I am curious what people think. Are ALL sexual preferences a matter of genetics?

I think it more about how someones upbringing was. Everyone I know that is homosexual came from a broken home or some kind of abuse as a child. Wen I listen to people on TV or hear them on radio about their homosexuality. A broken home or abuse is always brought up and verified. Granted there may be a few that didn't come from a broken life but still chose that lifestyle. Sometimes appearance may come into play here too. Sorry JMO.

I think that genetics plays a role in most, environment in others, and for a very select few it is a choice.

I went to a performing arts high school and it was very common there (and very accepted) to be a gay, lesbian, or bi. I knew someone who pretended to be gay, and he later told me, so he could fit in better with the dance majors. I also knew two guys who I felt may be gay, but denied it due to their religion. He said he chose to be straight to avoid judgement, but he recently came out, and he is happier than ever.

I agree with the poster that said they believe love can be between twon individuals regardless of age, gender, or race. I personally hate labels, I think they prevent so much.

From my experiences only. I could be wrong. It doesn't happen in most people. There are more people that have been abused or came from a broken home that are hetero. I have more friends that are hetero that had divorced parents or whatnot.

What can be wrong with love? Not talking about sex...sex and love are two different subjects.

Can you hurt the ones you love? Yes. Can it be used as a weapon? Probably. But in those instances...is it love that would cause you to do those things or it it something else, a different emotion? Love may create other feelings that cause people to do inappropriate things, but again, I don't think the LOVE is the problem with those situations.

I would like to see an example where pure and true love isn't good. Not saying it there isn't one...but I'm always open to learning. It's what life is about!

I don't think it is a choice, I think it is just who you are, but I think some people make a choice to try act as if they are the other (as in the examples posted previously where someone tried to be straight for religious reasons or pretended to be gay to fit in better with their peers). I also think some people just experiment with the opposite orientation, but I don't think that makes them the opposite orientation.

LIKE I SAID BFORE...NOT EVERY SINGLE PERSON. I SAID THE ****'S I HAVE MET, HAVE ALL COME FROM SOME KIND OF TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCE IN THEIR FAMILY UPBRINGING.
