Here now. Which water park?

I think I asked this awhile back but decided not to go at all and forgot the consensus. My 11 really wants to go to one but does not like thrill type rides/slides. He only likes very small slides like the one here at Coronado. So....which water park for an 11 year old who likes mellow things. Fyi, I do realize there will be tons at each water park we can't do because of this.

Also, can he wear water shoes? And does anyone know if I can just use magic band to charge the admission to my room? Are there lockers? Sorry, throwing this all together for tomorrow left very little time to plan!

Both typhoon lagoon and blizzard beach have their less crazy slides and features. We do prefer blizzard beach since it's unlike any water park with its snow theme. You can charge your tickets to your magic band account or buy your ticket at your resort before you go which is easy as well. Yes they have lockers to store your things. Water shoes can be worn In the park and water but not on the water slides if I remember correctly. Have a wonderful time : )

-Overall the slides at TL are very calm but the wave pool is quite powerful.
-At BB there are some slides that are fun but not thrill plus the Ski Patrol area is awesome with lots of fun stuff to do. I would google image it.
- Both have lazy rivers but the BB Family Raft Ride is awesome.

- Lockers at both.

- I wear water shoes at the parks and pools and on all the slides except the tall body drop ones. I don't ride those anyway.

If he loves water parks and only likes smaller, resort size slides, I'd try BB. As a PP mentioned, the ski patrol area for juniors is awesome - and all contained in one area, so if you are alone with him and get there early enough to get a chair overlooking the area, you could pretty much keep your eye on him from there and just let him go (something my kids and DNeph loved when they were that age). I also agree the family raft ride at BB is awesome.
But, TL has some mid-size racing slides that DGrD10 loved last year - and she could have spent the whole day on Crush 'n Gusher!
Either park has plenty of fun for an 11 yo - you can't really go wrong IMHO - once I took DGrD to a water park on a trip a couple of years ago, she has begged for a water park day every trip since - she loves them. Enjoy!

A single day ticket is $53 but adding the water parks and more to your ticket package is only $60 per person. With water parks and more you can return, try both parks, and also go to Disney Quest. Our very favorite water park trick is to wait for an afternoon thunderstorm, then go as soon as it passes. The water parks shut down completely with a storm and everyone must leave. Afterwards they often open up again and are virtually empty for the remainder of the evening. We prefer BB for the theming.

We have park hoppers, so when we added it to our tickets it was only $27 each person

Thanks, everyone! Great info!!

We're AP so I don't think we can do anything but buy the tickets outright, right? (Short of upgrading to premium which we won't be doing.)

I think BB is the better choice given your parameters. :)
