You did not tell me how nice the places were with DVC???

I am currently watching Great Hotels on the Travel Channel.

The host is at WDW and she was showing off a Villa by the Wilderness Lodge! WOW!

How and or where do I find out more.....need to talk to my husband about this one!

What makes the DVC so popular are rooms. They are very large when compared to most of the other resort rooms. In fact some have the square footage of a small house. They are really great places to spend a week or two while at WDW. Read what people say on this iste and you should learn plenty about DVC.

we never knew how beautiful the VWL were until our last trip in sept,2002 and we were going to some of the dvc resorts we own at BCV but after our last trip we own at VWL too, i am so happy cant wait until our trip in may we will be there for 6 nights.

How does this work? Do you buy into only one resort?
Then if you want another you are put on a list?

I think this would be a great investment for us!
I love WDW and it had been 13 years since the last time we went.
Let me tell you...we had a blast!

Is it very expensive? I saw a place on Disney to order info, so hopefully it will be here soon. I just like to get real people's opinions. Those that have bought into the timeshare, and really know how things work.

We love it, DH and I. The rooms and resorts are great and better that anything we would have been able to afford. The best place for answers to your questions is in the "Frequently Asked Questions" section of this board. And of course, keep reading these posts. Folks here are the best.

Is it expensive?...Well that all depends on your point of view. First, I'd suggest hitting the FAQ section of this site. It has a lot of good basic info.
I enjoy DVC because it is very flexable and gives a good bang for your buck. As was stated you have a choice in accomadations as well as when you want to travel. Watch the video and then ask away.
The "points" system is like the Weight Watchers point system (everytime I try to explain I get puzzled faces..My wife chimes in and says ..you know its like the weight watchers system and presto...the get it). Hope this helps.

It looks to be quite nice and we would probably save a lot of money! Due to the kitchen, and having a washer and dryer nearby would be nice.
I see there is a place in Hilton Head, too?

You can book your "home resort" 11 months prior to checkout. You can book other DVC resorts 7 months prior to checkout. Your "home resort" is the resort where you bought your points. You can have more than one so that you can reserve different resorts at 11 months (but only with the amount of points you bought at that resort). I own at BWV and book 11 months before for early December and also book OKW at 7 months for May. OKW doesn't book up as quick since it is a large resort and I have not had a problem at 7 months the past 4 years. If there was not a room available, then I could "waitlist".

Once you have stayed at DVC, especially in a 1 bedroom or larger, you will fall in love with it! I stayed in a 2 bedroom at OKW with friends 4 years ago and never had any intention of buying before that, but 6 months later I bought!

Just wanted to add that if you stay in a one bedroom villa or larger, you will have your own washer and dryer in your unit! I know laundry isn't everyone's idea of a good time on vacation but we love having the flexibility of bringing less clothes on vacation because we know we can toss in a load when we leave for the parks in the morning. And of course having your own appliances make things like a quick breakfast in the morning or even a full course dinner a cost-saving option.

About Hilton Head - we love it there! We stayed on cash in December 2000 and DH who was totally against a purchase was ready to buy in the first 24 hours! The villas are rustic but in a nice way. They are spacious and homey. The resort has all sorts of activities going on including dolphin cruises, campfires, bike rentals, craft making, nature walks, a nice pool with slide and a gorgeous beach house. We treated my sister and her husband to a one bedroom villa this past November and they fell in love with the resort too. We're planning our next trip together for this November and she is bugging me to make the ressies and insists on paying cash for her room!

We absolutely love our DVC and my only regret is that we cannot at this time afford more points and that we did not buy sooner. Hope to welcome you and your family "home" soon!

We stayed at POR and while it was wonderful, we could have used a little more room.

Do you need to use your points every year? I am not sure we would go every year.

I am getting more intrigued by all of this.
I think I will read some other info on it now.

You get your allotment of points every year on the first day of your "use year month". For instance, if you buy 200 points at BCV with a February use year, you would get a set of 200 points that can be used for reservations during that use year (Feb-Jan).

You can also bank you point from one use year to the next. But if you do that, you cannot "re-bank" them to another year...you have to use the original year's points in the next use year or lose them.

You can also borrow points from one use year into the prior one.

With banking and borrowing, you can actually go only every three years and make DVC work for you. But frankly, most DVC owners go every year or at least every other year.

We planned a last minute surprise trip for our kids to WDW and left 12/25 for three nights. We stayed at CBR since DVC was not available. Even though the room and the resort was nice, our family said never again. We love everything about the DVCs, and really missed the rooms and especially the balcony.

I <b><i>LOVE</i></b> the show "Great Hotels" on the Travel Channel! I didn't know they did one on VWL. I have seen the shows on GF, BW and Y&BC. Whenever I catch one of the shows I just stop what I am doing and have a little Disney escape.

There was one show on yesterday about Universal's Portofino Bay Hotel. It looked very nice and I think we will stay there when we need a DVC break.

I am so jealous of the show's host. I want her job when I grow up!!
