Here Comes Day Guest MagicBands

Onsite is still getting a perk...30 days extra on their booking window. Might not make that much of a difference, but maybe it will for some things (Mine Coaster, Anna and Elsa). Might be worth keeping those throwaway rooms...just sayin'

The interesting thing to me is that they didn't distinguish between offsite-APs and offsite-non-APs. Shows that what matters to them is that you stay onsite. That they didn't give any different window to APs says a lot about what they think about APs.

I still think there are going to be bonus FPs for staying onsite...I thought that when they changed the AP booking window and now even moreso.

It's really all about the math. At the risk of starting a war, depending on how many days they visit, AP holders could actually be spending less per day than other guests. Sure, it's a locked in gate fee up front, but I would love to know the average daily revenue from all classes of visitors.

This seems pretty fair. 30 days for off-site and 60 days for on. I was thinking they might make off-site 14 days to give AP holders a benefit guess not.

Don't get me wrong - I'd love more than 3 FP/day. But I really don't know how they can make the math work. Or.maybe the rides that will have availability left day of will be Stitch and company. Easter week will be interesting for sure!

If they give bonus FPs for onsite, I think they'll just take the from the FP bucket. Then what's left on day 30 is left.

Easter week will be very interesting...so will the Mine Coaster opening ;)

Yeah, I agree. At this point I work backward from what Disney is doing to figure out who is worth the most profit to them. On the bright side, it seems like local APs are generally happy with FP+, so the booking window isn't such a big deal. I'm not sure how tourist APs will feel about the difference in booking window, seems like a disincentive to buy an AP to me.

agree about the math but If you're going to dream, dream big. :)

maybe they'll create enough demand for secondary rides that the 30 day booking window will be a necessity and a much bigger perk than it appears to be at the moment.

The Mine Coaster is why I'm not surprised to see this rolling out now. What an ugly scene that would have been to have people waiting through long lines at the kiosks only to have CMs tell one after another it wasn't available. At least now they can have their fit 30 days ahead of time and get over it before they step foot on Disney property.

I wonder if this will make the parks wi-fi even worse?

It's bad enough as it is but when all the offsite guests start trying to use it to change their fp+, I think it's going to be basically grid locked and unusable in the parks.

I'm dreaming too. Dreaming of the day we can use our FP+ at more than one park without tiers. Hopefully by Oct they have this figured out. That is likely my next trip and I'm selfish like to that. =) I really am happy to see offsiters get the ability to prebook. Maybe I'll consider offsite again for my Oct trip.

This seemed like the best place to post this, although maybe I should have just started a new thread. I haven't posted before but have been lurking for months planning my trip.

We are staying off site and purchased my tickets through undercover tourist. I have had them for about 6 weeks maybe. They are like credit cards, and I already linked them to My Disney Experience app.

Anyway, I read this news today that off site guests were able to fast pass in advanced starting March 31st. I was super excited because we start our Disney adventure on April 1st!

So, my question is, I have these tickets already, I have them linked to my disney experience app (and the web site too obviously) will it just automatically work on March 31st where I can add my fast pass selections?

thanks in advance.

They should. They are RFID enabled so you will use them at the FP points in lieu of an MB. I would contact UndercoverTourist to make sure. Everything on here will probably be speculation, some better than others.

Now here is a $64,000 question:

Guests for hard ticket parties have always been let through the turnstiles at 4pm, day of the party. Will off site guests be able to make FP+ reservations, 30 days ahead of time from 4-7pm, on a party ticket?

As an Annual Passholder, the reduction of the booking window for FP+ from 60 days to 30 was something I found insulting, but I understood the value of providing a benefit for on-site guests. To now find out that those staying off-site will have the same booking window as Annual Passholders, makes me feel devalued as a customer. This will have an impact on my decision to renew.

Unless you just don't list offsite visits in your signature, it shows all onsite visits and your location shows you being too far away for day trips. As long as you're staying onsite, you still get a 60 day window with an AP and the drop from 60 to 30 days doesn't impact you.

We visit once a year offsite, usually tied to a major holiday when DVC points are very expensive. We do so only because we purchase an AP and we connect it to a cruise. We could easily choose to cruise from another port other than Tampa or Port Canaveral and not do the additional trip to WDW.

+1 Furthermore, as a local AP holder I'm further insulted they held out the MBs from us as long as they did with no information of how/when they would become available to us. Now just as we are getting them, they roll them out to offsite day guests. I see where we rate as guests, the same guests that visit frequently and spend frequently.

The ironic part of all of this, is FP+ fits our family perfectly simply because we are close and can drop in when we feel like it. To schedule FP+ on our way to the park and knowing what we can/can't ride upfront is a dream. But the way they've handled this mess and the arrogance with which they've alienated their local guests is too much. I don't feel like a valued customer but a dollar sign walking through their gate. That's a feeling that doesn't lend itself to us renewing our passes, or stepping foot on property again. Yes, I'm :furious:

If I had to guess I would say no I've been going to these parties for years and yes we could go in at 4 but technically the hard ticket is from 7 pm and when it comes to FP+ I think it would stand as a no, especially since there is no FP during parties

I would feel the same way. But we all feel like dollar signs at this point :( I think this new FP has really exposed the fact that we are just $ signs...not that we didn't always know that, but it wasn't so obvious. It just all seems so calculated now.
