In all honesty, if I had to pre-pay and it was a monsoon, I'd make DH pump the gas

No, I am not that anal...but I would push the button and tell the attendant to put the change in the penny jar....or just YELL KEEP THE CHANGE at the pump!

I think I would of just keep pumping , there always seems to be more room even when it stops , I always feel the need to take it up to the next dollar. But I would not go back in for the change.

Well, you know--she has to tell you something to make you feel guilty!

I thankfully go to pay the pump pretty much exclusively and since there is a 90% chance I would have my kids with me and would feel too guilty to leave them in the car, (Lots of children are kidnapped during monsoons you know! )there is no WAY that 40c is coming home with me!!

This is a good point. Why didn't you just pump the 40 cents into your tank?

I'd just call the guy over and tell him to give me change as here in NJ it's illegal to pump your own gas
