Hey Houston-Area DISers, how about another meet? -- LOCATION CHANGING!

When last we spoke about a meet, we mentioned meeting in Sienna Plantation to try our hand at the corn maze going up there. Well, Jules says it's either up now or going to be up this weekend, so it sounds like it's about time to schedule the next meet to us!

This weekend (29th) and next weekend (Oct 5/6) are taken for both Jules and myself, but after that we should be open. The maze is open starting this weekend (right Jules?) and running through either the first weekend in November or the last in October. So that gives us the following weekends:

Sat 12th
Sun 13th
Sat 19th
Sun 20th
Sat 26th
Sun 27th
Sat ??Nov 2nd
Sun ??Nov 3rd

Jules said that Sundays would be best for her (less likely to run into a school event). Sundays are good for me, too. How do these weekends sound for the rest of y'all?

Also, for those who don't want to participate in attempting to navigate the corn maze, would we like to throw lunch on first? If so, where would be a good place to meet for Lunch? Jules, any suggestions?

My October schedule just came out at work but I haven't really looked at it yet. I'll check it tomorrow to see what Saturdays I have available. All Sundays in October should be open unless we decide to do the RenFest

Thanks for bumping Rajah... I haven't seen this thread and I am very interested in seeing you again as well as meeting more people. Lunch would be great to do first, then we can attack to corn on full stomachs. Sundays are good for me, as long as I am home in time to watch The Sopranos.
BTW - where is Sienna Plantation? I'm at the Belt and Westheimer... is it near Sugar Land?
3 weekends from now or later is great for me... I have plans this weekend and the next.

I've been talking about another DIS meet, but was waiting until you were back on line before attempting to set up a definite time for one.

I DID want this next one to be on the south side of town and I also spoke to Beth and she also wants the next one to be over here. As far as dates I can attend: Oct 5th I am going to the TRF opening weekend. Other than that, if the meet is after October 20th, it MUST be on this side of town for me to attend because I will be in a little theater show each weekend after that for 3 weeks. I would not be able to comfortably get back to this side of town in time for the shows.

If you really want to have much time to talk, you should plan a meal somewhere. I don't think the "maze" would offer much opportunity for conversation.

And this is on the south... just on the south*west* instead of south-south or south-*east* side. It's very easy to get to if you go around 6.

Once Michael and I get settled in the house (and you can move around the boxes), we're planning to have a get-together at the house, so that will be on this side of town.

The corn maze, though, is too perfect to pass up! Or at least that's what Jules and I thought. Hopefully you and Beth will be able to make it at least to lunch if not to the maze as well.

That still brings up the question of where to meet for lunch? There's got to be something not far from there that would be a good place to meet...

Thanks for the heads-up PM, Tammi! But that corn thing makes me claustrophobic just thinking about it. LOL! And it's really far. I guess we'll have to pass this time, too, but I'm dying to see your new house.

Our October weekends are pretty booked up. We have something planned for every Saturday so Sunday would be best for us but we also have a couple of pending family functions so I can't guarantee we'll be able to come. Y'all go ahead and make plans and we'll come if we can.

P.S. First two weekends of November are also out for us - we'll be out of town.

I think pretty much everyone has checked in now that I know of, either here or via PM...

So it looks like Sundays are best for almost everyone. Carl and TigerBear seem to be the limiting weekends, and am I right in reading that you aren't that interested in the maze, Carl?

If that's right, then why don't we plan for the 27th? Can everyone make that? And I promise, Carl -- if the next meet isn't at our house, it will be somewhere in the Clear Lake/Kemah area. This corn maze was just too good to pass up Deal?

We still need to find a place to meet for lunch... Jules, what's around there?

I might be able to come on the 27th. Our schedule doesn't show a performance that day. I will want to come if we have a lunch, too. I just thought that the maze would not give us any chance for conversation.

As I told Rajah in a PM, I think y'all can count us out of this one. Every weekend is tied up through December. Every Sat, we have 2 soccer games plus 2 cheerleading practices and every Sunday my oldest works with a soccer trainer. Plus, the kids' first cheerleading competition is coming up next weekend and we have a steady stream of them for a while.

But.... we found out today that tomorrow's soccer training has been cancelled and the corn maze sounded SOOOO cool, that I think we're going to head over there tomorrow. I'll have to let y'all know how it is. Amazing the things I learn about on the DIS! Thanks guys! I'll be thinking of y'all tomorrow.
