A friend of mine is 7 months pregnant with triplets after years of infertility. Her doctor seems to think she'll deliver soon, so she invited me over to see her "plan books" that she's been working on.

First of all, she is an extremely (actually, over-the-top) organized person. She has a book for each of the 3 babies. In the books are the exact times that each baby will be eating, sleeping, sitting in the swing and having their diaper changed. These books go on up to about 4 years old so far. One of my favorite parts was some of the activities she has planned for them when they are 18 months old. She wants them to sit and color in one-hour blocks while she does her exercising! Have you ever seen a child sit at that age and color for an hour straight? Let alone THREE 18-month olds sitting and coloring for an hour straight??? It was so hard for me not to burst out laughing. She is so serious about keeping them on a very strict schedule that I don't want to burst her bubble. I was afraid to ask her what's going to happen if they don't dirty their diapers on HER schedule.

I am really happy for her that she's pregnant, but man is she in for a rude awakening!!

sure. on a wall. but never on paper or in a coloring book.
first day home with the babies and she'll find out that those plan books will make good kindling. at least lets hope that wakes her up!

Yep, babies do things their way, at the time they choose. LOL;)

LOL!! OH MY! Rude awakening is right! I wonder which of the triplets will get ahold of the "plan book" first and rip all the pages out or take a crayon to it! Please keep us posted....

LOL!

I give her less than 24 hours before she can't even find those books much less use them to schedule anything. :)

You were very kind not to laugh out loud at her, I know I would have. LOL!

Oh my goodness. Would I love to be a fly on the wall at that house when she brings those little ones home.;)

I hope reality doesn't slap her too hard!! I wish her all the best for three(!) beautiful, healthy babies. You really do need to talk to her so she doesn't completely lose it when the babies go "off schedule". Jeafl, she needs a good friend after those babies are born!!!:D

BWAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I second JTB's response!!!!!!!!!!! :p :p :p

Her organizational skills will come in handy, but seriously............. Activities for an 18 month old?? The only "activities" that my kids were interested in at 18 months were running and getting into everything they possibly could. :p :p

I get tired just thinking about it!!!!!;) ;)

If she actually believes she can do that she has crossed the line from naive to scary!!!

I'm sure they will mellow her out a bit!

She'll probably be one of those mom's who can tell you every time her babies pee-d or burped or did anything.
I used to work in a pediatrician's office and sometimes when we'd ask a new mom the important question "how many wet diapers does XXX have in a 24 hour period?" they'd whip out their journal and say "well, he had one at 1:43 am, then at 2:56 am, then 6:23 am, then 8:15 am, etc etc."
Me? I'd say "well, we go through about a pack a week, so probably maybe he averages about 8 a day.....i guess" :)

whatever her case may be, i hope she's lining up help ...and meals...and cleaning...

Oh my! With all due respect....ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!
I can totally understand her wanting to be organized because I am a bit psycho like that. However, even as crazy of an organizer/planner as I am, that sounds impossible to me...for 1 child, nevermind 3.
Good luck to her. Id like to hear how it turns out. I tend to agree with Becka on this one. she will be a step ahead if she can still find those books.

That was quite the chuckle... :p

I used to think I was organized... children have a way of throwing even the best laid plans off... but what wonderful adventures will await her!

LOL..............I've had the experience of being an Uncle to my baby sister's TRIPLETS. My advice............. your friend's primary goal should be to avert a nervous breakdown. Mucho stress to come; hopefully her friends/family will provide help that she may NOT anticipate needing :D :D

This made me smile. I think your friend is in for a wonderful surprise :)

LOL! Well, I give her credit for trying.......she'll probaby be laughing about it herself someday.:D

All I can say is that I hope she has lots and lots of help!
