awhile since she has won and I'm really glad she did!!!!! I'm so happy for her............hopefully Andy will win tomorrow, will you be there as well??

Lynn-That would be my DH's dream, I think, to see anyone play at Wimbledon! He loves playing tennis...tennis and golf, are his favorite sports to play.

Debi-I think you're right, it's all about the water! At least I've heard that before. But there's also technique and sauce which have something to do with it. In general the products we get here on the west are different than those on the east. The most evident difference is in ricotta...and I'm talking grocery store kind. There's a huge difference between ours and NYs. The first time my Dad used ricotta out here (which we had bought at the grocery store), his attitude was-what is this stuff? So, now I have to get the ricotta from an Italian deli-that stuff is similar to the NY grocery ricotta. Go figure?!

Well, today is day one of potty training. We had three and half accidents out of four attempts. We took the diapers off first thing this morning and we set the kitchen timer for every 15 minutes. Everytime it goes off, we all say excitedly, "It's potty time". After a while, he'd hear the buzzer and just got up and walked to the bathroom. The first three accidents occured far from the bathroom-he looked kinda shocked and was upset (poor guy). The fourth one occured while on the potty but since he was sitting it basically went all over the floor until he realized what was happening and he then directed himself into the potty. (How discrete was I with my wording?). So, that was a success for us, sorta of. Now we're just waiting for #2 and I can tell he's holding back on that one. He took a three hour nap and was dry, as he is most mornings when he wakes up. This is how I know he's ready, at least medically. Mentally is another story. OK, sorry to bore you all with this potty stuff, but my goal is to have him potty trained by the cruise we'll all be on, so I decided to share! :teeth: I will say, I'm not mental about it-if after a few days he's not making any progress, I'll back off and put the pull-ups back on and see how his does from there. I don't wanna traumatize my little guy, but I do think he's ready...he just needs to get that into his head.

Have a great 4th everyone!

Lynn - how awesome - I would love to see a professional
tennis match....you are very lucky...I'm happy for you.

Lisa - OH, "those" days....I had to chuckle - can you imagine
your son reading your report when he is about 18!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
I was very, very fortunate with my babysitters...they did most of the
work. Every stage I thought was the hardest (colic, teething, potty
training, school) THEN they become 18!!!! The worst stage so far
for my DH and me. Honestly, we have a confused one!

YES, everyone have a safe holiday. Our town is crazy right now -
it is time for the Kutztown Folk Festival - anyone hear of it? Actually
I've lived around this festival all my life and still love it. BUT, the traffic
in this small college town....tremendous.
My DH works again today (and tomorrow - retail!) but we are going to friends
tonight and I'm making a black raspberry custard....black raspberries are very hard to find around here so the pie comes once a year.

Well, here in South Jersey, we're barbecuing on the beach! It's pretty fun and the weather has been cooperating...............what is everyone else doing for the holiday???? :listen:

Last night my extended family and I went to the Hollywood Bowl for the Fourth of July concert, something we do most years. Last night's theme was 50 Golden Years of Disney. All I can say is Wow!!! (local folks, if you can get there Sunday or Monday, do!). Fess Parker performed Abraham Lincoln's speech (from Moments with Mr. Lincoln) - very dramatic and very appropriate ("What is Liberty?"). He also sang Davy Crocket!!! Richard Sherman, who wrote many of the songs for Disney's early movies and park attractions, was there. He sang the original version of "It's a Small World", a soft, lovely ballad. He explained it was to be a "prayer for peace" but Walt wanted it lively and cheery, so Sherman speed up the song. The Daper Dans performed Main Street Ballads. The orchestra did a survey of songs from all the Disney parks, including film of the parks. "America the Beautiful", for those who remember the attraction, was performed, also including the original film! Pirates of the Caribbean was one encore (once again, with film of the attraction) and "When You Wish Upon a Star" was the last. But the absolute best part of the night was the orchestra playing the soundtrack of the Haunted Mansion while complete voice track and film was shown. It was like riding with 18,000 people! It was the first time many of the soundtrack had ever been played live! All in all, it was MAGICAL - and left us with tears in our eyes and huge smiles on our faces!

Sorry for the long review, but it was amazing. I had goose bumps many times!

Okay I'll be working on the 4th July

Now this makes me think of Mackenzie one of our Diser friends daughters(14), she is actually a very bright young woman but like us all sometimes has one of those blonde moments
Mac: So do you guys have a long weekend in July as you're still in school
Lynn: No
Mac : What you don't get off on the 4th of July
Lynn; No
Mac: Thats terrible why don't you get a holiday for 4th July
Lynn: Because you won!!!
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
This basically had us all in stitches, Mackenzie gave me a puzzled look and then got with the plot. needless to say it won't be forgottton in a hurry
I hope you all enjoy your holiday weekend with your families and friends.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Us Americans sometimes forget that not the ENTIRE world celebrates the 4th of July or Thanksgiving....your story is too funny!

Happy Fourth All !
This is the first time in along time that we are celebrating the Fourth at home. It is usually our vacation time. Today is family and friends over for some beers and BBQ. The other night me Deb went to see a fireworks display, I couldn't help but think that real fireworks are happening on the other side of the world for real. It started me thinking of all the sacrifices that the men and women in the armed forces and there families endure for our freedom. Wishing everyone a safe and merry Fourth! pirate:

last night - we spent the evening with very close friends who had
their daughter and son-in-law visiting from an army base in NC - he was
telling us he will be deployed AGAIN in September - I was so sad for
them (they just got married in April) but he said he is ready to go
again and chooses to go during the holidays to be home for their
first anniversary.....then the fireworks came....it was a special moment
for us too.
Lynn....your best story yet!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
macbaby: that was TRULY a magical evening - I DID have goosebumps
reading your post (I am an absolute DISNEY fan) - what a perfect
evening you must have had.

Having my relatives over for dinner - I MUST clean up this house (the
reason I don't invite alot of people over to my house....I HATE to clean).
HAPPY 4TH EVERYONE :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Congratulations on 47 years! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Bill - I think you should throw a party, on the ship, to celebrate
this woman putting up with you for that long a time! Invite all the
DISers....maybe you could rent out the Walt Disney Suite - I'm free
whenever you choose to throw this magnificent event!

Congraulations Alice and Bill - 47 years is quite an accomplishment and I agree with Lucy...you should throw a grand party on the ship and invite all of us...we'll bring gifts!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Our fourth was spent with my mom (DH had to work). Mom, kids and I went to my hometown about 50 miles from here. It is a town of about 5,000 people that draws 30,000 for the largest parade in the state of Indiana. It is awesome. We continued up the day at a friend's lake cottage for lunch while the kids cruised in golf carts and rowing a boat around! It was so cool! We spent the day with family friends who are "up there" in age. Having no kids and/or grandkids of their own, my kids were absolutely spoiled and loved on all day!!! Needless to say, at 8:00 tonight silence fell upon this house!!! :cool1:

Back to reality tomorrow!
