Epcot was far busier today than the "crowd level" predictions led us to believe. I had second thoughts early this morning, but DH said let's go anyway. We pulled into the Epcot parking lot at 8:30. When we got through security, there were LONG lines at all the turnstiles waiting to get into the park.
Huge crowd headed toward Soarin, as usual. We didn't stop for a fastpass because it looked like 2/3 of the crowd was doing that. It only took us 10 minutes to get to boarding the ride. When we got off there was hardly any standby line, but the room with the fastpass machines was packed!! And a line of people snaking out of that room into the food court table/booth area. We didn't even bother stopping. The people in line for fastpasses could have ridden twice in the time they spent waiting. Seriously.
We saw several large tour groups -- and that also surprised me. No one on here had mentioned any tour groups at this particular time. We know it's a holiday weekend. The one tour group had yellow shirts on with "Brasil" on (and yes, it was spelled that way) and appeared to be family groups. Another one was mostly young girls. One group had red or red/black shirts and I couldn't read what was on them. Saw the letters "rod" but that may have been the middle of a word.
Anyway, we'll think twice about doing another day on a 3-day weekend. ;-)
And it was also hotter than predicted. We checked the time board around 2 p.m. and it said no fastpasses were left for Soarin'. We wouldn't have gone back at that point anyway. The usual walk-ons were that way today too -- Nemo, Figment, Ellen. Even Spaceship Earth was busy when we left just before 3. World Showcase wasn't bad but some of the food stands had unbelievable lines!
