A lot of people on their 1st visit, myself included think that WDW is like any other amusement park like a 6 Flags. The 1st time I visited WDW was 1997. It was my honeymoon and we booked SOG. At that time they had a meal plan that you had to eat all 3 meals at SOG. We purchased the military WDW ticket. SOG was full and they had an opening about 3 weeks before our wedding. We jumped on it.
We enjoyed the SOG dining play however by Day 3, my new hubbie was sick of SOG food. We had no idea about all the restaurants at the theme parks. On the 3rd day we went MGM. The 1st restaurant we found is where we ate. I can't even remember which restaurant it was but my hubby was sooo excited for some different food. We did everything we wanted to do and then some. I know it was a different time and era but we still had a blast going in blind. You don't know what you don't know.
On another note, y'all do realize there is a plethora of information out there about WDW. No way a 1st timer will know and learn everything prior to their trip. I haven't been in 2 years. With all the changes I feel like a newbie all over again. I'm learning on the fly and thank God I have a little familiarity with WDW already. I'm still going to go, I'm still going to enjoy it and have a great time. I'm sure I'll make a few mistakes along the way but who cares I'm at DISNEY WORLD.
Like everyone else has mentioned just tell them the basics. Don't overwhelm them with information. If they were planners they would have already discovered this site and would have been planning. My sister is not a planner. Too many details and information causes her to shut down and get frustrated. She would never plan a day to day WDW trip. Never ever!!! Not her style. She does everything on the fly. That's how she lives her life. She loves going to Disney and exploring each park. If the line is over 45 minutes she just goes to the next ride or grabs a snack and waits in line. She would never run around the park trying to make FP. I don't understand it but it works for her.
So yeah, give them here's WDW in 30 minutes and leave it at that. Like I said, if she was a planner she would have already found this website.
