Hey! July 30,2005 Cruise to Mexico Reunion Thread

I do feel for you! How miserable! It's bad enough that it's the end of the school year, but to try to keep them focused in such hot weather!

I remember when we didn't have air conditioning in our old school. In the fall especially it would get so incredibly hot in the afternoon. I was on the 2nd floor so it was even hotter. Then add in my pregnancies........:scared1: However, we would dismiss after lunch on those days. Hopefully your administration will see to it not to put you and the kids in such danger.:worried: DRINK LOTS OF WATER!!!::yes::

SOME of the schools in the Philly area are closing early today, due to heat....I hope JoAnn's school is one of them:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Thx for your support. I had a horrendous day at school. The issue isn't the heat but the fact that we keep the outside hallway doors closed due to security policies. Years ago, we would always open those doors and it did alleviate the hot air. The air conditioning is not working properly in our staff room so there was no relief at that time either. I ate in the Library and that air conditioning wasn't working right either. Our district is trying to save energy dollars so we get regular emails about how much money we've saved this year. I had the students sit in a dark room watching videos from 1:30-3:30pm. At the end of the day, we were told that tomorrow, school will be closed at 12:15pm. I still haven't heard if the staff will be released at that time as well.

The soccer banquet is over. The air conditioning wasn't turned down enough there either! Another hot night! The banquet went okay, the crazy mom kept fanning herself so that I knew she was hot all night. It was a mine field of insanity but some nice memories were relived. I'm glad Jess is moving on. I have no intention of being in charge of anything as a volunteer ever again! Remind me of this! When I got home, one of the Varsity coaches wrote me an email saying he didn't get enough money from the Parents Club!:furious: I did exactly what the head coach told me to do. How nice!:( Jess did receive a nice award during the event which was nice.

So.......how's the summer for you guys?? Any fun days lately? I could use a diversion!! Things can only get better!! :thumbsup2

Tara is coming home Saturday; Jess's grad party is Sunday and graduation is Monday; Tracy emailed me that she's having a blast in Italy but it's going too quick! She said she has trips planned for Florence, Cinque Terre & Venice. Sounds good to me!:goodvibes

Sorry about my venting.....it was quite a day!

thank goodness they will go home early.:scared1:
They've GOT to allow you teachers to go early too, but at least with the kids gone, MAYBE they will allow you to open doors!::yes::

Last night i met a friend around 8:00, she needed to talk, so we WALKED (with her two little dogs) - it was HOT! so funny, the one dog kept laying down in the grass, exhausted, i finally said to her, i think we better end this walk (although she doesn't have air conditioning at home either--how do people exist without air conditioning!!!!:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: )

Today Bob and Tyler have auditions again at the high school...thank goodness our high school is air conditioned (in the auditorium, that is).
I'm totally taking advantage of not having Tyler home today....he is a pain already, bored as HECK! Has TV on 24/7!!!! Feeding him 24/7!!!!!
As you will see this weekend Jenny (you haven't seen him in awhile, JoAnn has) even though he eats 24/7, he is only 'gaining' in height!!!!

more later......

Marshall's scout trip was changed to Thurs.-Sat. :scared1: Now I am trying to get my mother to pick him up a day early, but she "has plans"! :stir: I had everything laid out PERFECTLY!!! :furious: However, I refuse (unlike some people who JoAnn has encountered recently) to pick at people to donate their time to do things with my children (i.e. the minister who is taking the kids hiking for scouts). Mark says he needs to just not go on the hike, but I think my mother needs to "step it up" and help out! Good grief, she's 66 years old. It's not like she's going to get married or anything :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: (and lose her social security!:lmao: ). Whew! I feel better (not really:rotfl2: ). So, that's my morning! :dance3:

I am going to the game tonight in Cincinnati. A little Q.T. with John although Mallory is tagging along.

I think, JoAnn, that it is totally unacceptable to allow the students to go home and not the adults! I understand the not opening the doors; unfortunately in this crazy world they could get in big time trouble for not "securing" the doors, ::yes:: but to make you guys stay and let the kids go is inhumane!:rolleyes1 :faint:

uh-oh:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Yea well, here's my position on the doors.....how many crazy people are going to steal children out of a hot school (over 100 degrees hot):rotfl: Don't you think most crazy people will wait until things cool down? I think it's worth the risk. Plus, if a few kids disappear, won't that help alittle with the heat?:rotfl2: You know, less body heat?::yes::

Ok, so, yes we had to stay all day but noone was clear about this so I had no lunch. Funny story, I collected the math books today so of course, one of my students put a book sock on his head and was walking around the room entertaining people. I, at 9:05, had zero patience so I told him to take it off, take his morning work out in the hallway and stop disturbing his peers. Soon another young man was sent out in the hallway. :stir: I decided to send a few girls out there to take some make-up tests 5 minutes later. I go out to see where they're sitting and I bump into the superintendent who makes the mistake of saying "Hi!" :furious: So I say, "Are we really staying here until 4pm today?" in a rude manner. I mean, it was so disgustingly hot even that early. So he says back, "Well, yea, but I wouldn't expect you to stay in that room! You should go in air conditioning this afternoon." Brilliant idea, huh? :worship: So I made an inappropriate facial expression (tried to hide it but not too good.) :rolleyes1 :worried: Then I turned to my two boys and said, "Come on back in guys!" It was probably 9:15 by then. After that, you could have heard a pin drop in that classroom!:bitelip:

This afternoon for lunch, I drove home, took a shower, got changed and went on a quest for air conditioning at my school. To add insult to injury, they must be setting it really high, like maybe 78 degrees? So I went from the library to the computer room, guess where it was bearable? For some reason the school office was very cool and comfortable. Weird?:confused3

I feel sick now, so I'm off tomorrow. Seriously, Jess needs me to take her to "the" doctor for her first time, so I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get off unless I took the whole day. I'm sure my students are looking forward to the day off!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

So I hope I made you feel better about all your time with your kids.......I really can't wait until next Tuesday at 4pm!!!:moped:

"THE" doctor:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :offtopic: I'm changing the subject now!

I took John and Mallory to the Reds game last night. After the game they went back to the hotel for a swim and pizza. I went out ALONE!! I had dinner and a drink at a place where a friend bartends. It was kind of weird, but I enjoyed it. I am worn out today! I got up after 9 a.m.! Now I am sitting and trying to gather some energy to "turn it over" as Mark says. That's when we come back for a day or two only to leave again! OH, and I guess I must cook supper too..:rolleyes1

favorite show when he was young 'and cute'!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I agree - where the HECK is everyone else? :surfweb:

I hope JoAnn is not suffering from heat stroke!!!:worried:

about the same thing!  :headache: :grouphug:

I'm fine, the "visit" is over, mission accomplished! Heat stroke is over, that was yesterday!! Grad party prep is underway, I framed the grad pictures, made the scrapbook and the cleaning has begun! Back to work tomorrow!

So when do you go, Lu? Are we bringing the boys??:goodvibes

I'm jealous, Jenny, you're in summer mode! :cloud9:

Mums and Dads are coming up on Sunday for the party and graduation on Monday.......and Tara will be home Saturday........I have to be ready by then b/c we have 3 grad parties to go to on Saturday!:scared1:

you sound (bored) :bored: :bored: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Boys going along? oh, yea, the 16yr. old will be going along (on ANY trip we take)....the 21 yr old? NO!!! remember, this is a vacation!:furious: :furious:
We leave 6:30 tomorrow morning (comprise there, bob said 5:00, I said 7:00) - it will be approx. an 8 hr. drive, but Jenny PROMISED to take us to Cheesebuger in Paradise Friday night (never been-have been to Margaritaville at Universal), Saturday I MUST have ice cream and then it is a late afternoon game, Sunday, an afternoon game. Sunday night, after the game, I believe we will be leaving the city and driving for awhile and getting a hotel. Bob must be home by 5:00 Monday afternoon for dress rehearsal for his High School Musical show next weekend.

What a fun time this is going to be for the family, graduation...seriously, SO MUCH work, but wonderful memories:hug: You will be EXHAUSTED on Monday, hopefully it is half-days for you and the kids at school.:woohoo:

Ok, so guess what happened today? First, I couldn't sleep last night so I took Advil at 3am........and I OVERSLEPT UNTIL 8:50AM! Also, I was supposed to bring 4 dozen donuts for the kids who finished 25 books. They arrived at 8:30am. No teacher, no donuts....noone called to see where I was. In 10 years, I've never even been late! HOW EMBARRASSING!:duck: I guess I do have heatstroke after all!
On another note, have a great trip this weekend you guys and don't forget to update us!:worship: :worship: :cloud9:

OMG!! I have overslept, but not through the start of school! :lmao: One time this year Mallory came in and said "Mommy, it's 7:30, do we have school today?" Luckily John was at his dad's or should I say at school since he starts at 7:30! Next year Marshall has school at 7:30 which means a 7 a.m. bus ride!:faint: My school starts at 8:30 too.

Yes, Lucy gets to go to CIP for margaritas and chocolate nachos! Then there's black raspberry chip ice cream from Greater's. I have also suggested Starbucks on Sat. morning!

GL wil all the family and the graduation. Man, you are on your way mama birdie. The nest is soon to be empty. :scared1:

Hmmmmmm, that food sounds good! Is Lu there yet? I'm pretty sure she should have arrived by now!

I'm too tired to do anything right now. I'm supposed to clean tonight!:faint:

We end our end of the year party and show. It was very nice but a few parents had conferences during it!:(

Ok, Lawall Family update.......Tara has arrived and is on her way home from the airport.........TGTGTG........apparently, she won two major awards at the end of the London term, I have no idea what she's talking about but I'm sure it's good! (Let's hope it means she'll be employed by the New Year!)

Back to cleaning..........:faint:
