He's Going to Camp AND We're Still Going to Disney:) Update Dec 14 post #665

Love the pictures. Looking forward to seeing the Disneyonline purchases. Have a great week. Remember just seven weeks from Tuesday!!! ::yes::

Very sweet - a good dad and a very lucky little boy!

And I guess now you've moved to the forties for your countdown, too!

Without going back and re-reading your original report, had you guys been to Disney World before that first 2004 trip with Declan? I was just wondering if you had already loved Disney from long ago and were just taking him for the first time in 2004, or if you took him and then discovered how much you enjoyed it and it all just snowballed from that.

I grew up watching the Wonderful World of Disney on TV on Sunday nights. I happened to live in Florida at the time Disney World was built, so I was lucky enough to go during the first few months it opened. My kids were raised on all the Disney movies and went to WDW a few times. They had a Disney playroom at one time. Jill had beautiful Disney music at her wedding - not the words, but the soundtracks, and even a few subtle Disney touches around the cake. Still, all of that was just sort of at normal levels of enjoying Disney things. We (Jill and I) didn't really get this full-blown Disney fever until our 2005 trip. That was the first time we stayed on-site, totally immersed in the Disney experience, and that's when we really, truly started going nuts!

Our trip in 2004 was supposed to be one of those one-of-a-kind trips. We knew DS was free (only 2), it was March Break and Dh's job at the time let him take a week off instead of having to take a whole month. I wish you could have seen the two of them. DH had never been either. I had been once for a day at MK in 1982.

Someone asked me the other day why we are going back if its a parents-only trip. I couldn't explain it. Yes there are other places we could go, most are as expensive if not more, yes it will be weird without DS but its a place we've felt much family joy so that spirit will always be in us.

I really couldn't imagine anywhere else yet. In a couple of years I'd like to go to Europe but WDW suits me just fine for now.

I too grew up with The Wonderful World of Disney on Sunday nights:cool1: It was the highlight of the week. I never imagined in my wildest dreams we would ever go. Then the year after we were married my husband said "I have 5 days off in September. Want to go to Disney?" I'm sure he's regretted saying those words ever since. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Then we told my sister to come the year after that and she really got bit by the bug and well then we started having kids and wouldn't you know they love Disney as much as we do. :hyper: Dh I think tolerates it for us, he enjoys it but he's not obsessive like the rest of us:lmao:

Yup, ds was just about to turn 3 and litlle old me was heading for 40. We figured that we would be back somewhere around Declans 10th birthday. Next thing you know, I won a $500 Delta voucher. We figured a weekend in Boston. Once we thought about we said, "What the heck. As long as we are going to Boston, we may as well go to Orlando." :thumbsup2

And the rest is history. Pooksma is currently planning the 2009 trip.

I was just looking back over your report and noticed on the 1st page that you have ADR's at Boma on the 8th. Is this for Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner? We're having Breakfast there that morning. After reading Team Renfroe-Alan's report and seeing the pics we called a couple weeks ago and made ADR's. Looks awesome! Anyway, just wondering when you guys are going to be there. :) By the way, just 7 weeks!!! :cool1:

Sorry, we are there for dinner. We have been looking forward to this one for awhile now.

I hope you can bring back some good pictures of your Boma food to help me convince my crew that we should go there. As it looks now, it'll be all the way on next summer's trip before it happens, but I really do want to give it a try. I'd like to show them there are exotic and common things, so there will be plenty to fill everyone up. I think Jill has visions of termites and fried goat ears or something. She thinks it will be 'too far out there' on the eating scale.

Hope it's really great. I'm looking forward to pics and a report about it after the trip!

I will see what I can do but the pressure you people put on me is getting to me. ;)

Ooooohoooo! Our new shirts arrived today. I will post pics tonight. Have to go mow the lawn right now while its sunny out.

All right Ladies and Gentlemen! It's time for our fashion show featuring fashions from DisneyShopping.com.

Our first two items will be sported by our fantastic ds, Declan. This T-shirt is perfect for that last day of school (tomorrow).

So that's our show for this evening. We hope that you have enjoyed our little presentation and don't forget to visit our gift shop at disneyshopping.com

Very nice. I enjoyed shopping along with you. That's one step closer, and knowing you'll be wearing those on your trip is exciting!

I didn't mean to put any pressure on you about the pictures. Just as long as you get close-ups at three different perfect angles in optimal lighting that show the flavor, aroma, and whether the food is crispy, crunchy, juicy, creamy, etc., that just make the kids want to reach through the screen and start eating, that'll be good enough. ;)

Love the new shirts. I order the Cinderella one for my niece, she loves the color purple, and Disney of course.

I love the shirts. I just ordered the red Mickey one for me last night plus 2 others for my DD's. :)

I guess I will need to pay the fee for the second checked bag. I will need it to to carry all the extra photography equipment. :rotfl2:

6 MORE WEEKS!!! (+ 2 days)

Watching Delta site closely-no changes in the lat two weeks . That can be bad but I think we should be pretty settled by now.:surfweb:

DS had his last swimming class this morning (for this set of lessons) so our Saturdays are now open again. Got his report card yesterday and it was excellent. (naturally:rotfl2: )

We are going to watch Indiana Jones #1 this afternoon. He wanted to see it after watching #4 in the theatre last weekend.
DH is in a golf tournament so hopefully the rain will hold off and it will just be cloudy and damp.

Happy weekend all.
