Here Comes Day Guest MagicBands

So, for off siters to get a 30 day pre-book, they have to pre-buy tickets correct? If they buy tickets when they get there, they don't qualify for pre-book?

You have to link tickets to MDE to prebook.

I would think you would be able to link the tickets you buy when you arrive and book the FP+ for your trip once you arrive. You can't book until there are tickets linked to your MDE account.

Yeah, it looks like the only way you will be able to prebook FP is with linked tickets. If you buy the tickets at the park, would you still be able to link the tickets to use the app instead of kiosks? We already have our tickets purchased through the Disney YES program (so won't be able to link our tickets to MDE now anyway) and we are staying offisite. I was concerned with not being able to prebook FP especially with the day that we are doing our class at EPCOT. Since we were going to be in class from 8:30-11:30a, we weren't going to be able to get FPs until after then. Was worried about Soarin'. I am happy we can book a FP 30 days in advance now, so we at least have a chance of getting a pass for Soarin' :cool1:

In a word, yes. When we stay onsite, it's nice to get perks like EMH, but the reason to stay onsite is because you want to be in a Disney-themed hotel close to the parks.

You'll have to excuse us "old timers" for occasionally being cynical with regard to opinions (especially strong ones) and low post counts. Often they are trolls just looking to stir up a hornet's nest and sincere new members sometimes get mistaken for those types of posts. Don't take it too personally. Now if you misspell something, that's another matter. The grammar police will attack unrelentingly. :lmao:

I understand but my comment wasn't meant to "stir" anything. It was simply my opinion. I've been a Dis listener for many years so I am not a newcomer by any means.
Also, I thought it would be nice to hear other opinions about the change....

It's going to be even harder for on site to get day parade, msep, wishes fp+ now as they only get released less than a month before.

Don't like the idea! There should be perks for staying on property. What's the point in paying the extra money if everyone gets the same perks. Makes staying on property not worth it!

IIRC last year when they announced the whole MB/FP+ thing it was stated that anyone with a valid park ticket would be eligible for MBs and FP+. It was never meant to be an onsite only perk but like others have pointed out on-siters will get their MB for free and have a full 30 days more booking window. That sounds like a couple perks to me.

This reminds me of my nephew. While eating strawberries at his grandma's house, he finished his and said "I want more". Grandma said "they are all gone and those are for your cousin".

He said "I don't WANT her to have any strawberries"

How old is your nephew? lol :rotfl:

well I guess your "perk" is that you get to book 60 days and get the band for "free"?

In my opinion, if you've ever stayed on-site and then off-site, you know there are still plenty of perks that make it worthwhile to stay on site; transportation, EMH, DME and theming are my top perks.

That new jazz is pretty low on the list for me. And I just returned from an on-site visit.

:thumbsup2 Exactly. We stay onsite every trip and I absolutely feel that FP+ should be "fair" just like legacy FP was. Offsite/Onsite - no difference. The real "perk" comes to people who invest some time in researching and planning a bit before they head out on a possibly expensive and perhaps infrequent vacation destination. I personally don't concern myself with "who's getting what", I just plan for my family's interests and arm myself with a bit of knowledge and a positive attitude. Been pretty happy with every single trip so far :)
Now if I could have a wish list of onsite perks (not that I am unhappy with what is offered!) I would have to choose specific allotted parking space so Joe Schmo (no offense if Joe Schmo is reading this!) isn't parking at my resort and spending 12 hours in the park free of charge :offtopic: JMHO

We always stay on site. I have no problem with off site getting FP. I'm wondering will I have to buy my tickets online from Disney at the 60 day mark? I'm worried if I purchase my tickets later, I won't have many options for attractions.

Onsite is still getting a perk...30 days extra on their booking window. Might not make that much of a difference, but maybe it will for some things (Mine Coaster, Anna and Elsa). Might be worth keeping those throwaway rooms...just sayin'

The interesting thing to me is that they didn't distinguish between offsite-APs and offsite-non-APs. Shows that what matters to them is that you stay onsite. That they didn't give any different window to APs says a lot about what they think about APs.

I still think there are going to be bonus FPs for staying onsite...I thought that when they changed the AP booking window and now even moreso.

It probably indicates that they think the AP holder has gotten their money's worth after x number of visits and is then getting the rest of the year "free." If the AP holder is local staying at home or staying offsite, Disney is not making any additional revenue. In fact, they are essentially losing money on AP holders getting maximum use of their AP because those guests are not paying for those additional days, but they are still taking up ride capacity, etc. Don't misunderstand. I don't have anything against APs. But I think this is how WDW views the situation.

This is why we bought our AP - it was cheaper than buying park hoppers for the same number of days we planned to visit.

Any "perks" over that are just bonus. They don't have any impact on our decision whether to not to buy an AP.

We were there during the double dipping days and booked before tiering. Being able to book some rides in adv and still grab a few same day was AWESOME. If they can make the math work out and you can get more FP that actually count, I'm all about it. We have been thinking of moving back offsite but if they do this and make it an onsite perk I'm probably jumping back on the DVC train.

We book a lot of ADR's though and running around from appointment to appointment just wasn't fun for us at all. I thought my family was going to throw me off the boat to WL by the 3rd night. For us booking FP probably means fewer ADR's. The combination was a little too much time spent worrying about the itinerary. Rides win.

I'm sure this will offend some but I don't like it either. Onsiters deserve a few more perks. It's simply dollars and cents. You pay more you get more. Isn't that what Disney is all about, MONEY! Yes I know, we get 30 days. Maybe onsiters can get 6 FP a day.

If you can't link your tickets, how are you going to book your FP+ in advance?

Don't get me wrong - I'd love more than 3 FP/day. But I really don't know how they can make the math work. Or.maybe the rides that will have availability left day of will be Stitch and company. Easter week will be interesting for sure!

The same onsite perks that existed with legacy fp still exist. Plus you get a new perk of 30 days more prebook availability.

But no...those aren't perks at all. Smh.

My bad Pixie. I, of all people, should have known better. Forgot my original login info sometime last year and when I showed up in November with new name, you would have thought I was from the KGB.

Sincere apology :flower3:

As to post count, didn't everyone start at 0 and go from there. :confused3

As to it being an onsite perk only, it was said from the beginning it would be available to everyone.
