HERSHEYPARK (Hershey, PA)

Glad to be meeting so many people on here who like Hersheypark. Sure, it's not Disney, but it's one of the best modern theme parks out there. Who all would be for a DIS-meet at the park either the remainder of this month or sometime next month?

I'll be down there for the mixtape concert on July 26th (train). Depending on who goes with me we'll probably hit up the park before hand.

Wow HPCrazy I live about 40 mins from Hershey Park too. Maybe we are neighbors! :) We haven't been inside the park for a few years. I don't like wild coasters but my husband and kids do. I seemed to spend time walking around by myself while they were riding. It is a really nice place. And clean! But I do go to Chocolate World often. And to the outlets next door (Disney Store!)

Wow HPCrazy I live about 40 mins from Hershey Park too. Maybe we are neighbors! :) We haven't been inside the park for a few years. It is getting too expensive for us. I don't like those wild coasters, so it doesn't make sense for me to go in. But I do go to Chocolate World often. And to the outlets..(Disney Store!)

Where exactly are you from? I'm from the York area.

I'm around the Pottsville area. I guess it's more like 45 mins for us. Depending if I'm driving or my husband is.

You won't find me around the park during any concert or event in the stadium. The entire complex gets congested, not to mention major crowds in the park.

Are there still little shops before you have to go through the main gate? I was going to go over the last time I was at Chocolate World, but wasn't sure if they were still there.

Yes, they're still there. My advice to you is if you want to avoid the more expensive prices, I highly recommend Hersheypark in the Dark in October. Not only is the whole park up and running (except the Boardwalk and water rides), but it's all for a much cheaper price as well. Even during the summer, Giant Food Stores and AAA also offer discounts.

Thank you! It is supposed to be really nice tomorrow, maybe I'll take a ride over. We did Candylane a little bit ago. That was really nice. I've never done HP in the Dark. I'll have to do that sometime.

Eh I only live 40 min away.. I like to wait until most people leave then head out.. plus I'm only coming home to 4 screaming kids so I take my time!

My daughter is going to HersheyPark with a group of girls for a sweet sixteen. The girls mother rented an extended cabin without indoor plumbing. Does anyone know how far the bathrooms/showers are from the cabin? It looks pretty far on the map but I know that can be deceiving. A bathroom run in the middle of the night does not sound like fun and definitely not to be done alone.

Any DIS-members who live near Hersheypark and visit frequently, hold a season pass, or if you're planning a trip but don't have a set date yet, you may want to check this out:

I'm holding a meet-up at the park on July 20. Park hours are 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. that day. You can read more about it here:

Anyone is welcome! :)

I was thinking about taking my DS14 this week- but it will be a last minute type of decision to go or not. Depends on the weather, which isn't looking great right now.

Anyway, haven't been since the Boardwalk opened. What kind of "plan of attack" can you give me for one day in the park? Are there lockers and changing rooms? Is it best to do the wet stuff, change, and then do the dry stuff?

They do have lockers and changing rooms. I am not sure on prices, but they are RFID bands that will open the locker, so you have it all day. They offer 2 different size lockers.

I don't normally do the boardwalk as I find it tires me out. But when we do, it is normally first thing.

For a plan, it depends on what you like.

I'm going from memory a couple weeks ago but I think to rent a locker for a half day was $15.00, all day 30.00.

Just went on Thursday. There were two different sizes of lockers on the park side. The larger size was $20 for the entire day.

I would recommend doing the water side as early as possible. When we went, the kids decided to wait until the afternoon. Unfortunately, as soon as we were entering into the boardwalk area, they stated that it was closing because a storm was coming. We stayed on the park side and rode rides for another two hours.

We live in Lancaster and were thinking of driving up today, mainly to check out the Boardwalk area. Our kiddos are 5 and 20 months so Dutch Wonderland is our normal go-to. I haven't been to HP since I was about 13.
It's so hot today and post-holiday weekend... Do you think the crowds will be totally insane? Neither kid has the patience to wait very long for anything.
