here now.... some thoughts

It's our 3rd day at the park and my first time taking my 8 month old son. Wait times have consistently been about 10 min off either for better or worse. If you do single rider for splash mountain make sure once you reach the first loading dock, you continue going to your right and back around to the other side. I stopped at the first loading area because I was stuck behind a wheelchair and was ignored for about 10 min until another single rider came up and passed me. My fault for not asking where to go but there are no signs and no one seemed to care that some random person was standing around lol.

We had a few extra fast passes for rsr and I couldn't give them away to anyone. Tried to find a nice family to give some pixie dust too and they either said no or gave me a dirty look we ended up just leaving them on a bench. Sad I didn't get to use them because they were for night time too

Toss up for best food and drinks is trader Sam's and tortillas jo's. Had lunch and drinks at trader Sam's then just had to back for dinner and more drinks! The shrimp tacos are good but really are an appetizer, but the Hawaiian cheeseburger is highly recommended!

We had dinner tonight at tortillas Joe's and we're ignored for about roughly 7 minutes once we sat down. Once they found out no one had taken our order yet they were on top of it. Now, we did not mention that no one had come around, nor did we complain. .. the manager apologized and offered us free appetizers and rushed our dinner order. I don't know if they have had previous complaints or something, but this was hands down amazing food and service!!!!

Hoping to go from open to close again tomorrow for our last day. Our kid has been absolutely amazing and done tons of rides with no problems at all. Any questions let me know. .. sorry this turned out so long but I left out tons of other little stuff

I've also stood around in the single rider line for splash mountain. I didn't know what to do until some cast member felt sorry for me and helped me out. :-D

So how were crowds? They seemed to be all over the place on Mousewait. Some lines were surprisingly long for a Thurs in a slow season.

The crowds are not too bad. The worst I saw was this morning at 10:30. We went to disneyland at opening and it was a ghost town. The baby and I had our own boat on pirates and no line for jungle cruise. We left at 10:30 to go back to the hotel and it was a hoard of people walking into disneyland. It was so bad that I gave up and waited for a little bit on the side on main street so I didn't have to fight with people to get the stroller thru. The longest line we saw was at rsr yesterday at 5:30 was a 40 min wait. At California screaming now and it's a 5 min wait. Toy story is a 20 min wait

Since wait times are estimates, as a rule we give the what's posted another 10 when deciding to enter or not. Considering how quickly line dynamics can change for numerous reasons, if they are maintaining a +/- 10 accuracy rate, I think they're doing an excellent job.

This isn't always the case of course. So occasional visitors who can't judge accuracy based on the visible portion of the line (I'm lookin' at you Astro, you too Jungle) can get stuck in a much longer line than expected. Or miss a ride because they skipped it due to an over-stated wait time (pay attention Peter Pan - your wait time isn't aaaaalllllways 45 min.) But again, if they've generally been maintaining a 10 min accuracy for 3 days, I think that's great.

Re: having a tough time giving away FPs --

We had a similar situation several weeks ago when we had four extra FPs for Space. People looked at us like we had the plague when we offered them. We did finally manage to give them away to some teenagers, but most people seemed suspicious.

OTOH, we had a nice couple offer us Star Tours FPs the minute we walked in the park. Heck yeah!

One time we were able to give space mountain fast passes to a father and his young son, right as they stopped to stare at the long posted wait time. They were happy and it was a good end to our day too. I would gladly take RSR fast passes from anyone!

I'll be there next Thursday. I'm looking for an Olaf Halloween costume for my grandson. Have you seen them in any of the stores?

We have always had good luck giving away unused fast passes. Wonder if you just got some newbies who might have no idea what a fast pass was?

When I used to give away fp at wdw, i would go and offer it to folks standing in the standby line or else considerinv going in the standby line. Also would look fir the right group size.

It was the Disney Store in Sacramento, Arden Mall. I'm guessing you won't have time to drive down before your trip? I wonder if you could call World of Disney to check.

I was in World of Disney today - the only boys' costumes I saw were Buzz and a Pirates of the Caribbean one. Strange because I know the Disney store at the mall back home has more!

How is your 8 month old holding up? Is he/she napping in the stroller?

We're going in 2 weeks and I'm taking my 8 month old daughter and extremely nervous about it! She loves to crawl and really hates being cooped up, so I don't know how she will handle sitting in a stroller for the majority of the day.

Also, what's the weather like currently?

I only went in store for a few minutes so I honestly don't know about the Olaf costume, sorry.

My son is doing great in the stroller. It's been too hot in arizona for walks so this has pretty much been his only extended period of time in a stroller. He was fine sleeping in it, and loved looking around at everything. We have a chicco stroller that lays almost flat so that was nice. He's the type of baby tho that falls asleep on every car ride. He's also a big crawler/walker, but he got a lot of crawling time in the hotel room in the mornings.

I think it's borderline miserable with the heat right now. We were actually looking forward to getting back to the 100 degree weather in az because we're not used to the humidity. It was fine in the mornings but I did wear a light jacket in the evening.

Last night was soooo insanely packed that we left disneyland at 6 pm and went back to trader Sam's, then just watched the fireworks from our hotel room at Howard Johnsons.

nothing going on that I know of. A lot of the crowds did look like locals. The ride waits were still 10-35 min long even though you could barely walk anywhere.
