Here it is - Announcement re More FP+ Beginning 4/28

I think it is fabulous and felt sure this was coming all along.

As to the Haters, they are always going to hate.

this is great news! I was stressing over this! :thumbsup2

OMG!! After systematically collecting randomly selected, representative guest feedback they are beginning to make changes to respond to that feedback! I'm shocked!!

Wait... I feel like I've heard some people on here say that would very likely happen... for a VERY LONG TIME now... ... ;)
Ain't that the truth!!!!!! ::yes:: Sadly- I don't see any of those people around here right now. I'll give a shout out to a few I can remember..........wisblue - sammie -wdwfreak - jade - davidnyc - the Professor Brain Noble! :thumbsup2 Plus- all of the other ~fabulous folks who all basically said the same thing.....can't name them all.

Funny, because if I recall when this change was first announced many of the lovers were all NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO don't ruin it! My flexibility! My rope drop! No Disney, NO!

Personally I'm not going to label it as a good or bad change until we see the effect it has. If it mimics FP-, great. If it's a step towards reservation riding, no thank you. It was my least favourite option (aside from status quo) when I took the survey, but I can't say I'm surprised it's the method Disney went with.

This is going to discourage people from getting FP+ for Wishes, MSEP, IllumiNations, etc.

They won't go unused. They might not be as desirable as a choice for your first 3, but if nobody takes them, then SOMEBODY will take them as a 4th, 5th, or 6th. Why should Disney care WHO gets them?

I'm not complaining, but this just turns FP+ into regular FP. Ride a ride, get a fastpass. Only difference is being able to pre-book 3 fastpasses. Disney may as well have just kept the old system in place, LOL.

I'm with you; not complaining, but wondering if this is really an improvement over the old FP system? I'll find out in September... :)

Our first park day is May 2. Looking forward to hearing advice from all the people hitting the parks before me. As for now, I'm leaving all my FPs scheduled between noon-4pm and sticking with my everyday rope dropping.

Sorry ma....but NO one said this! :thumbsup2 Disney said from day one this was always a test and to be patient.

I don't even know what to think now. I am taking my DD and her friend in June and we will have PH's. I am RD'er that loves my breaks shortly before lunch or after. Especially in the summer months. I made our FP+ for our evenings. If ideal time is 12-2 and we won't be in the park but everybody else is collecting FP+ for less popular rides making IASW have a 55 min wait (saw this on a one day MK trip Monday, April 14) when return what do I do?

First post clear as mud. I can't decide to leave them as evening or change to morning since we aren't in the park in the afternoons and the lines build so quickly now we could at least get something when we came back.

Has anyone tried (or have info on the ability) to shift FPs after you used your first ?

IE If you booked 9:30 - 10:30 then booked your other 2 for the afternoon.

Use the FP at 9:30, ... at 9:45 Try to shift one of your afternoon FPs to 9:45 and then ride it ???

I am going to try and really max out a day on FPs and see how it goes either way, going to pick a night tonight and shift FPs to about 45 mins after RD, and fire it up. Will let you know how that goes :)

I have a feeling most people will approach this with the logic that they need to reserve their initial allotment as early in the day as possible so that they can maximize their use of evergreen FP's later in the day and/or at another park.

It seems that this will certainly put demand pressure on reservations earlier in the day, compressing availability in the mornings and mid-afternoons.

It will for those that want more than 3, some of us are happy with 3 and those of us that want them later in the afternoon.

I do see a bottleneck happening with the additional kiosks fastpasses. If you don't get your first choice for that 4th fastpass then you'll be going for a second choice and so forth. All of this will take more time.

Add to it the learning curve of newbies not knowing exactly what to do to get the fourth fastpass at the kiosk and the waiting time at the kiosks will be miserable.

Well, hopefully we will get the reports to see how this will be next week.

I'll preface this by saying this is all just speculation, and I hope I'm not wrong, but these are my thoughts...

FP- was so wonderful for those of us who utilized it fully because even though it was pretty obvious how to do so many people chose not to for whatever reason. I don't see a significant number of people putting the effort into fully utilizing FP+ either. For a large number of the Disney population, the 3 prebooked FP are good enough for them. They aren't going to arrive at rope drop if they weren't going to before. They aren't going to research how to tour efficiently if they didn't before.

Rope drop has always, always been the most efficient way to tour. That's not limited to Disney either, it's a pretty general rule and common sense that arriving early somewhere is best. Rolling FP is not going to encourage the masses of people who don't get to the parks early to do so. If the low crowds weren't incentive enough FP+ won't be either.

The real worry is people like us. The ones who know enough and are motivated enough to use that knowledge. We can screw up rope drop if our numbers are large enough. Time will tell.

You know I am sure for some this is hard to accept, but some of us truly understood, about rope drop, etc, etc; but honestly we didn't do it because we did not understand or research or whatever, we didn't do it because we did not "want" to.

Just like you wanted to, we didn't. It's all good just different.

We weren't uninformed or lazy or whatever, we just wanted to do it "our" way. There is no "best" way.

Hmmmm... That sounds like a good plan if it works.

This is such awesome news ... at least for me and my family ... and for many others I am sure. We are there starting Friday, have most days with early fp and a couple with evening fp ... will report how each works out.
You are going to HATE FastPass+ just like you always have from the beginning. I'm willing to bet on it......you'll still have a great time at Disney though. :thumbsup2

Exactly. Remember when rope drop was cool?
THIS. When I first heard this change I was worried. Coming on here tonight and seeing this post gave me the "ughhh" feeling... :crazy2:

While I am all for more FPs, I LOVED my precious RD time. I fear the advantage will be nonexistent, I will be watching for reports.

I wrote Disney back when this was announced a few weeks ago. A very sweet CM phoned me to ease my worries.
She did say no tiering after 3 are used, and she said no app access, anytime soon.
She told me she was in on a presentation showing the system at it's fullest potential, and reassured me that once this is fully rolled out it will be amazing...
I am always a skeptic, :snooty: but she seemed pretty legit in her info.
We alll shall seeee...
I didn't ask about PH, as we never hop.
For now, I wish they'd start FP times slightly later in the AM...here is to wishful thinking... :wizard:
