Here at AKV-Kidani - check in problem :(

Oh, my -- what a mess. I'm so sorry that happened to you. :sad2:

We are leaving in a month -- I'm definitely checking my reservation the day before and printing it -- it will then have a time stamp on it (from printing). Sounds like checking, double checking and checking more and more is not overkill right now!!

I hope they work out these computer glitches soon.

That's a great idea. We leave in less than three weeks for Kidani, and I'll be doing the same.

OP, I'm glad it worked out but sorry you had that hassle to deal with. :sad2:
 
That's why we always check our reservation confirmation when it comes in the mail, as well as having it on us when we check in. If you have the proof in your hand... I am glad they worked it out for you.

Which may or may not help since it sounds like in this case they said it looked like the OP had called to cancel the reservation and change it!

I did just read about another person's Kidani reservation being cancelled without a phone call from them. Sounds like something IT needs to fix pronto and is really unexcusable to be happening. :sad2:
 
I think Tiger926 was talking about the attitude OP received from the front desk at Kadani, not the posters here. That's how I read it anyway.

It sounds like the new computer system upgrade has caused all sorts of problems. Someone in another thread reported that a MS manager had said that BLT was being overbooked for certain time periods. Can you imagine that headache?

Thanks for the kind words. 2nd day here and it was a great day so I'm glad we're here - such a beautiful resort. I checked our account last night and it looks like we hadn't checked in. It still had AKV- Kidani for the dates of our stay. Now today it appears that our reservation has been "completed" which I guess is how a reservation shows when it's in progress.

I'm still wanting an explaination from MS because they need to know what happened and make sure they fix whatever problem caused it.

On a side note, my 2 y.o. son saw a zebra today and was jumping up and down with excitement. Very happy to be here and that it all worked out ok.

I'm going to follow the advice of the posters here and keep checking my account. I'm dying to know when this cancellation happened since I checked every day online for almost the entire period of time since I made the reservation - because I'm goofy like that :) and I like to remind myself that I'm going on vacation at some point. :cool1:

Keep those printouts folks...you may need them like I did.

Make sure you wander down to the firepit at night. The animals ARE still out at night and the firepit is a great spot to hang out. It's just off the lobby, out in the Savanah.
 
So Sorry this happened to you OP. Sounds likethe front desk and Kidani was making up excuses. If the MS website still had you as Kidani , where was the front desk pulling this info from. I check my ressies and points ALL THE TIME!!!! I've read alot of horror stories, so I try to keep on top. Normally I just bring the confirmation I get in the mail with me, but I will be printing from MS also (with the timestamp) before I leave now also as a back up.

We are booked in a dedicated 2br for April since we wanted the 2 beds in the second bedroom. You would think that the staff at Kidani would be better informed on DVC booking catergories since it is a DVC property and not a split property with regular hotel rooms and villas.

I made reservations over a month ago and haven't gotten anything in the mail?:confused3 I do see our reervations online though I'm happy to say, especially in light of this thread. You can be sure I'll be checking it regularly AND bringing a copy of the reservation page with us!

Look at the activity statement not just reservations. It will give you when points changed from AKV.

And I would say 3/4 of our reservations we have never recieved a confirmation in the mail from MS.

For my last two reservations, MS sent me an email. You can call and they will send an email any time.
 
Since the computer upgrade, my reservation confirmations have come via email. Last year, my two reservations came in the mail.
 
I recently made reservations for our F & W and received a mail confirmation and for the first time an e mail confirmation.

OP - sorry to read about your check-in problem. I can't imagine checking in and telling me I am in the wrong place or have no reservation, etc.
 
I got both an email confirmation AND a snail mail one for the reservation I made for next December. I usually forget to bring them along though. Since we are staying at Kidani next Dec., I suppose I should be sure I have it with me.

They have our email on the account so instead of getting something mailed to us we now get emails of our bookings... when our waitlist went through we also got an email sent to us about the reservation change.
 
Wow, you are definitely NOT overreacting....I would have done the same.

I'm glad you got things straightened out with them...sounds like you were not the only one with messed up ressies. I know they are changing their systems over...could have been a glitch (computer).

On my trips, I always call 7days prior, go over ressies numbers, dates, checkin and checkout, room, resort and so forth. I give DVC a lot of credit, but to get my warm and fuzzies....I always call and double-check shortly before leaving.

This also goes for my airlines if flying....it's best to be proactive and double check stuff. You know, computers don't always work correctly...so it's nice to talk to a live person to confirm.

Hopefully, this won't happen again.

Ps. I remember our first trip to Hawaii and arriving at our home airport. I said, 'We are travelling to Hawaii today'. and the guy says, "Oh, that flights been cancelled"......UGH!!!!! =)) We eventually got there, just later than planned. So, I know the feeling!!! =))

Just checked the activity statement as you suggested. It shows that someone changed it on Tuesday the 25th and put points into holding and a reservation at Saratoga. Boy I'm still steamed about that....

I wonder if someone needed a reservation and they just bumped mine.... ugh..makes me mad.

And you showed up Friday the 28th? There had to have been a mistake somewhere. Has MS fixed the problem yet?
