I watched a special about Eileen Wuernos (serial killer) and it was absolutely chilling. She was so mean, and seemed to have no remorse about killing.

I'm not surprised either but I am horrified. It is so sad, that poor girl. I am so sorry for both their families also. It's a terrible thing for them to go through. Earlier in the investigation I watched Lori's Mom talk about how they loved Mark too. It's going to be so tough on them.

Someone had a link here yesterday from CNN saying they stopped searching for the body since Mark had given the police some information that led them to believe it wasn't necessary? Did he confess?

According to the press conference today, no MH did not confess. They said they have evidence from her car, the apartment and a dumpster found 1-1/2 blocks away from their apartment. Also said they think they have the murder weapon but won't comment on that. They have NOT found Lori yet but seem to think they will. Can't charge for murder of the baby until they find a body and verify that she was pregnant.

It will be interesting to see if she really was pregnant, or if that's something he made up too. According to CNN her mother didn't know anything about her being pregnant.

I agree, but it's possible this is one of those deals where she threatened him with divorce and he just freaked out. He sounds like he's been lying for a long, long time. She allegedly found out pretty recently, and they probably had some confrontation where she threatened to leave him.

Heartbreaking!! What the h--- is wrong with these sorry excuses for men? I cannot imagine what these poor families must be going thru. Those beautiful girls and baby/babies.....

How terribly sad. I don't think that this guy is as cold and calculating as Peterson though. I think Mark Hacking's lies caught up with him. I bet that Lori got that phone call at work from the folks in NC saying that Mark had not even applied to medical school and then went home to confront him. She probably threatened to leave him (understandably) and he snapped. He obviously didn't plan it out because he left so much evidence behind. I think he snapped. And now he'll probably go for a temporary insanity defense. What a shame though. It always amazes me though...that he could even have thought for a second that he'd get away with this...

Every missing person, be it man, woman or child, should get as much media attention as this poor woman did. You would think there was only one person in the whole country who is missing.
