Hey jrandtysmom, tent and a/c setup

Here's how I hook the A/C up to the tent.

Put it at the back door and zip everything up snug, then attach a few binder clips to keep the extra tent material from falling in front of the A/C

Attach the tarp to the rain cover with some binder clips, I just bought two boxes at Walmart

Tuck the rest in around the A/C, make sure it leans back a bit so it doesn't drain into your tent.

Then I put a fan in front of the unit to help circulate the air. Also make sure the tarp isn't sticking out under the back side of the A/C unit like it is in the picture, it needs to drain to the ground.

DH did something like this with our AC. He sat the AC on a plastic container box and wrapped with the tarp like on this picture on one of the windows.

Our AC is just like this one too.

Only problem I have with putting it at a window is the screening deflects some of the air, putting it in the door you get the full force of the a/c.

Thank you! I'll have to try that because it's been very muggy here lately and I'm not sure how fun that will be for me tent camping in August. Although we are camping near the beach so it may be a little better with the breeze from the ocean. Thanks for the pics! Did you have a good time on your trip?

Naw, these are from my backyard when I set it up last weekend to get a good waterproof coat on it, and sweep out all the dead bugs, dirt, dog hair, cheetos, dorito crumbs...heck you have kids you know where I'm comin' from from the last trip. I'll definetly post some pics from the Fort when we get back tho.

I bought this silicone spray stuff from Wal-Mart in the camping section (only one they had when I went there) and it has an orange lid. So far it's worked great!

Go to Walmart and by two tubes of seam sealer and about 5 cans of the waterproofing spray with the dayglo orange lids.

Set your tent/canopy up and go over all the seams (expecially at the bottom of the windows and on my tent the seam where the side fabric meets the floor poly) twice with the seam sealer, then spray eveything down with the waterproofing spray. We survive rain/thunderstorms coming off of Lake Erie doing this, and I'm talking you can see a wall of rain coming from two miles out rain/thunderstorms. Just make sure nothing touches the inside walls of the tent and you'll stay dry.

Thanks for the quick replies. Is this spray ok to use on all tent fabrics? How often do you spray?

Like anything else try it on a small spot first, all I've ever had it do is darken the color a bit, but when the color gets a bit lighter time to retreat it. I seal and spray everything down once a year.

Thanks for the pics, I have a 2 door tent and mine looks very similar but I was using a plank of wood to prop back the extra tent material but I like the clip idea (lighter and smaller to pack), I also tape a doubled over section of door screening material to the sides of the a/c to try and prevent bug entry between the door and a/c, and I also pull the tarp straight out and stake it into the ground for the makeshift rainfly. I hope to post my pics when I return from my FW trip in a few weeks.
